Veer lovingly said to jodha, "If god willing and my fortune bestows upon me than I would like to confess something to you jodha, will you be ready to be my bride? I love you, jodha.
I have fallen for you charm and innocence the day I first met you, it was the best moments ever for me. The day you entered into my life everything changed forever and for the best and you did be my destiny".
On hearing this heartfelt confession from Veer blush imbued her cheeks and her expressive brown orbs lit up while her countenance had a radiant glow that made her totally speechless. Her blushful cheeks had brought a sly smirk on his lips.
His heart felt contented to see the impact he had on her, but then this joy was short lived as he could judge the effects which would leave upon her when she realizes his true identity.
But he shrugged off these thoughts as for now he decided to enjoy this special moment with her and so with a mischievous smile he asked, "Do I need to satisfy my hunger with your blushes or will I get anything to eat for dinner too?"
Jodha felt embarrassed at his statement and couldn't meet her eyes with him, Veer was truly enjoying her lovely antics and slowly he raised her chin with his finger and said, "You look more enticing to me when you blush".
On hearing this compliment from her lover, she couldn't face him anymore and leaned forward to hug him whilst putting up a broad smile Veer enveloped her in his warm hug tightly.
Jodha broke the hug and said, "I shall make ready for your dinner to be served, as she left she turned back to give a joyful and contented smile that lit up her beauteous features.
Veer just smiled and said, "But you haven't yet reciprocated to my question, what should I take it as?"
In the meanwhile, the dinner was served and jodha filled the glass with water, all the while having a mischievous smile on her lips.
Veer decided to prod her again and demand a reply from her, "How long do I need to wait for your answer, should I take it as yes or no?"
Jodha seemed to be in playful mood and decided to be a tease a thorn. She shushed him and said, "Shhh, don't you know that while eating one shouldn't speak it's not good".
Veer resolved to remain quiet for sometime till the dinner was over after which he was determined to get the answer from her in his own style and simpered at her tricks which surely didn't go unnoticed by jodha who was left woolly by his smirk.
She got up only to be stopped by Veer who held her hand and said, "Where are you going? No need to bring anything it's been a long time where we have shared our food from the same plate.
After ages we have got this opportunity why do you need to eat separately when I am here to share with you? Let us have together".
Saying so, he made her sit beside him, jodha seemed to have been overwhelmed with his gesture even though this wasn't the first time both had eaten from the same thaali(plate) but probably today was something different in the ambiance, as the air smelled the fragrance of fresh love that had blossomed with his confession and now this gesture of having food together made her very emotional and the tears of happiness welled up in her eyes.
She instantly wiped it out lest it's been seen by Veer who might have had not liked to see the tears in her eyes even though it would had been of happiness.
She simply smiled and Veer took the first morsel of the food and gently fed her. The next moment jodha too fed him with another morsel of food all the while both were engaged in each other expressing the unspoken words through their eyes.
Just then few tresses of hair did fall on her forehead, Veer closed the distance between them whilst both their heart beats were in sync with each other and very gently he tucked her strands behind the ear.
Jodha felt the blush suffusing her cheeks, Veer looked at her shy face, she could no more resist his intense gaze falling on her and so she dumped another morsel of food into his mouth, Veer just stared at her whilst jodha simply giggled.
Later that night, Jodha stood near the window whilst smiling and recalled his lovely confession, the mere thought of becoming his bride had made her heart flutter, her dreams of having a beautiful life with him flashed in front of her eyes.
Veer stealthily approached from behind and placed his hand on her shoulder which brought jodha back from her chimera, Veer totally in confused state asked her, "Where are you lost jodha?" saying so, he held her by her shoulders and turned towards him and said with a slight glint of mischief in his eyes, "Do you still want to have fun? Do you love me seeing in pain?... why...?"
Jodha instantly covered his mouth with her hand and said, "No, certainly not, I can never see you in pain, if anything has to happen to you then first it has to go through me", all this she said in one breath as her eyes filled with tears, she could no more hold her emotions back she felt and immediately gave him a bear hug.
