Contrary to popular opinon, I don't think Bani was a good friend to Gaurav at all - but she is not to blame for the demise of his game, IMO - that would be Gaurav and BB.
Gaurav made two mistakes, IMO: one - he aligned himself with Bani and failed to play independently of her, and two - he failed to assert himself. As far as the first one is concerned - every time he attempted to break away and play the game, BB bashed him into place. BB repeatedly asserted that Gaurav has one identity in that house - and that is as Bani's 'friend'.
The second one - IMO, Gaurav was worried about the woman card being played/perceived against him. He himself has alluded to that often when saying things like 'I'm quiet because there are cameras - I would react far differently were we outside', when Bani has insulted him. What a shame that he was bashed anyway, for not being a 'good' friend to her. In trying to save one aspect of his 'image', he sacrificed a lot of different aspects of it.
As for Bani's 'friendship' - I totally disagree with the perception that paints her as an 'amazing, steadfast and loyal' friend. An amazing friend does not disrespectfully snap at her friend day in day out and call him names on national television at the drop of a hat. A steadfast friend does not enjoy her friend getting bashed on weekends for his friendship towards her, and indeed egg on said bashing. And a loyal friend does not paint her friend as a sidekick by often conveniently forgetting that said friend is also a contestant, and not merely her ever-tolerant companion, and then literally declare it by saying he'll go to top five because he's with her.
I felt so so bad for G at that point - the one person he supported even at the cost of his game, reduced his potential to simply that of 'being with her'. Why does he need rivals in that house - when he's got a friend like Bani? It's just as well that he's been evicted - so much potential - and all down the drain. He was so much more natural with others in the house - especially Mona. Those who've seen G before, will know that he's no 'doormat' IRL - I don't see him giving the likes of Bani's tantrums the time of the day outside that house. He was indeed playing a role in BB.
