CHAPTER FORTY TWO
HOURS LATER
Raman had managed to drive to Ishita's house and had been waiting outside her home but they wouldn't let him in. He was being a complete idiot and was embarrassing himself but it was the first time he didn't care. He had a lot to tell her, he had a lot to ask her. He wanted to tell her that that wasn't his dead wife; he wanted to tell her that he had been in love with her all along but was such an idiot that he realized it too late. He wanted to let her know that he was extremely sorry for what she was and had been going through and that he was trying to make it right if only she gave him a little time.
He had been calling and calling her but she wouldn't pick her calls. Her gate had been bolted in and no one was coming into that house without security clearance. Ishita as pissed and she intended on showing it
Back inside, she sat by the window looking at her gate as she watched Raman go through a hurricane of emotions but she refused to see him. She didn't deserve what he was putting her through. What had she done that had been so wrong, for him to keep on hurting her that way? As hard as it was she was going to endure it until she got over him, she had to.
Priya and Mihika who were normally her sound of reason walked in each holding a bottle of beer. Priya handed the beer to Ishita sitting beside her as she said
'Are you alright... You have been just sitting there for hours...'' Said Priya
'Am fine...'' She said
'Can I just say something...'' Said Mihika
'No...'' Said Ishita who had an idea of where Mihika was going
'Just hear me out...'' Said Mihika as she knelt down in front of Ishita
'He has been standing out there for hours and he is as stubborn as you are. By the look of things he isn't going to leave until you talk to him...'' Said Mihika and Ishita teary just kept quiet
'How about a compromise... You pick up one of his calls, have a 2 minute conversation and ask him to leave. People are going to start thinking he is some sort of pervert. It is getting late and he is just standing there crying like an idiot...'' Said Priya as she took Ishita's phone that had close to 100 missed calls
'Just one...'' Said Priya and Ishita looked at them
'Get out...'' She said
'Ishu...'' Said Mihika disheartened
'I want to be alone so please get out...'' Said Ishita and Mihika and Priya reluctantly obliged
Ishita looked outside for a while just staring at him for a while before she finally grabbed her phone and called him
'Hello... Hello... Ishita please listen...'' He said but Ishita in a calm low tone voice said
'I was too easy when it came to you...'' And Raman's heart sunk to his knees
'Ishita...'' Raman said his voice breaking
'I came when you asked me to come; I left when you asked me to leave...Slept with you when you wanted me to... I was that easy'' She said still calm although he could hear her voice break
He knew she needed to get all this off her chest so he just slumped down on his knees and let her talk, even though it was heartbreaking to listen to
'But even then, how can it be this easy for you to break up with me? How can it be too easy for you to repeatedly break my heart'' She said and Raman began tearing up
'I am sorry...'' He said in a low tone and tears began streaming down her face
'I want you to become very unhappy... I want you to cry every night... Every time you think of me, every time you remember me, I want you to break down...'' She said softly as tears streamed down her face
Raman put his hand on his mouth as he tried to do everything in his power for her not to hear him break down but he couldn't stop his tears from falling down
'I wish I die of depression thinking about you, I wish I die of rage angry at you... So that you can feel guilty for the rest of your life knowing you are the person that put me their ...'' She said and began to cry as Raman began to softly sob
'Do not ever appear in front of me ever again. Today I let you go...So please leave and never come back...'' Said Ishita and she hung up
'Ishita... Ishita... wait...'' He cried but all in vain
He sat there knowing there was no way in hell she was going to listen to him, at least not now. The only way she would even consider what he was saying was if he proved that woman in his house was just pretending and that she was not Shagun. Determined more than ever he got back into his car and drove off back to his house.

Romi who had been trying to calm everything down was starting to worry that his brother was completely neglecting or forgetting the most important people in this whole scenario. If indeed it was true that this wasn't in fact Shagun, it meant there were going to be two traumatized children who everyone seems to have forgotten.
