Confirmed! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Deepika Padukone will not share screen space in Padmavati

There is no scope to include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati'.

Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most favourite actresses of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Just few days ago there was this news that the Bachchan bahu has been approached by the renowned director for his upcoming film Padmavati'. The minute it flashed on all social media platform, the next thought was instead of Deepika Padukone will Ash take away all the limelight. And since both these ladies are ruling the industry, the movie lovers were thrilled to see them sharing screen space for the first time. Back then the news was neither confirmed by the makers of the film nor the actresses. Now there's an update stating that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will not be seen in Padmavati'. Yep, she's not doing any role in the upcoming film.

A source close to the director of Padmavati' has spilled the beans to a leading daily on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's collaboration with the upcoming project.DNA quoted the source saying, "They meet socially (last at the Bachchans' Diwali bash). He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) counts her (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) as one of the few friends he has in the industry. But that's it. There's been no talk of working together on Padmavati." Earlier it was reported that SLB has roped her in for a dance sequence which was never seen before and not just that, she has even been given good dialogues.

But now with the update that is revealed by the source, it is clear that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not part of SLB's another magnum opus Padmavati' as a second actress cannot be included neither in a leading role or a just a song. About it the source further said, "The conflict in the plot hinges on the three characters - Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), who falls for Padmavati. Aditi Rao Hydari plays Khilji's wife. Besides that, there is no other female character." It is known to everyone that initially it was Ash who was supposed to play the titular role but when Ranveer Singh came on board, the lead actress had to be changed

On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar's blockbuster film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' in which she was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone is gearing up for her Hollywood debut xXx: Return of Xander Cage'. For more updates, keep watching this space.

In all honesty Aish does work better with Sanjay. Deepika was half asleep playing Mastani. Not that his films are great. But him and Aish share a connection and extract the best from each other. Even though Sanjay's best work remains Khamoshi and best female performances are by Manisha and Rani. But him and Aish have a good record and rapport.

In his movies- His connection with Ash is strong & potent, I feel like he got her, and she for him, are one of the few actual friends friends in BW. Not the type who meet everyday or talk a lot, a lot has to do with the fact that they don't feel the need to.

Ash is always best represented as an actor with SLB.

OT: DP looked absolutely like an exquisite vision in BM but as Mastani, she was lacklustre. She has the perfect period face but none of the grace , dancing skills & aura required for such setups even though she carries herself very well. But Ash is Ash. In a way I am glad she isn't doing Padma because it would take away from the movie for the other actors in terms of visual appeal- I mean. Look at that face & aura & tell me no. 😆

Deepika was the weakest link amongst the entire cast of BM. She failed miserably in portraying Mastani. Her dialogue delivery is cringeworthy. Don't know is baar kiya karegi.

It wasnt just aura. She was very mechanical in the role. Like she was reciting lines not feeling the moment. Agree with the rest of your post. You put it into words much better than I did.
