Prologue
"It's not proper to stay here King Sharma, your kingdom needs you; neither is it safe to carry your little daughter all the way back to your kingdom. Enemies may be waiting on the way."
"Yes, I cannot afford to lose my daughter. I have no hope of winning. What are we going to do, King Raizada?"
"Well, we'll have to call in the fairies. Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, come we need you."
He took a little whistle that he always wore around his neck and blew it loudly. There was no sound for a few minutes and the two Kings waited with bated breath. Suddenly there was a gust of wind and in entered the fairies.
"Flora"
"Fauna"
"Merryweather"
"At your service, your Majesty."
And the three fairies curtsied beautifully before the two kings.
"Fairies, I need your advice..."
"It's the King Gupta again. He has sent his troops to wage war against our kingdom. That man! He has no decency. He knows that I am not there, still he has declared war. Wait till I get him. I am going to pluck his hair out and... and..."
"Sharmaji please relax. We need to think calmly."
"Calm? How can I be calm? I..."
"Please? For your daughter? Uh... fairies, now Sharmaji must return to his kingdom but he cannot take his daughter along nor leave her here as it is too dangerous. What can we do? "
"Well... Merryweather?"
"Okay... Okay... I know, it's my duty. Your Majesty, I'll take care of the girl."
"But... But?"
"No buts, I will take her deep into the woods and will protect her till the war ends."
"Merryweather, we really cannot tell when the war will end and anything can happen and King Sharma has no hope that he will win."
"Of course, I know about wars. I have seen many. I will take care of the child."
"But you are a guardian fairy for my son Aakash, just like Flora is for Arnav and Fauna is for Nanhe. How will you protect him if you are taking care of her?"
"Hmmm... how will I? Of course, the bond."
"The bond?"
"Are you serious?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I am serious. And your Majesty, you would like me to protect Aakash at any cost right?"
"Of course..."
"Then this is the only way, I can know how he is. Now here we go... INDISSOLUBILI VINCULO COPULATAE COHAERENTIAE Here is the bond an unbreakable bond, it will be so that him and her will always be one, united in thoughts and in dreams, when one cries the other's eyes automatically fill up, when one smiles the other's lips tug up too, they suffer together and rejoice together, their pain and joy shall be one and none shall be ever able to separate them and thus shall Aakash and Payal be one till the end of their lives."
As the spell was cast the entire castle was filled with mist and at the end of the spell with a wave of Merryweather's wand, a tiny star fell from the sky and broke into two. One part fell on Aakash and another on Payal. The spell was complete.
"Is there a way to break this bond?"
"Of course not... I didn't think you would want to break it. You were the one who wanted to give your daughter's hand to Aakash. You were the one who planned this engagement, remember?"
"Yes. I planned for an engagement and the engagement is over. I didn't plan for all this bond and magic."
"Well it is to protect your daughter, King Sharma."
"What if she doesn't want to marry Aakash when she grows up?"
"Then the bond will be broken... But you should have thought of all this before getting her engaged when she is just a baby."
"Merryweather, enough. Your Majesty, Merryweather will take good care of your daughter. Now, you need to leave. Your kingdom and your people are waiting for you."
"Yes. Farewell old friend, if anything happens to me, try to win my kingdom back and take care of my baby. And little daughter, Adieu... I don't know if I'll ever see you again. But remember I am doing all this because I love you."
He bent down to kiss her and wiped a lone tear off his face. No one should see him cry. He was a King, a strong King about to go for a war. But right now, he was a FATHER, a FATHER seeing his only daughter perhaps for the last time.
