Back in 1998, film directors were not that into too much interviews and there work spoke for themselves.It holds even today except one i.e KARAN JOHAR. In 1998, even though as a kid i understood what a director was. Through the audio cassete of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai i came to know of this man called Karan Johar whose film songs had just started airing on Doordarshan and other channels for promotion. Those days reading and knowing the names of the director,producer, music director , singer's name in the audio cassete was common thing. The tag line of KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI was- "you know you are in love when..." Kuch Kuch Hota Hai .
That film became rage with cool chains, and colourful friendship bands etc etc. Karan's first interview came in doordarshan at that time . By 2001 when he came in KBC along with Rani to promote K3G, he had already become the brand name of the blockbuster movie called Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. After K3G he became the brand ambassador of Indian Values and traditions. All people loved him and his movies.
THis is what most film journos have told me too that in industry this the thing they dont like about him the most. Swinging from one branch to another. Its good to be cordial to all, but suppose if you are best friend of a person X and Y is not on your fav people list you will somehow be a bit possesive and wont like X bonding beyond too much with Y .and at the same time claiming You to be his most dearest buddy. Its natural.Happens in our daily life too. Karan is like that. Kareena had also openly stated about it indirectly many places cause she looks up to karan more than a friend and as a brother . Karan is forgetting that in order to please too many he will one day lose the close ones too.
His talkativeness, his persona , his effeminate personality didnt come out openly.His interactions were limited to few interviews and appearances in shows like Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai on ZEE TV .
Till 2003 during the release of Kal Ho Naa Ho, we all saw a very controlled, well articulated Karan Johar. He got tremendous adulation for Kal ho naa ho. His interactions were Well presented, limited Talk. After his father Yash Johar passed away he started Koffee with Karan in 2004. Thats when people began to know him more, analyse his personality. Even than he hosted other awards shows , still he talked within a range. Not too much faltu talk.
Cut to 2016, the scenario is totally opposite. this karan johar is not just over analytical, but hypocrite no.1, has participated in a roast last year, is known for nepotism highly. etc etc
What many people dislike about Karan Johar
1. There is something called loyalty, He makes friends and connections with all so that in some urgent need he can have them, weather for a cameo in dharma movies or inviting for his show free of cost. E.g Rani and Aishwarya cant stand each oher.But he will go to both of them and say; you are my bestest friend. In recent times we can see sometimes he call twinkle is all time dear buddy and sometimes kajol, sometimes srk , sometimes aditya chopra. Sometimes dear friend of Kiran Rao and Aamir and sometimes Srk even during the aamir-srk fight period. He plays safe. NO CONSISTENCY. Wants to put his feet in each and every boat.

Karan shows himself as friend of ranveer singh, deepika. But his enemity with SLB is so strong that during bajirao-dilwale clash ,,,even during trailer launch to film release he didnt speak a word for bajirao in twitter. He was doing only kajol's dilwale promotion. The same kajol whom friendship he ditched recently.This is the ethics of KJO.
2. During the Priyanka Chopra-Gauri Khan controversy, many people felt that he was just being hypocrite. Is it that the other woman always has to be blamed? If he cares for Gauri why doesnt he have a word with SRK. Like most people karan also thinks Pee Cee is snatching SRK from gauri. As if SRK is a kid. If so much care for Gauri why not confront SRK and fight for gauri?..rather than trying to isolate peecee in the industry by ganging up with people against her including farah khan, twinkle , suzzane
3. He comes guarded and objects to certain questions in interviews and even in SIMI GAREWAL show but other hand he has the right to talk and dig out controversies through his personal questions asked in koffee with karan.

4. even aditya chopra, sajid nadiadwala, Farhan Akhtar, Vipul shah have their own favourite inborn house talent they want to promote through their movies.But they dont do it OVER THE TOP, TOO MUCH EXCESS like Karan Johar does to promote Alia Bhatt.
The bhatts and the Johars had a fallout after Duplicate in 1998. the Bhatts used to say we make , content driven films with serious subject so what if has some sexual tone ...but the chopras , johars just make candyfloss romance.
Now imagine guys it is this Bhatt who have handed their daughter to the dharma camp which they criticised earlier times.
Alia is good.Today i was watching Zoom, then NDTV where Alia's interview with barkha dutt was . airing
Few points from Barkha dutt interview with Alia Bhatt
1. It felt the soul of karan johar has entered inside her. As karan johar has no personality and showing 32 teeths all time.Similarly Alia was too chirpy.She does that in all interviews.But she is now on a success pedestral, Shouldnt she talk in a calm, dignified, serious way.But she has got hyperactiveness of ranveer singh and talkativeness of karan johar.
I felt bad seeing the interview cause her success and the feel of being a serious actor didnt reflect. Thanks to her GURU KJO.
If you watch parineeti, deepika, Anushka .they answer the questions very articulately not giigling and showing yo yo..iam the next gen cool youngistan..This is what Alia tries to show. But the person responsible is not Alia but Karan Johar her mentor.
5. Just look at succesful directors like bhansali, Aditya chopra, Imtiaz Ali, and most important Rajkumar Hirani. They are respected, people love them.They dont need behave as a clown like karan johar does by shoving his actors forcefully down our throats.
I know one thing that his candidates will suffer ahead because of KJO.
Aditya chopra might be a good friend of KJO but chopra is clever ,He never gets used by KJO. Sorry Alia no YashrajFilm ahead . so what if befikre is flop, YRF is still the most sought after banner in India. No Excel entertaintment as Farhan Kjo dont have that great equation, Especially after baar baar dekho flopped. No Bhansali film with Alia . The harsh words between Kjo and SLb might have ended, but SLB doesnt forget. He will never promote Karans talent. . Karan is also having some issues with Ndiadwala. and Nadiadwala are promoters of ktiti, shraddha, Tiger, Sooraj and some new upcoming star kids.
Poor Alia has to mostly do only dharma films. Its KJo who will be responsible .Because in order to create a bigger star he is creating a clown like him. I hope Alia ahead appears self poised not a jumpinp jack.
Whatever be...i dont care about Kjos sexual preferences, He is an awesome story teller. But as a person in real life his activities had been not pleasurable. He is not the KJo who started in 1998 as a director...over the years he has worsened..what you feel? Do you all like KJO?
