Dangal has taken a good start in Overseas. Its not a huge start and well short of the numbers of Dilwale last Christmas and Sultan on Eid. The film had an early release as Christmas is falling on Sunday so will be a shortened weekend in many markets. The Christmas period is the most lucrative in Overseas markets as a film like Dilwale which was not appreciatted in all Overseas markets including US / Canada clocked $26.5 million last year. The weekend will see up and down collections and it will take a few days for the real Overseas picture to emerge for the film. The film took a record opening in Australia though again the Christmas period may stop it being a record for the weekend.
