Yes it makes a whole alot of sense she's flawed in many ways I really love Anika as a character even though sometimes she can e stupid but I relate to her in every way. Yes in the real world we do face criticism for being a bad cook and not having all these qualities in the Desi world it's the harsh truth because I faced them alot some elders still live in there centuries thinking girls of today should be perfect like them which sucks to be honest they fail to understand the fact some girls are different and don't have these type of qualities doesn't make these perfect Bahus better than us.Originally posted by: poemssyndrome
Your perspective is different from mine & I truely respect that. But I believe that if the world wants they would criticise even the best people in the world.
Anika works. She has always been working. For her it was essential to earn bread, and I say essential bcoz she didn't choose to work like most of us do after we complete our studies. It was mandatory for her to work. So she wasn't into making the bread taste better, what mattered was there was something to eat. We all have imperfections & I am happy that unlike the Bahus on TV she is not shown perfect bcoz no women in the world are perfect to begin with.
If we go by the definition of what a conservative household defines a woman as Adarsh, she is the one who cooks & stays at home & takes care of her children. There are about 90% of women in lower middle classes in India who work, who have to work to feed their children. 50% or more of the upper middle class women work some to support their husbands, some for the independence they get from it. So that way most of the Indian Bahus & betis are not Adarsh bcoz they don't stay at home. Bcoz their husbands might be helping them with household work. Bcoz they don't serve their MILs with evening Tea & marie bcoz they are working hard to be able to buy that Marie when their husbands work to be able to buy that tea.
Now let's say we have a woman who knows cooking, sewing( even human skin), wakes up early, maintains relationships, loves her in-laws but goes to work at 9 at night & comes back at8 in the morning. Unknown people call her at night & she runs like a athlete out of her house to attend them. So according to Indian concepts of Adarsh Bahus, a woman who stays out at night is not a Adarsh Bahu. So will you say that this doctor who works hard to manage everything is not Adarsh. Technically you have to,right. She is breaking rules of this concept of Adarsh Bahu.
What I mean to say is that a Adarsh Bahu doesn't exist. So why expect them from the real women & why even expect them from fictional characters.
And I would say that it's good u made this post, atleast it made us discuss something that occurs so frequently in our society & something that need to change!
