Aditi holds Shravan's hand possessively and leads him on.
Sumo watches both of them go. She goes home. And cries herself to sleep.
Next day Shravan does not come for shooting. He had requested for a day off. So the crew shoot scenes that don't require Shravan to be present. Suman is the most upset about this. She is unable to share it with anybody also. This eats her from inside. She barely makes it to give her shots and goes to rest in her room. She misses him terribly. I know that I don't have any rights on him but what to do I cant stop thinking about him... kya socha tha maine aur kya hua...kya karoon main...I don't know...
Aditi accompanies Shravan to the shooting sets for the next few days. Both Shravan and Sumo fulfil their professional duties. Both of them are aware of each other's pain but are unable to do anything about it. Aditi makes sure that she is always with Shravan thus giving no chance to both of them to even talk normally.
One day, in between shots, Sumo receives a call from Shravan's mom.
Chaaya: Suman beta...
Sumo: Yes auntie...
Chaaya: Beta this Sunday we are having the engagement function of Shravan and Aditi. It is a small close knit affair only among the family members and we would like you to attend since you are also part of the family.
Although she knew that this was bound to happen, when she heard it from Chaaya she was shaken. She managed to tell Chaaya that she will try her best to come. Once she puts the phone down she walks as if she is in a trance. She just goes out of the set not hearing anybody calling her. Shravan was on the phone saw Sumo walking out of the set.
Sh: Mom can I talk to you later...I have to go now.
Chaaya: Okay beta. Just wanted to tell you that I have just now spoken to Suman and invited her for your engagement function. Both of you come together, okay.. Take care.
Shravan now knew why Sumo was walking like that. He runs behind shouting her name. He runs and manages to pull her just in time before being hit by a car. He hugs her.
Sh: Sumo, what are you doing? What if the car had hit you?
Su: Good only...I would have reached my parents..
Sh: Don't talk rubbish. How can you say that? Agar tume kuch ho jatha tho, what will happen to me?
Su: What will happen to you? Nothing. Life will go on...Anyhow I don't have anybody in this world, so why and for whom should I live?
Sh: Please Sumo, aise math bolo. I am here...i shall continue to be your friend...
Su: Why are we lying to ourselves, Shravan. Both you and I know that we cant continue to be only friends. So why this hypocrisy. Ise yahi katam kar de. Let's not pretend that we can be friends.
Sh: What you say is true. I am sorry Sumo, I am helpless. And he is in tears.
Su: Shravan I fully understand you. But I cant continue like this. I shall quit this show and move off to Delhi. Because I cannot undergo this torture anymore Shravan. Seeing you in front of me knowing fully well that you are off limits for me is killing me everyday.
Sh: Do you think it is easy for me? I am also in the same boat Sumo. But please don't quit the show...don't spoil your career because of this..
Su: No its okay Shravan. I shall move to Delhi and start afresh. I shall do something else.
Shravan is unable to do anything and watches Sumo going back. He is angry with himself.
Since Sumo is unable to refuse Chaaya's invitation, she agrees to go for the engagement. She knows that she will be dying inside while attending the function.
It is the day of the engagement. Sumo had been on her feet all day helping Chaaya and Archana Maasi with all the arrangements. She personally supervises the decorations, catering arrangements.
Pushkar: Bhaiya why is Sumo here? I can see that she also loves you and that she is trying to cover up her sorrow by being over active. I am worried about her.
Sh: I know Chote. She has been invited by Maa & Papa. What can I do?
All the guests arrive. The Singhanias also arrive. They are welcomed by the Malhotras. Before the function starts Aditi comes and tells her parents as well as the Malhotras that she wants to talk to them in private.
Other than Shravan and Aditi, Ashish, Chaaya, Archana, Pushkar and Sumo - from the Malhotra side and Rakesh, Rajini and Kamini bua - from the Singhania side have assembled in a closed room.
Aditi: Maa, Papa, Aunty & Uncle I want to talk to all of you. I am not willing to get engaged to Shravan.
Everybody is shocked..
All: But why beta?
Some time back...
Aditi had gone looking for Shravan. He was in his room getting ready. She goes and locks his room from inside.
Sh: Aditi, what are you doing here?
Adi: Shravan... I want to talk to you.
Sh: Bolo...
Aditi: I wanted to ask you what is that Suman Tiwari doing in our engagement function?
Sh: Aditi she is our family friend and she has been invited by my parents. So she is here. But what is your problem?
Aditi: I don't like her attending this function.
Sh: Sorry, Aditi tough luck. She will be part of today's function.
Aditi: I don't like her Shravan. I don't want you to continue your acting career. Because if you are in that field you will get to interact with her and I don't want her in our lives at all. So I want you to quit your acting career. You can join my dad's business. He will be happy to take you under him.
Sh: What are you saying Aditi? Acting is not my career. It is my passion.
Aditi: Okay then give me a promise that you will quit the current assignment and also in future will not act with Suman at all.
Sh: ADITI...you cannot order me in my professional career. And by the way who are you to say that... Even my parents did not object in pursuing my interest. If you are like this now itself, how will you be after our marriage?
Aditi walks out angrily and thus the meeting now.
Rakesh Singhania: Shravan beta I think you should consider Aditi's request.
Sh: Sorry uncle. She cannot interfere in my professional life.
Aditi: Shravan what is wrong? As I said you can join my Dad's business.
Sh: Maa, Papa - I am sorry. I cannot consent to this marriage if this is what Aditi wants. Because I shall never agree to Aditi's condition.
Rakesh: Shravan after all it is a small request from Aditi. She is going to share her life with you, so what is wrong if you adhere to her request. If you cannot do even this for my daughter, how do I know if you will keep her happy in future.
Sh: Uncle you need worry about that. I will definitely try to fulfill all her wishes except this.
Rakesh: Shravan I did not expect this from you. Is this how you repay somebody who has saved your life.
Sh: Uncle, please don't misunderstand me. I shall be forever grateful to you for that. But acting is my passion, uncle. Please don't ask me to compromise on that.
Kamini Bua: Rakesh beta, maine poocha tha thumse whether you are sure about the choice of Shravan for our Aditi. But you said he is such a nice boy. Look at him now, he is not ready to listen to Aditi. But what else can you expect from somebody whose roots we don't even know?
Rakesh: Bua, what are you saying?
Kamini: Rakesh don't you know that Shravan is Ashish and Chaaya's adopted son. He is not their own son. So he is not even a Malhotra. And you want to get our Aditi married to a nobody?
