ShraMan Mini OS - The German Shepheard
"Shravan, please?"
"No Sumo,"
"Baby?"
"Sumo, no, absolutely not!"
"Jaanu, please? I won't ask for anything else, every again,"
"Yeah right, you were asking just a few hours for me to fix the clutch of your car, again and if you could go to Tiwari Killa for the weekend. I even offered to buy a new car, but no, madam ko toh yahi khatara pasand hai,"
"Shravan, don't call my jaan a khatara,"
"Wow, a few moments ago I was jaan, and now your khatara is back to being jaan, kya naainsaafi hai,"
"Jaan, you'll always be jaan, no matter what, please ab toh maan jao,"
"No means no Sumo, we cannot look after him, think practically,"
"We will manage, look at his cute face, how can you say no that?"
I looked down at his face, his eyes pleadingly looking up at me, and his face had a hopeful look. I looked up to see Sumo, with tears in her eyes, threatening to fall. She knew that would've been the downfall of my resolve.
Suman had been begging me to keep a German Shepheard that had followed her home, from the park when she had gone for a morning jog. While I was at work, behind my back she had checked at the local vet if he was vaccinated, and if he was owned by anyone. As the dog had no chip and was free of disease, she had brought him home with her. I had just walked inside the house when I saw Suman looking at me with a sly, mischievous smile, that told him she was up to something. I heard a dog barking in their room, and with a huff I put down my bag and coat, and opened the door. I looked down to see quite a large brown, German Shepheard, whose barking stopped almost immediately. I bent down to pat him and he licked my face. To say I had instantly fallen in love was an understatement. But I had to keep my heart strong. We couldn't keep a dog, it was too much of a responsibility, who would look after him during the day? After, Sumo and me had moved to London, both of us worked during the day and considering, he was still a puppy, he would need extra care. I tried to explain this to Sumo, but to no avail. Instead she proposed, that she would come during the day to feed him and check on him, or they could temporarily hire a nanny to look after the dog while we were at work. This was ridiculous. Hiring a nanny for a dog? Was that even possible?
After a lot of pleading and arguing, I let us keep the dog. The one time I tried to be responsible, and she shut me down. We came to the mutual decision that both of us would take turns to come home a few times in a day to feed him and we would leave the back door open for him to be able to go outside.
That night, the dog was fell asleep on a rug in our room, we decided, we needed to get him dog supplies and dog food. I quickly did a small run to Tesco, to at least get him food for the next morning and came back to the room, to see Sumo stroking his fur.
"Hey Sumo,"
"Hmmm, bolo,"
"Have you thought of a name for him?"
"Nope, I was too excited to realise we needed to name him,"
"How about we call him Hobbes?"
"Hobbes? Where did you get that from?"
"Sumo, like Thomas Hobbes, the greatest English political philosopher, I am very intrigued by his studies about human behaviour,"
"Okay, mere kuthe ko itna intellectual naam de rahe ho, so I'll agree. I can't think of anything anyway; we can call him Hobbu for short" she smiled
We spent the night, staring at him, and stroking his fur, our family didn't seem so small anymore so this addition did more good than harm ;).