'Mihika are you sure he has left...'' Asked Romi worried
'Yes... He left an hour ago, he should be there by now...'' Said Mihika
'Where the hell is he? Simmi is causing all sorts of commotion here and this Shagun person is throwing a tantrum and the kids are falling for it...'' Said Romi
'What do you mean tantrum...'' Said Mihika
'Forget it, I will tell you when we meet later. Right now I need to talk to Aditya...'' Said Romi hanging up
He walked upstairs where he saw Simmi heading and he began to worry. Amnesia or not, it didn't matter there was no way that person could have been Shagun. She was the most loving human being he knew and there was no way she would have behaved that way, it just didn't add up. He made it to Aditya's door and he could hear
'I do not want to cause any trouble for your father that is why I am doing this...'' Said Shagun
'Mama, please... Papa was just a little stressed from work. He is always grumpy, even with us, ask Ruhi...'' Said Aditya his voice breaking
'Yes... It is true...'' Said innocent Ruhi
'This is all that Ishita's fault... She is poisoning your father against your mother...'' Said Simmi
'What is going on in here'' Asked Romi opening the door to a very surprised group of people
'Romi uncle... Please tell mama not to leave us'' Cried Ruhi running to her Uncle

'Raman seems to be facing problems with his company because of me. Clearly that woman, his business partner doesn't like me very much. I know how much RKB means to him so...'' Shagun began
'Stop... ' Said Romi as he lifted Ruhi
'Enough already...'' He added disgusted as he turned to Aditya
'Adi... come with me...''
'No... I want to stay her with mom...'' Said Aditya
'I am not repeating myself... ' Said Romi startling him a bit
Aditya looked at his mother as tears filled his eyes before he stomped off walking out with Romi.
'Dammit... ' Said Simmi under her breath
'Oh relax... I have them in the palm of my fingers...'' Said Shagun carelessly
'Hey... Do not involve the kids so much. It isn't their fault that...'' Simmi began
'Oh please, those kids an annoying brats who kind of deserve it...'' Said Shagun
'Hey... Do not talk about them like that. Stop being a bitch...'' Said Simmi much to Shagun's amusement
'Oh really... Your whole plan is based off of the fact that these children keep me in this house as you toy with their emotions, now all of a sudden you want to act as the good aunt? Come on it doesn't suit you...'' Said Shagun
'You do not talk to me like that...'' Said Simmi annoyed
'And do not talk down at me like your better than me. What kind of sister can do such a cruel thing to her brother? You are lying to him and his children that his dead wife came back to life, please, your more despicable than I am...'' Said Shagun standing up
'I need a smoke...'' She said and walked out to the balcony and Simmi irritated walked out of the room only to bump into her mother
'Ammi...'' She said startled but her very shocked mother was just staring at her as tears streamed down her face and it didn't take a genius to figure out that Santosh had heard their conversation
'Mama let me...'' Simmi began to panic but
''SMACK...'' Off the slap went on Simmi's face
Simmi stepped back holding her cheek as tears filled her eyes not saying anything. If ever there was any hope of her mother understanding why she was doing this that had gone out of the window. Nobody in that family understood her and that is why they didn't get why she had gone to the extremes, or she tried to justify her actions.
Before her mother could say anything, he heard Raman yelling as he kept on shouting for Shagun to come downs. Santosh who knew her son needed her more than ever decided to let the Simmi issue go for a time being.
'Raman calm down...'' Said Santosh as she walked down
'Where is that woman? Where is she...? Come down...'' Said Raman angrily
'Raman... You're scaring the kids...'' Said Romi but Raman was so out of it to hear them as he run upstairs screaming her name
'What...'' Said Shagun as she came out of her room startled
Raman tried to grab her hand but she stepped back knowing where this was going infuriating him even more. He grabbed her hand by force and began dragging her down stairs
'Raman you're hurting me...'' She cried but it fell on deaf ears

He got to the stairs and Shagun fell holding his feet with the hope that he stopped but Raman was so filled with rage that it didn't bother him that he was hurting her. He just continued dragging her down the stairs much to the sheer horror that his children were witnessing. He got her to the bottom of the stairs pushing her in front of him as he said
'Get the hell out of my house before I do something so drastic everyone involved will regret...''
