Ishwari is a person who has old world views which are tilted towaards the patriarchal system in India. i.e. Father/Son/Husband is the head of the household. Males are more important than females etc... Ishwari has seen/known 3 males in her life before Dev -- Her dad, husband and brother. It looks like her beliefs came from her mother and father being the head of the household, where he gave preference to his son(her brother) over her. Then her husband who also may have given preference to Dev or may have been happy with Ishwari after she gave birth to Dev. She also has seen how her brother behaves.
Even though maamaji is a nice person, he is shown to not be able to talk in front of his wife a lot of times. Ex -- Dev breaking engagement with Natasha, GKB taunting Sonakshi during the initial days when she came to Ishwari Nivas after burning her house where she called Sonakshi "naukrani" etc.
In most societies in India, having a living father acts like the shield for the family. When the father is alive, most people dont dare to disrespect the children or point fingers at them(Personal experience 😊). I am not saying it is correct, but it is how it is. This is also what Ishwari has experienced. She did not have anybody who could support her. Even though there was family in terms of daadi bua or others, they did not really come together as a family for her and be there for her in her hour of need.
In one of the episodes, she mentions how she was thrown out of the house in the middle of the night with her kids and how her brother provided her shelter in his house. At that time, maamaji mentions that he was able to provide shelter for only an week and he could not do more even though he wanted to indicating that GKB never really let him help Ishwari much. Whatever help he gave to Ishwari were mostly hidden from GKB. Imagine what Ishwari might have had to hear from GKB anytime she needed help, even if it was very small and maamji gave her that.
This has had a huge impact on Ishwari. She fears being subjected to the same situation with Dev's wife... We all know that Sonakshi is not like that nor Dev... But then for Ishwari her brother was also a good person who loved her and cared for her before he married GKB. With having a wife, mamaaji was forced to change his priorities whether he liked it or not. He had to abide by what GKB said. As can be seen GKB is very greedy, so we can imagine the clashes that might have happened when maamaji had tried to help Ishwari. She is now comparing Dev with maamaji...
For Ishwari that period of life is a nightmare. This has created the "what if" scenarios in her head to such an extent that she lives in constant fear of those "what ifs" coming true. Like What if Sonakshi asks Dev to move out? What if Dev forgets his responsibility for his sisters because he was involved with doing something with Sonakshi like maybe picking up his sister(just an example. btw he did forget to pickup Ishwari from temple 😆 during breakup phase), what if Dev gives all his money to Sonakshi because she asked for it? Consciously Ishwari knows this will not happen. But unfortunately she is not able to let go of this fear too for now.
And having people like GKB or Neha fueling her insecurity all the time telling how Sonakshi has taken over the house is not helping either. GKB and Neha constantly tell Ishwari that Dev spends all his time with Sonakshi, that Sonakshi likes to make only her decisions important for Dev, that Dev all the time listens only to Sonakshi etc... Her judgement right now is clouded by what she is hearing and what she thinks she is seeing...
Another big drawback for Ishwari is Dev putting her on pedestal which is also fueled by maamaji. She also feels that Sonakshi might see through her mistakes and bring her weakness to light. She feels that since Sonakshi is very capable, she might take over being the head of the household and she might become second priority to Dev. ishwari fears being in second place... once again cause of her experience.
But there will come a point where Dev will question her conditional love and her unwarrented fears without the help of alcohol. That will be the day Ishwari will truly face herself and her past and start her journey of healing...
This is my take based on my experience and what they have shown in the series so far... Hope I made sense...😊
