Anushka as an actor- Share your honest opinion

What was exactly so great about her in ADHM?

She was essentially playing herself. Same goes for her other characters (JTHJ, BBB, Patiala House, MKBKM etc etc)

The only different thing she has done till date is NH10.
I personally think she lacks versatility.

Anushka and Parineeti actually have quite a similar career graph if you take a look at their film choices.. the only difference is that Anushka got movies with superstars that enabled her to sale through.. no superstar and it is MKBKM that she gives😆 NH10 being a notable exception of course

I don think she is a bad actress per say. She is actually one of the best of this generation. Its just that she has done the same roles again and again that makes one feel she may not be good. I have always liked her and her acting but lately I somehow cannot connect to her offscreen. Maybe she used to be more grounded last time. Onscreen she is a delight. But yes her bubbly roles can make someone dislike her or get tired of. However, I have to admit I disliked Alizeh and ADHM as a whole and so Im going to be honest and say Anu didnt really do extra ordinary in it. And that it possibly because Alizeh is not a great role. I want and wish Anu takes up role that has her emote more, more of emotions and expression. I want to see her do a role with real depth not the so called depth role Kjo designed for her as Alizeh. I always believe that Anu deserves to be successful cos she is talented and works hard for it and it still bothers me that she lost the best debut awards. But who cares cos its her who is still relevant to BW.

She has done a better job at staying away from being the bubbly punjabi girl as of late 😆😆

Directors only give her one type of characters to play onscreen.

And why is she not offered/doesnt do films like Parched/Neerja/Piku/UP?

Does she not get these kinds of movies offered or does she willingly not do them?

I totally agree with you. She's totally over-rated & non-versatile but she certainly possesses a lot of arrogance irrespective of her repeated role picks. That said, I liked her in ADHM but didn't find anything special in NH10 which is touted to be her best yet. I thought a KR/Sona could've performed much better. Even Aloo for that matter! But in ADHM certain expressions were quite nuanced. For me ADHM was her best even if she was playing essentially herself-- A tomboyish, bubbly, manic pixie girl who is essentially a bitch. Quite like her irl. LMAO!

She's pretty zinta of this generation monotonous and overhyped.

I saw her in NH10, RNBDJ , JTHJ and ADHM . She is much better than a lot of people . Don't even compare her with Pari .

Better than a lot for sure..

But also not above many current actresses...

Will not place her above Deepika/Alia.