'Raman... Please... Where do you expect me to go...''Cried Shagun
'I DO NOT CARE, JUST LEAVE RIGHT NOW...'' Said Raman
'Papa... Papa ...'' Cried Aditya
'I am not repeating myself, take yourself and this thing and get the hell out of my house and never show your face to me ever again...'' Said Raman turning to his sister
'How am I involved in all this... She is your wife you handle her...'' Said Simmi
'SIMMI...'' Yelled Santosh
'Papa, please...'' Cried Ruhi
Raman who for every time heard his kids calling out to him defending Shagun became more and more angry that he grabbed Shagun by the hand and began dragging her to the door
'Adi...'' Romi called but before anyone could contemplate what was going on
Aditya had grabbed Raman's hand and was trying to hold him back but out of reflex Raman swung his hand causing Aditya to fall back hitting his head on the wall and falling down. There was a silence in the room as everyone held their breath worried to death that something had happened.
'Adi...'' Shouted Ruhi who ran to her brother and soon after his grandmother followed
Raman stood in one place not moving just looking at his son completely shocked. Aditya who had a small cut on his forehead slowly sat up looking around asking for his mother and Shagun who knew they had him where they wanted slowly smiled at Simmi before she got up pretending to cry and she carried Aditya upstairs as Santosh called the doctor.
The doctor had come and treated Aditya, stitched up his wound and cleaned it but Raman had been standing in the same place not moving completely zoned out with the same blank expression on his face. His mother who could completely understand where he was coming from knew how hard that must have been, to watch his son get hurt because of him.
'Raman... Raman ...'' Santosh called causing him to look at her
'He is fine... Aditya is okay...'' She added but he just looked at her
'Hey, aren't you going a little over board because of your fling...'' Out came Simmi
'I swear to God Simmi you have about 5 minutes to leave this place or I will forget you are my daughter and I will teach you a lesson you will never forget...'' Said an angry Santosh
'You think I want her out because of Ishita? Ishita would have broken up with me and it would have been hurtful but I would have been fine with it because I would have sure my kids would be fine. But here is a woman toying with their emotions this way, an am angry because of that, I am disgusted that I didn't even see it, I am raging because after the way Aditya stepped in, how am I supposed to explain to my 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter that your mother is indeed gone and that woman is not her?...'' Said Raman as he broke down
In that moment it was the first time that Simmi actually sensed how far she might have gone with this whole revenge plot of hers. It wasn't supposed to last that long anyway. Raman was supposed to see Shagun's face and be so taken up by that that he relaxed a bit with RKB. His brother became stupid once he fell in love, the problem was she didn't factor in his having strong feelings for the Nanny and also RKB being protected by the Alt, she couldn't hack in. And because of that, things fell apart
'What am I supposed to do? Tell me...'' He said his voice breaking as he turned to his mother
'Enough now, you are a man Raman but you're a father first... Go be that for your children, everything else will be sorted later... Go upstairs and check on you son...'' Said Santosh and Raman obliged
'This is all Ishita's...'' Simmi began
'Get out...'' Said Santosh
'What...'' Said Simmi taken back
'I said get out or I call the police myself and tell them everything I heard and know...'' Said Santosh
'Mama you never...'' Simmi began but Santosh who was at her limit grabbed Simmi's hand and dragged her to the door throwing her out
'Show up here again Simmi and I swear on my husband I will kill you...'' Said Santosh before she banged the door shut
'Wha...'' Said Simmi as she sat there in disbelief
'Well... I can say I have seen worse but I would be lying...'' Said Rinky who had just come from physical therapy
'I have to say though good for you, you deserve this...'' She added before she went inside leaving a pissed Simmi outside
Raman got upstairs to Aditya's room but Aditya refused to see him. He kept on telling Romi he didn't want to see his father because he was angry and scared of him and obviously so was Ruhi. It broke his heart that it had gotten this far and now more than ever he realized he needed a proper plan to oust Shagun out of his house. But in order to do that, he had to let someone very important go and that more than anything broke his heart.
