Meaning Of Artificial Intelligence :
The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Colloquially, Artificial Intelligence refers to cognitive functions which humans relate to human minds such an understanding a situation and problem solving. Capabilities currently classified as being Artifically intelligent are :
>> Understanding Human Speech>> Competing at a High Level in Strategic Game Systems such as Chess>> Self Driving Cars>> Interpretation of Complex Data>> Intelligent Routing in Delivery Networks

Conceptualising Artificial Intelligence :
It implies injecting perspicacity into a machine so that it can perform the work which would otherwise require human brain. The device should be able to take its own decision according to a particular situation. For example, the game chess on a computer is artificially intelligent. The computer plays its moves according to the moves of the opponent rather than having any fixed moves. In order to make a machine artificially intelligent, it should possess the following capabilities :
>> Learning : The device should be learning from its errors so that they are not repeated.

>> Reasoning : implies the ability of the device or machine to reach to a conclusion according to the problem. Reasoning is further of two types viz. deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. In deductive reasoning we derive the accurate conclusion from the given problem. However in case of inductive reasoning there is 50:50 chance of the conclusion to be correct.

>> The machine should be able to solve the problem for which it is made. There are two types of problem solving methods viz. special purpose and general purpose. A general purpose method is used to solve wide range of problems while special purpose focuses on a particular problem.

>> The machine should be able to sense the environment around it and take the decision accordingly. For example, some robots have been developed which make their way by sensing the objects coming between and moving ahead without colliding.

>> There should be some means that the machine should be able to understand the natural language whether written or spoken and perform its actions accordingly.

Limitations & Nuisances

>> One of the main disadvantages of artificial intelligence is the cost incurred in the maintenance and repair. Creation of artificial intelligence requires huge assets as they are very complex machines. Their repair and maintenance require huge costs. They have software programs which need frequent up gradation to cater to the needs of the changing environment and the need for the machines to be smarter by the day. In the case of severe breakdowns, the procedure to recover lost codes and re-instating the system might requirehuge time and cost.

>> An ethical argument continues, whether human intelligence is to be replicated or not. Machines do not have any emotions and moral values. They perform what is programmed and cannot make the judgment of right or wrong. They cannot take decisions if they encounter a situation unfamiliar to them. They either perform incorrectly or breakdown in such situations. Is it ethically correct to create replicas of human beings? Do our moral values allow us to recreate intelligence? Intelligence is a gift of nature. It may not be right to install it into a machine to make it work for our benefit.

>> Excess use of automation can result in Unemployment, which is a socially undesirable phenomenon. People with nothing to do can lead to the destructive use of their creative minds. Humans can unnecessarily be highly dependent on the machines if the use of artificial intelligence becomes rampant. Humans will lose their creative power and will become lazy. Also, due to the reduced need to use their intelligence, lateral thinking and multitasking abilities of humans may diminish. With so much assistance from machines, if humans do not need to use their thinking abilities, these abilities will gradually decline. With the heavy application of artificial intelligence, humans may become overly dependent on machines, losing their mental capacities.

>> If the control of machines goes in the wrong hands, it may cause destruction. Machines won't think before acting. Thus, they may be programmed to do the wrong things, or for mass destruction. Apart from all these cons of AI, there is a fear of robots superseding humans. Ideally, human beings should continue to be the masters of machines. However, if things turn the other way round, the world will turn into chaos. Intelligent machines may prove to be smarter than us, they might enslave us and start ruling the world.

The Argument
Advantage v/s Disadvantage

>> Machines may be able to store enormousamounts of data, but the storage, access, and retrieval is not as effective as in case of the human brain. They may be able to perform repetitive tasks for long, but they do not get better with experience, like humans do. They are not able to act any different from what they are programmed to do. Though this is mostly seen as an advantage, it may work the other way, when a situation demands one to act in way different from the usual. Machines may not be as efficient as humans in altering their responses depending on the changing situations.

>> The idea of machines replacing human beings sounds wonderful. It appears to save us from all the pain. But is it really so exciting? Ideas like working wholeheartedly, with a sense of belonging, and with dedication have no existence in the world of artificial intelligence. Imagine robots working in hospitals. Do you picture them showing the care and concern that humans would? Due you think online assistants (avatars) can give the kind of service that a human being would? Concepts such as care, understanding, and togetherness cannot be understood by machines, which is why, how much ever intelligent they become, they will always lack the human touch.

>> Imagine intelligent machines employed in creative fields. Do you think robots can excel or even compete the human mind increative thinking or originality? Thinking machines lack a creative mind. Human beings are emotional intellectuals. They think and feel. Their feelings guide their thoughts. This is not the case with machines. The intuitive abilities that humans possess, the way humans can judge based on previous knowledge, the inherent abilities that they have, cannot be replicated by machines. Also, machines lack common sense.

The Verdict
AI maybe the new trend of the dawning millennium but it brings with itself someunforeseen dangers and threats. Not only is it ethically incorrect but also extremely viable to cause rampant explosions. If it falls in evil hands, AI could be the cause of destruction which could wipe off theexistence of humans. Without such advancement in technology, the world is already not unknown to the horrors of terrorism and mutual hatred. Imaginatively, if these monsters lay their fiendish hands on self stimulating robots, there may not an end to the massacre they befall upon others.

All in all, the judicious use of any particular technology is highly essential for the well being of humans. And a facility such as AI is highly probable to cause more destruction than benefit. Any digital advancement is advantageous only if it's used in the right context. In accordance to the human nature, we're likely to misuse this resource, if given a chance to enjoy it, much like the exploitation of natural resources. If theutility of AI is assured and protected, only then can it be of minute benefit in human interest.
