In those days, multistarrers were the popular genre, but the way AB Sr used his power and position to get rival actors' roles cut short, scenes deleted, others did not do that.

He was quite vicious in his competitive zeal and a lot was written abt all this back then in various magazines.

Other actors also shared screen space in many films like Rishi and Jeetu, Rishi and Rakesh Roshan, Sunil Dutt/Raj Kumar/Dharmendra and so many others did without any hassles.

Like Dharmendra didnt hog the show in Yaadon ki Baraat, Vijay Arora's role was just as important as his.

VK was amazing in Khoon Pasina, but AB made sure he had the bigger role and more action and romantic scenes.
Read back then that VK quit BW films because of his frustration and bitterness at being targeted by AB's fierce competitiveness.

Anyway, Rishi is bitter because he played 2nd fiddle to AB in many movies back then.
Must be humiliating to be a Kapoor scion and kowtow to a rank outsider who made it to the top.

Raj kapoor knew AB's father. AB has a huge pedigree and friendship with prime minister's son (he was Rajeev 's best friend) . I don't think even Kapoor would be humiliated by such pedigree outsider. It was AB's competitiveness that was an issue. Romance was given second class status as compared to action movies. who Am I kidding. AB was given a class of his own. Every movie he made, every move he made, everything was lavioushly praised. Salman's super stardom is no patch on AB's in hey day. And that is saying something.

Her Wiki was blank. IMDB which is a more credible source has her birth year as 1971 (November).

For those that don't know, Henna was originally being directed by Raj Kapoor but he died in June 1988. Zeba would have been 16yo at the time of his death according to IMDB. I reckon they started shooting in 1989 when she was 17/18.

Also she marred Adnan Sami in 1993. Had a kid with him soon after, they divorced in 1997.

I have always found Rishi Kapoor super entertaining, be it on Twitter or in interviews! But I'm not sure if I should buy his book. Cause I don't have any idea about the Bollywood he's talking about. It's much before I was born. My time coincides with KJo's book.. which is the only reason I'm confused.
Anyone has advice? Is RK Sr's book a good read even with no real point of reference?

Kapoor and sons are super annoying.

Has he written how he accused Neetu Singh of being a lesbian and how he used to look down on her for not knowing english? Or the time when he hit her drunk?

Everything used to be written on gossip magazines of that time which was jokingly confirmed in one of their tv interviews.

First, everyone has an agenda, so you need to pick what you can swallow. For me, I would pick Rishi's book over KJOs because he talks about his own family and his father's faults. He has outed the Vjayanthimala affair for one knowing it will stain his dad. He has not tried to paint him or his family anything as pure and others at fault. It is blunt like he is in his twitter.

KJOs book comes across as 'woe is me, I am innocent and pure, everyone has wronged me rhona dhona'. He will not talk about what he did to Kajol but he will throw her under the bus. I like Kajol, I admit that but if he had talked about what really happened, I would like that book better instead of hiding behind upbringing and stuff. A tweet does not end a friendship, it ended because it was shaky as hell before and it was clear two years before it was not the same. Also, if he is truly honest he needs to elaborate more about his sexuality. It will be powerful. Instead it is all self pity.

So KJO has written a book to get sympathy, Rishiji wrote a book about him and his family. Both have agendas but the agenda I am willing to pay for is Rishiji 😆. KJO I will read, but only if I get for free. YMMV.

Shashi Kapoor, Shatrugan Sinha and himself were Bachchans side-kicks and played secondary roles but Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna were superstars themselves and if anything Amitabh Bachchans played the secondary role to them in films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke and Anand and he's always given those two more than their share of credit. Grouping himself and Shashi Kapoor with Dharmendra is kind of like Saif Ali Khan grouping himself with Salman.

👍🏼 yeah concur fully. Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna were superstars in their own right.