'Well... That was not necessary...'' Said Shagun as she got into the room leaving Aditya's
'You have...'' Raman began
'Oh stop... I have the power here do not forget that... And the next time you try and lay a finger on me, you won't see your kids ever again...'' Said Shagun
'Don't you dare touch my kids...'' He said
'Oh relax, it was just a suggestion but Aditya is adamant, he wants me to take him and his sister out of this house...'' Said Shagun carelessly as she imitated Aditya
'Mama... I do not like papa, let us just leave and be together, like before... It was kind of depressing actually...'' She added making Raman angry as he grabbed her neck
'Oh... Careful, you do not want your son believing you're a wife beater now do you?'' Said Shagun taking herself from his hold as she grabbed her phone
'Am sleeping in Aditya's room tonight, he was so scared and traumatized, he needs his mom...'' She added and she walked out to an infuriated Raman

A MONTH LATER
"Did you take care of the reports like we had discussed..." said Raman
"Yes, everything is ready. Do not worry." Said Romi
"How about ...'' Raman said
"Hey, go home; be with your son, I can take it from here. Do not worry yourself so much about RKB. That is my job." said Romi
"Yeah... "Said Raman
"Also RKB is doing well and the last bit of the loopholes, Pratik will take care of it...Do not worry...And as for Simmi do not worry so much. I will take care of her. Just focus on getting rid of that imposter, getting your kids and your girl back" said Romi
"Speaking of... Is she ..." said Raman
"No... She hasn't set foot into anything Bhalla related for a month now. Mihika says she still stays away as much as possible" Said Romi and seeing his dejected brother he added
"Just hang in there. It will be okay..."
''Yeah, thanks..." said Raman as he grabbed his jacket and laptop bag and walked out.
"Mr. Bhalla, the meeting with Iyer tech is about to begin..."said his secretary
"Okay, I will be right out." Said Romi as he grabbed his phone
"Mihika... Is it..." he asked
"Oh yeah, I just sent her to the wrong room. I hope this works... '' Said Mihika nervously.
Priya had been told by Mihika that she would be in a meeting with another group of people at RKB and thus went to a different board room.
Mihika being the one who usually did not meddle in Priya's life was deathly nervous because in a way she was Interfering in a somewhat sensitive matter and if it did not work out, there was a possibility of it affecting their relationship.
When Priya walked into the boardroom she was sent, she didn't expect to see him there. Pratik who still was not sure why Romi had urgently called him in RKB was going over the contracts they had signed when the door swung open which caused him to look up and he was surprised with who he was seeing
"Priya..." He said his face bright all of a sudden
"Crap..." she said
"How have you been" He asked
"Why are you here." she asked
"Romi said I had to meet him... "Said Pratik
"Yeah right..." She said
"I swear, I am not lying..." he said smiling
"Whatever I am living..." She said as she turned to leave
"Hey hold on... Can we at least talk...?" He said
"Uhh No..." She said
"Come on, for old time's sake..." He aid causing her to stop turn around and look at him

"Priya, Rahul says what time should he pick you up?" Said her Assistant
"Tell him I will be done here shortly, so I will meet him at the hotel..." Said Priya
"Alright... He also told me to tell you it is causal... he said you would understand... "Said the assistant causing Priya to smirk before she said
"Got it..." And the assistant walked out
"Is that your date..." said Pratik Angrily
"Not that it is any of your business but yeah he is..." Said Priya much to Pratik's fury
'Are you by any chance doing this to hurt me'' He asked clearly hurt, a question that caught Priya completely off guard
'What...'' She said
'Because if you are, do not bother, I am already torturing myself enough for what I did...'' He said
'You give yourself more importance than what you have in my life...'' Said Priya
'That is not true... I refuse to believe that...'' Said Pratik
'Again, whatever gets you through the day...'' She said again carelessly
'I can't... You are... Did I really mean that little to you...'' He asked
'Pratik please, right now your acting like a needy teenage girl and it is not attractive at all...'' She said
'PRIYA...'' He yelled startling her but she somehow kept her cool
'I know your hurting and I get that but that does not give you the furnace to be this callous and disrespectful'' He said

'Have you even ever wondered why I did what I did? Why I acted that way...'' He said and she just stood there ignoring him
He walked to where she was, turned her around and forced her to look at him
'Answer me...'' He said

Priya was seriously hurting; there was no doubting that, she had spent the better part of the month trying to avoid him as much as she could because it hurt too much. But she was too slow in realizing that more than a broken heart, her ego was bruised and she hated that too much to the point that she couldn't look at their situation clearly and objectively, something that made Pratik begin to believe she never valued what they had that much.