Veer smirked, as his trick had worked wonders whilst reciprocating her with a hug. But then the immediate moment color drained out of his face, his countenance looked dull as the thought of letting her know the truth feared him to the core. He felt his heart twitched in pain.
However, now he could no more keep her in darkness and so with a heavy heart he decided to reveal her everything, meanwhile he retrieved the hug and in a low tone said, "I shall be leaving this place and I cannot guess whether I will return back".
Jodha till now had been lost in his cozy cuddle and reliving the very moment which she barely liked to get away, on getting to know this, she felt lifeless within her.
She raised her head and blankly said, "Why so?"
Veer in depressive tone said, "Do you want to know the reason why?"
"I feel it's a pretty long story which I do not want to trouble you with but promise me that you will be always by my side in happiness as well as in pain?"
Jodha in trembling voice said, "B...but grandpa..."
"Jodha, you do not worry about it just leave it on me as I will take care of it and shall talk with your grandfather".
For a long time jodha was lost in thoughts, no doubt she had loved him very dearly and couldn't get enough of him.
She couldn't think of what was wrong and what was right at this particular moment but only thing which she feared as of now was of loosing him.
It was final that Veer had come to his terms of revealing what he was, his real identity, though somewhere in his heart he had been aware of the outburst of emotions from her as well at the same time he feared for the sheer rejection from her, but then he was prepared for all this since someday it was bound to happen once she gets to know about him.
He opted to tell her the truth and bear the consequences as he loved her immensely as his fate had been bind to her.
Veer slowly raised her chin and said, "Jodha, I shall live this life only and only for your sake, I shall return soon to this very place and to you jodha my darling, the guardian angel of my life, as soon I shall become the Emperor of Hindustan, and if by the blessings of god, I will do things which the world will value as things as incomparable".
Jodha was overwhelmed with his fervent promises but then what she heard left in utter dismay, did she really hear him saying as the Emperor of Hindustan? She was bewildered at his words with eyes wide open she stared with a blank look on his face.
"Are those enthusiastic words outcome of sheer madness?" she thought to herself.
It was clear now, that the statement coming straight away from Veer's mouth made her go bonkers as she just giggled on whatever he had professed to her.
Watching jodha giggling Veer gave a puzzled look since he couldn't get to know so as to what had made her giggle as he clearly recalled his words that had no inch of any hilarious quip to tickle her funny bone then was it that she was drawn into shock out of which she couldn't accept it that made her giggle?
Many questions revolved around in his mind, but he shrugged them all and in a firm voice he said, "Jodha, my dearest what has get into you that made you giggle? I am no Veer Singh, nor any rajput prince but I am none other than jalal, Shehzaada Jalal and I am very sure you might have known my name".
Blood drained out from her face as she was perplexed with this piece of information and involuntarily she said, "Jalal, Shehzaada Jalal!"
Jodha was trying to get up while she looked daze and cast a longing look at jalal. At that very moment jalal held her soft hands and made her sit beside him.
With a smiling countenance and glint in his eyes he said, "I very much can understand your feelings so as to what you are at present going through and I can assure you that all your doubts and confusion will be solved by your revered grandfather".
With a contented look he said, "I owe a heavy debt of gratitude to your grandfather, had he not tucked me in this very ruined city I would have met the same fate as other criminals do and that meant landing up in some darkness of the dungeon for my entire life".
"Oh my darling jodha, how much I am indebted to your grandfather".
Jodha was startled and remained rooted at the place. Her mind squabbled with this thought, "So, he isn't a fugitive rajput prince, but Shehzaada himself.
Now everything seems crystal clear to me, the very fact that my old grandpa had given me such a high level of upbringing with the education in par with the preceding excellence was only worth of comparing with the nobility".
Jodha felt her heart pacing against her ribs, there was some kind of mixed feelings mingled with happiness and nervousness going on in her heart.
She felt like placing her hands on her chest only to calm her rapidly beating heart but she couldn't as much before that jalal had already taken her hand into his.
She had no idea how to calm her tensed nerves, jalal could very well see and feel her inner turmoil and so he took her hand near his lips and placed a kiss which sent shivers down her spine.
