Why Nakuul Mehta is one of the best actors on tv now ishqbaaaz

I have been watching ishqbaaaz since past 6 months and have become an ardent fan of all the characters in this show(though probably not the nafratbaaz sisters I am especially a shivika fan and love both Surbhi and nakuul. Apart from the very obvious chemistry that shivika shares with the cliche yet adorable love hate scenes, one more thing that drew my attention was the male lead Nakuul Mehta's acting. I'll be honest initially I found nakuul's acting a bit off as I thought he was trying too hard to portray angry young man but the progression that he has shown over the months is phenomenal. E.g.
1. Just compare the level of anger he shows at anika initially when he thought she was responsible for chip leakage and hence om's suicide and then pre wedding... though situations were different the reason for his anger was same-family... but the level of acting miles apart👏 👏
2. Unlike the other heroes of Gul's show staring at the heroine is not the only face acting that he does. I don't want to compare but let's be honest guys most of the times we deciphered the heroes mood by his angry frown or by his tears or by his smile which covers up their whole package. Just compare that with today's episode where when anika says that he came between her wall gazing he puts his hand on his chest as if mocking her me??? Or the aise waise Jaise when he changes expressions so quickly in a fraction of a second from furrowed brows to brow lift or the pain in his eyes he portrays on hugging om
3. And the voice modulation that both anika and shivaay does is 👏 tell me honestly how many tv male leads have you seen who does it convincingly like post throwing food brought by anika he speaks so softly as to why did she force him to eat or when he says batau during that blushing scene or when he says ha hain for anika's question about blushing... at the same time goosebumps go up your arms when he shouts anika during that Dev episode or his whole monologue during the pre wedding scenes.
4. Maybe we aren't used to a male lead showing so many expressions or voice modulations or even having an equivalent level of dialogues to counter anika's which differs from the usual staring session that the other male leads show on heroines banter. Though he is not perfect nakuul Mehta still manages to make the stereotypical male lead so different even humanising the way he says maut se darr nahi lagta which would have sounded way more arrogant and unrealistic from others mouths but with the matter of factly way he says it makes all the difference.
I know this is a long post but for the first time am hooked to a tv show for more than 3 months not to do with the plot but mainly due to the cast especially shivika 😊

Hey, lovely post!

You mentioned many aspects of Nakuul's acting which make me watch his scenes over and over again be it romance, caring about his family or being aggressive towards Annika. He is very good at changing emotions and his acting style is quite unique. Also what I really love about Nakuul's portrayal of Shivaay, that he adds his own sense of humor to this character. I just love it.

I have not seen many Indian tv shows but this one got me really hooked not because of the plot, but because of the leading cast.
Narbhi are so much talented in acting. Hope for Shivika love realisation to see more new emotions flowing though them.

Yeah the awkward shivaay with his funny antics is a treat to watch like during that scene when he mistakenly holds anika's hand during puja and will be seen giving explainations to his brothers as to why he banged his head to her the 2nd time.(anika's seng wale theory )
And yeah like you am also eagerly anticipating their love confession scenes... I got butterflies in my stomach just by watching their blushing sequences don't know what will happen when love confession takes place and shivaay starts the real romance 😳 😳 😆

I completely agree with everything you wrote. Even I felt that both nakul and surbhi's acting was not up to the mark in the beginning. But they have improved a lot. Now I am still watching the show only because of nakul and surbhi's performance.I love every shivika scenes and I rewatch it again and again. Iam just waiting for the show to be normal again with the end of nafraatbaaz and all the daily attacks. The nafraatbaaz are ruining the show.

Yeah even I don't like nafratbaaz but like a silver lining to every dark clouds, we are getting such cute shivika scenes and the more they try to hurt anika, the more will she witness shivaay's caring side and the more closer will the shivika be 😉

200% agree. Sometime i watch IB only for his expressions even if nothing good in episode. I have never seen a TV actor with so many different expressions. It is beyond amazing.

Same here, other than IPKKND, this is the longest I have stayed addicted to a show and I love Narbhi's acting. I feel Surbhi is less OTT than initial episodes and Nakuul has shown an impressive range of portraying emotions, now i watch mainly for them.

I agree! He's a big reason why I've stayed with the show for so long! Surbhi and he bring Shivaay and Annika to life! Haven't watched his previous show but so glad I didn't miss this one. 😊