When he saw how carelessly she acted with him like he didn't matter he got angry and given the date he had just heard her plan he was raging with jealousy and he just wanted to get a few things off of his chest
'You left Priya without a word or explanation you just disappeared from me...'' He said
'What are you talking about?'' She asked
'When all three of you left because of Ishita, you just left without any justification. I was hurt and angry. I tried to hold it in and understand but I am only human...'' He said
'Pratik plea...'' Said Priya but he wouldn't let her talk
'You knew how I felt about you. We played around, flirted around but not once did I hide from you how I truly felt about you. You and I had something special or at least I felt that way but you up and left without a word...'' He said
'I couldn't tell you why I left you know that...'' She said
'You could have asked me to wait for you...'' He said angrily and she looked at him not sure what to say
'If I mean anything you could have done that but you didn't... So I was angry because as time passed by without you contacting me I started to believe you meant more to me than what I meant to you and I was angry...'' He said scoffing as he added
'And when you got back it took you the better part of 2 weeks... 14 whole days to get in touch with me, like I was some other schedule on your list...''
'And somehow that justifies you sleeping with her...'' She said her voice giving away her emotions
'No... Nothing is ever going to justify that... I regret having allowed my weaknesses get the better of me that night and I am ashamed of that but dammit Priya you led me there...'' He yelled
She stood there startled with what he was saying and yet deep down she knew he was right that is why she was so angry. That had been the first time Priya had seen how hurtful her actions might have been to him and how she may have been responsible for some of the outcomes.
But even then, the thought of him sleeping with Simmi in her mind meant more than what Pratik was willing to admit and that made her unreasonable causing the issue to drag on more than it should have. Also there was the other issue; he was Simmi's best friend, the one person who was bent on hurting Ishita
'You and I were not dating then I do not know why it should even matter...'' She said
'Do not do that. It pisses me off...'' Said Pratik standing frustrated
'When I saw you at the hospital my heart sunk to my knees because I thought something had happened to you but at the same time when I found out that you were fine I was disappointed because it meant you were doing fine that I was... It meant you were okay with the way things were and I was the only one hurting...'' He said in one breath turning to her
'That is how crazy and pathetic I have become...'' He added looking at her pushing his tears back
'I have so much regret it is drowning me. My heart aches so much I want to die because the woman I love ...'' He said holding back
'Pratik...'' She said tears filling her eyes. That must have been the first time he said he loved her and she felt his words
This was going to be painful for him to admit but he realized him going around in circles with no purpose was of no use and was only hurting him. He needed to do this for him and also for her, he needed to let go
'As of now Priya I am letting you go... Enough is enough I can't go through this anymore...'' He finally brought himself to say
'What...'' She said shocked
'We are officially breaking up...'' He said clearing his throat from the lump that had seemed to have settled there
'I know you can't forgive me and if there is any hope of you contemplating it you're going to need time and I need to give you that. If it is not over between us then we will find a way back that is how it works. Clich as it sounds, that is the way it is. For what it's worth I really am sorry... If we don't get back together I genuinely hope you're happy...'' He said before grabbing his laptop and files and walking out
Priya stood there feet planted on the ground unable to move. She was in such a daze that she couldn't quite believe that it was about to end just like that. Tears began streaming down her eyes and she wanted to just call him. She was screaming his name in her head but words couldn't quite come out
Priya and Romi who witnessed the last art of this conversation pretty much understood that things didn't quite work out the way they had planned.