Jalal smiled and said, "I know I can say that this news has startled you. I am also very well aware that you might have utter dislike towards the Shehzaadas and the scions of the royal family".
"It is quite reasonable for you to have dislike towards them probably because of their debauchery, obnoxious character given to drinking and decadent acts, but trust me jodha I do not fall into that category and I am a man of a character, after having spent most of the time with me do you really feel so that I am a detestable man?"
Jodha quickly released her hand from his grasp and stood a little far from jalal and said, "Your Majesty, pardon me as I couldn't recognize you as the Shehzaada of the sultanate and so might have at times acted funny so forgive me for all my deeds".
Jalal casted an earnest look on jodha's face and in a firm voice he said, "Jodha, you're my true love and you will be my begum, a true companion of my life, you will be the jewel of my sultanate and all will follow your wishes and act as per your will".
Jodha seemed to have not liked his words. Being a commoner she never was impressed with the way these royals lead a life and so in a low voice she said, "Your Majesty, pardon me but I would only like to say that do not repeat these words anymore".
Jalal calmly said, "Why not jodha? I have no qualms in repeating the same vows right in front of everyone as you are my life.
I have given you my entire life and soul and I want the entire world to know about it and I really do not find anything wrong in it since I love you wholeheartedly".
While saying so, he pulled her towards him and in a husky voice he said, "There is no need to fear at all, while for you I would definitely become the Emperor of Hindustan, you will be Malika e Hind and also Malika of my heart".
Jodha looked altogether in confused state; she couldn't really as of think now, where his love filled confessions had made her feel ecstatic but knowing his truth her face drooped in sadness.
She couldn't decide for herself whether to give in to his lovey dovey confessions or to let him go, but then how could she? Jodha had loved him immensely more than her life, she couldn't imagine a day without him and here if she had to leave him it would be only worst thing which she couldn't even think of dreaming it in her widest of the dreams.
Tears of happiness cascaded from her eyes whilst she wiped them of, forgetting everything as she embraced him.
Meanwhile, both were in their heavenly bliss of their embrace jalal whilst caressing her hair said, "Jodha now let me narrate everything in detail to you".
Jodha looked nonplussed at jalal as he continued to narrate, "Possibly you might not know that my father had decided to make my elder brother Shehzaada Nazim as the successor of the throne and all preparations were done as per the protocol, to which I never had objected for this since I had no wish for the throne, but then I am a person who dislike injustice and so I was compelled to change my mind the moment I had come to know about my Mirza Chachajaan who had been secretly devising a plan to place Shehzaada Nadir on the throne".
"Mirza Chachajaan has been smart enough to always have fooled my father who always made to see that Chachajaan is involved in all the political discussions and other matters and give his solutions as he has always given right advices on the complex issues, but I am simply not aware whether my father anytime got any clue of Chachajaan's motive".
Jodha was listening to what jalal had to say in calm and composed manner, but one question did sprung up in her mind and so as to clear her doubt she asked, "Your Majesty, if you wouldn't mind can I ask you something?"
Jalal simply nodded affirmatively, to which jodha responded, "Why would your Mirza Chachajaan want to place your younger brother on throne when he was much younger to you?"
Jalal calmly said, "Jodha the reason was simple Chachajaan is an ambitious man he himself wanted to rule this sultanate but couldn't do so since my grandfather had declared my father as the emperor, which did bruised my Chachajaan's ego add on to this he couldn't wage a war openly against my father as he had very few ministers who could support him in his cause and so what he couldn't achieve for himself he thought of achieving it through his son in law Shehzaada Nadir by making him the successor of the throne".
Jodha was taken by surprise with this revelation but she dint utter a word or so. Jalal spoke, "Jodha let me tell you the rest of the part where I stopped".
"Listen jodha, when these facts came into light, Omar Khan the great general and my best friend Amar Singh along with other rajput generals had come up with a foolproof plan to place me on the throne and their continuous appeals and requests made me accept this proposal".
"Mirza Chachajaan somehow smelled the wind and he tried to carry out all the attempts in removing me since I was a thorn in his way".
