TV hasn't progressed at all; it has only gone backwards: Reena Kapoor

Television actor Reena Kapoor says television content has not developed at all in the last few years, and has regressed even further."A lot needs to develop when it comes to television. I will say we have not progressed at all and have only gone backwards. People don't make shows anymore, the way they were made earlier and I miss that," says Kapoor, who is best known for her role of Rani Mittal in the show Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki. The actor blames the need to deliver content daily.

"In the old days shows were not daily but deeply written. People used to focus on creativity instead of writing just about anything for the television show. I think the pressure of daily soaps has taken away the creativity. I don't think we have progressed at all," she says.

The actor is looking forward to taking up shows which are not regular.

"I want to take up anything which is different and everything which is there but not common in our house. Kitchen politics is in every house and people know what will happen in the show. I want to do stories which are there but people tend to overlook," she says.

Tfs...amazing answers by reena mam. Seriously, in this era where everyone has got a modern outlook, shows like naagin and brahmrakshas which are utter nonsense garn high numbers and rule the trp charts. She has said it true that creativity is lost from indian telly soaps. Shows which presesnt something different fail badly when it comes to numbers. This depicts the narrow and close-mindness of we indians. I am happy that an actor like her was a part of this show, but it feels sad when we look back and realise that she is no more a part of our show. I wish her all the luck for her future endeavors. May god bless her!

Sahi pakde hai ... TV shows nowadays are just regressive and pathetic and now we are going to the era of snakes , witches , vampires and kitchen politics ... There is nothing new in the name of creativity ... Even if some shows show creativity then they have to shut down their shop soon bcz of regressive system called TRP which is just purely business and money minded ad nothing else ... Courtesy to EK , RS & GK for showing all crap they can dish out that now hardly creativity is shown in any show ... 🤔🤔🤔

Earlier CVs invested time in creativity. One show was aired once or twice per week. So, CVs go for brain storming seasons, create variations from locations to costumes. But right now, many are involved in money making business. And I don't give100% fault to CVs as viewers have also equal fault in it. Out of the box concepts are not encouraged by many section of viewers. The repetitive kitchen polices, Naagin, Brahmarakshas, Makhi drama grab TRPs. If these common shows grab TRP then why the CVs will go for innovative shows? As the serials are a part of money making program. Kudos to Reena mam for showing the pristine mirror to us! Your decisions to do apt shows are praise worthy. We will miss you in Shakti.