'Uhh I swear you girls are so damn stubborn... Can't she just let it go...? She is clearly hurting like he is...'' Said Romi
'I know... I don't know how to help anymore...'' Said Mihika as she picked up her phone and called Ishita
'Yeah...'' Said Ishita
'I think they broke up...'' Said Mihika
'Priya seriously... 'Said Ishita before she went quiet for a minute and said
'Make sure Pratik stays in the building and let me talk to her...'' Said Ishita and Mihika proceeded to Priya while Romi went to find Pratik
'Priya... It's Ishita...'' Said Mihika handing the phone to her and walking away
'Hey... Are you okay...'' Said Ishita
'Yeah of course...'' Said Priya trying to hide her emotions
'What are you doing yaar...'' Said Ishita

'Go find him, apologize, and tell him how you feel, stop mopping and being miserable...'' Said Ishita
'Am not miserable...'' Said Priya
'Stop being ridiculous and stubborn...'' Said Ishita
'He slept with her Ishita... With Simmi, the person always making your life a living hell, he just...'' Priya began
'So...'' Said Ishita

'She is making my life miserable not yours. What has my relationship with those crazy Bhallas got to do with you and him? The guy screwed up, he is very remorseful clearly and inn his defense technically he didn't cheat. Your ego was bruised I get that but what is the point of having an ego that big if it only brings you misery...'' Said Ishita and Priya kept quiet
'You love him, just find him and tell him that already... All of us can't be miserable. It becomes too depressing. Besides if it's a choice between you two that you're worried about I think he already made it. He chose you everyone knows it but you...Also stop using me as an excuse'' Said Ishita
'I am sorry...'' She cried
'I tried really hard not to love him because I know how hard it will be for you because of his relationship with her but...'' She added
'Do not be silly... You have nothing to be apologetic for. You get the same deal Mimi got. Just make sure you all do not bring that crazy bitch around me during family gatherings... Alright'' Said Ishita and Priya chuckled
'Alright...'' Said Priya
'Hang up and go...'' Said Ishita
'Are you sure this is...'' Priya began
'Oh God...'' Said Ishita and she hang up causing Priya to smile and cry at the same time as she walked out

'No idea but Pratik owes Ishita big time...'' Said Mihika smiling
Pratik didn't want to be in that building and to be fair he had had enough of everything but Romi insisted he had a few more things to discuss so he had to sort of be there. He took a deep breath as he composed himself as it began sinking in that he and Priya were finally done.
He chuckled painfully not because the situation was funny but because it was unbelievable how things had worked out. He took his phone out as he tried to call Romi not understanding what the hell was taking so long when he suddenly heard someone hug him from behind.
Instinctively or maybe because he so wanted it to be real, he held onto her hands and took a deep breath smiling and it took him a few seconds to realize it was not who he thought it was that he pulled away turning behind only to see it was Simmi.
'I miss you...'' She said boldly but his attention was on the person who was standing at the door way looking at them
'Priya... Wait... This ...'' He began but she was just looking at him not saying a thing
She quietly walked twards them placing her bag on one of the chairs along the way before walking confidently passed Simmi straight to where he was. Before he could even talk she placed her hands around his neck and placed her lips on his.
He arched back a little a bit surprised but once he realized what she was doing, he put his arms around her waist and reciprocated. He pulled her in as she run her hands through his hair pulling him in as well. He slowly ran his hand up her back all the way to her nape and finally holding the back of her neck tilting his head to the side as the kiss deepened.
Simmi stood there absolutely thunderstruck not believing Pratik was acting this way in front of her. She was sure they had broken up and she had been trying to get back with Pratik the whole time. Even if she had ulterior motives, her feelings for him had always been true and he was the only man she had ever cared about this much and so this hurt, A LOT.
Priya finally pulled away and looked at him their faces still close as her face lit up smiling at him. With his hand still around her waist, she turned holding his hand that was holding her waist as she looked at Simmi
