Bigg Boss - Expired Format

Disclaimer: I have only watched 2 seasons out of 10 so can't comment about other seasons. My point will be based on what I have seen and also having watched the UK BB.

BB (both India and UK) was a great format in the early stages as it was incredibly intriguing to see people and celebrities, stripped back and 'real'. Reality TV became an alternative to the melodrama of daily soaps and glossy lives of the rich and famous we watch in cinema and read about.

The format however is in dire need of a shake up.

People are too aware of how to 'play the game', what to say and what to do. It looks massively calculated (on the HMs part) and as viewers we're not seeing the 'reality' that we so hoped for.

The UK version has totally gone down the drain for not only promoting filth but because most of the people that go on the show, do so to get famous, regardless of whether they degrade themselves or not.

Now, there is nothing wrong in using BB as a platform to increase one's fame and fortune. That's the real reason people go on.

The issue is when people are portraying a skewed version of themselves according to what they think the viewers want to see. This is especially applicable to India's BB.

The whole notion of 'taking stands' is laughable at best. It has become a running joke throughout all the seasons and is used to build certain HMs up and pull others down. People are expected to act out their emotions and state their intentions clearly, just in case the viewers misinterpret them.

Is this real life? Do we all walk around with thought-bubbles or all have monologues like they do in serials (just so the viewer is clearly aware of the real intent)?

BB has become too predictable and HMs are too aware of themselves. It's not the 'reality' TV show they bill themselves as.

yeah this 'taking stands' thing caught on after gauhar, who used to take plenty of stands in her season, went on to win the show. maybe lopa too thinks she can hit bulls eye by following that pattern.
same goes for isolation, self-victimization patterns... once a contestant is seen to win on that basis, new contestants try to pull the same stunt.

bold@ cant agree more. together with that, outside feedback from host and guests has also triggered very noticeable changes in the likes of bani and rohan.. had they been left to their own devices without any feedback or channel interference, the show would have played out quite differently, imo.

I think every current HM would have played differently without any interference. They're all playing up to their portrayed image now.
