They're both in the shadows. She of her sister. He of his illustrious family. They're both similar in some ways and different in many others. He hates the shadows, she revels in them. He has grudgingly accepted his, she is comfortably enclosed in hers. Despite everything, they both make no attempt to move out of these shadows. It's something they are used to. But they will soon have to leave these and venture into the light. And that is when the magic will happen.
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
Fire and Ice by Robert Frost is one pf my favourite poems. I was reading it the other day and thought of some parallels with the Karan Naina relationship. (Bizzare I know 😆 )
From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire.
In their equation, Naina is definitely the Fire. She warm, bright and has inherent goodness that shines from within. But she also has shades like fire does. She can be mature one second and annoyingly childish the next. Frost has compared Fire to Desire in his poem. When Naina falls in love with Karan, and I want her to fall first, she will desire him. I don't mean this physically. She will desire his love, his companionship, his well being, his soul. This will give her strength to keep going because he will not relent so easily.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate, To say that for destruction ice, Is also great, And would suffice
Karan is very much like Ice here. Hard and brittle who has frozen his feelings towards everything. Frost's comparison of Ice with Hate also makes sense here as when Karan starts falling for Naina, he will hate the feeling. He would want to fight it. He will hate her for making him feel this way, hate himself as he would think he is not worthy of her. But she will thaw him out. Slowly and steadily. We have already seen that she breaks his inertia and forces him to respond. She will similarly make him fall in love. And that would be beautiful to watch!
