Chapter  6

It has  been six months to that awful night that  witnessed the agony of two innocent souls one who was not aware of what was happening other who couldn't understand the impact of his innocent act. By god's grace they made out fine.

Garima  made sure to keep khushi in her vicinity not letting her move far away from her. It become a difficult task when little khushi learn to walk . she would move as fast as wind without barely a sound which was quite a big thing for her as she was  very loud child.she might not be able to form correct words yet , but her half meaningful alphabets was pronounced with high audibility .

Garima has felt pain shoot in her heart every time arnav be near khushi. She knew that what happened was not arnav's fault he was a child who didn't knew what impact his actions would have but her fragile heart was still burdened by the events of that night. Being close to Losing your only child  makes you fearful and a untrusting individual.her eyes glued to arnav and khushi that were playing in the garden beneath the tree , surrounded by alphabet cubes and few soft toys and a toy car.

Arti sat beside arnav and khushi as they communicated in the language of their own.she has given birth to a baby boy named akash three months ago. Her mother in law was so ecstatic about the new baby , she had a grand celebration to welcome her grandchild but not before making sure he was normal . she and her husband went to america few days after that incident , they consulted a specialist to know about arnav's condition. Will he ever be able to speak? They are searching answer to this question till now. Her mind goes back to that time when they needed to leave for their flight six months back. It was such a big task to make arnav leave khushi here.

Flashback

"I promise you beta, she will be there waiting for you when you come back" arti tried for the uptenth time.

Arnav just nodded her head in a clear NO . doctor has advised arnav  not speak , he can use hand gestures to communicate and give ample rest to his throat.

Arnav's hold on baby khushi tightened as she remained asleep oblivious to the tension surrounding her.

"She is so tiny arnav. If she seat in plane she might get hurt. Do you want to get her hurt. Do you want to see her cry ?"  garima persuaded arnav to change his decision. He looked at garima with big brown innocent eyes , shaking his head at her question. No he did not want her to get hurt. She was his friend and he never liked it when she cries.but he still didn't lose his hold on her. His mind still replaying  the threatening words of his mother from that day.

He knew she has promised to never do that again but still he is not able to trust her fully.

"Arnav, no one will take her away from you we promise, i promise." arti looked at him her eyes wet seeing the mistrust in her son's eyes. Has she broken him to this end that. Will she ever be able to get his trust back.

"You know there are so many beautiful toys and dresses there . don't you want khushi to have  those toys hm?" arti tried again.

Arnav nodded to her innocently , yes he wanted khushi to have best toys and dresses.

"So we will go there and bring all those toys to her."

After few more words of assurance from arti arnav finally agreed to go to USA .garima took baby khushi from his arms as he made his way out of the room but his eyes still glued to her.

Arti passed a hesitant smile to garima which she reciprocated with nod. She was not ready travel with her daughter to such a far away land. It has been just few days to that incident and scars of it still lay afresh in mind.

Arti has tried to persuade her but she has not budged from her stance this time. She needed time to move past this incident.even after being suggested by doctors to not travel in this crucial months of pregnancy arti has made her mind to be there to treat his son , much to her mother in law dismay. She left her daughter anjali in the protection of her grandmother and garima.

Flashback ends

Arnav went through various scans and examinations of doctors to get hold of the matter. Thankfully it was not that much worse which all they feared. There was some kind infection in his vocal box that made it hard for him to speak as it pains him. Infection has grown over the years in the absence of proper treatment and due to constant speaking and scream has lead to splits in the tissue.

With proper medicine and rest  pain has subsided to a huge extent and if reports are to believed even the level of infection has come down considerably. Arnav was not aloud to speak all these as if he can. But now doctor has given them a clean chit that arnav can slowly start speaking if he want.

Much to their dismay arnav still remain mute. Does it still hurt him, pain him. Maybe he was hiding his pain again like all these years. No one forced him this time , if he wanted to speak he will.  They had told the doctor about the same to which doctor has told them that he might not ever speak .

Few more test after doctor told them that infection might have gone away but they might have misjudged its  impact . it might be possible that it has affected the voice box's  nerves severely. He might not be able to speak ever. Arti wished it was not true. Though the burden of responsibility of being an heir has been taken off arnav's shoulder after akash's birth but still she wanted her son to live a normal life.

Still keeping her insecurities and wishes aside she has admitted arnav to a school for dumb. It has taken a lot of strength from her to take that decision. To see her son learn the sign language. But this time she has not shied away or fallen weak to the circumstances. She stood  by her son at every step of the way . she learned sign language with her son though no one else in the house care to learn , her husband being busy with business and her mother in law showering all her love on akash while anjali was still small for such things.

He is her son and nothing can change that neither her love for him can reduced for any reason.

Arti stifled a giggle as she saw khushi wrestle arnav down to the ground as she spoke loudly in a baby language .

Arnav  ran away while khushi chased after him, he was holding her favorite toy.he tried douching her but she reached him and fell over him taking him with her but he still did not lose the hold on her toy .they wrestle with each other smiles still adoring their ruby lips.

She  wants this happiness for her son , for her family to get peace .
