The eyes of a clown
tell me why
I mustn't climb high,
why I must never fly.
The eyes of a clown
colour me black
and bind me tightly
in a sack
The eyes of a clown
hide a smile
that may seem friendly
but is cruel and vile
The eyes of a clown
give me a frown
but catch me unawares
and make me drown
The tears of a clown
that seem very real
are an empty oyster
without its pearl.
The ways of a clown
frighten me so
They ask me to stop
And bolt the door
A friendly clown
there are plenty
With promises many
that are empty
Clowns
they take
my freedom and will
Ask me to bend
and go for the kill.