Jodha was petrified with this news and said, "What a terrible man he seems to be!"
Jalal heaved a deep sigh and putting up a satisfactory smile on his lips he said, "Probably one day you might meet him but then he is not that bad jodha, however when the throne of Delhi is the bone of contention, then all the good deeds get camouflaged".
On hearing this, jodha trembled in fear as her face turned pale and in a low voice she said, "Your Majesty, I do not want to go anywhere and please do not take me to Delhi as I am happy to stay here itself".
Jalal just smiled and taking her hand in his he said, "Certainly, jodha you are my angel and I will abide by your will. Had I been in Delhi two days before, then I would have lost my life that day itself.
Nevertheless the fate had given me another opportunity, there was this kaneez in my father's harem with the name ganga who had come up with a thorough plan as she sent me the information and with all her help I was successful in absconding from the palace".
"Do you know jodha, it was her who had sent me to your grandfather and as per her suggestion I had taken the garb of a woman and retreated from the palace and had arrived here. Did you notice me?"
"I was so much terrified with your look".
"Did I look like uncultured and weird?"
"No, not in that sense I didn't really mean that".
"Ganga is hand in gloves with Omar khan and so does your grandfather who belongs to the same school of politics. Omar khan is of immense help to me as you might have already come to know about him by now.
If not for your grandfather Asma and Ismail, I would have been held captive long ago, it was for me that Jai Singh was here after which Ahmed followed him in search of me but to their bad luck both dint get any success and which is why the emperor himself had to come in person in search of me".
Jodha countenance had a tint of glow whilst with a glint of humor she said, "I am very sure now that none would like to venture her and risk his life again".
Jalal with broad smile said, "Most probably".
Jodha now asked in a firm tone, "Tell me what makes you leave us?"
Jalal said, "Have patience jodha, let me tell you everything what has happened..."
Jodha was clueless as she asked, "Is there anything which is..."
Jalal interrupted her and said, "Omar khan and Amar Singh had prepared themselves with their vast force of army for my assistance and were heading towards this deserted city where Amar kept updating me with each and every bit of information about their arrangements, finally we had come to the terms that once everything gets settled I would openly join them. Everything worked according to the plan.
But alas! Don't know how Chachajaan got the clue of our plan and within no time he had sent Shehzaada Nazim to crush our motive, against Amar Singh and Omar khan where there was horrendous war waged between them and finally one of them had to taste the defeat as it always occurs in the game of war one side turns out to be victorious while the other is left to face the defeat".
Jodha with a perplexed look asked, "How come and why?"
Jalal in a depressive tone said, "This sudden war had brought victory to Omar khan and Amar Singh but then my elder brother Nazim bhaijaan was mercilessly murdered".
"Shehzaada Nazim is dead?"
"Yes, jodha, Nazim bhaijaan had approached his death, we are yet to know the details about it but then the overall results of this war could be said as neither of them had complete victory over the other as my dearest friend Amar Singh sacrificed his life in this battle".
Jalal could no more hold his tears back and in a total despair he said, "I am the root cause of this problem jodha, if I had not been disguised as a woman and remained concealed here, instead would had I been on the side of my best friend Amar during war, he wouldnt have lost his life and I wouldn't have been mourning this day for the loss of my august friend".
For a long time there was absolute silence in the air. Jalal was mourning for his best friend Amar Singh while silently sobbing as he wiped his tears. Jodha didn't know how to console him and so decided to give him some space to come out of this pain.
After some time, jalal regained his composure and continued further, "With the news of Amar Singh being dead the rajput forces got disheartened and were left panic struck and they retreated to their native land.
While on the other side, the emperor had embarked on his journey to reach this ruined city, Omar khan was left with no other option but to retreat back to Delhi.
He had sent me a message saying that if I didn't join him immediately he would renounce this world and live rest of his life in the holy city of Mecca since he dint inculcate any interest to fight all alone with the emperor".
Jodha placed her hand on his and said, "I feel the best thing is let him retire to Mecca as I won't be allowing you to go and meet him, why do you need another bloodshed and terror again?"
Jalal forcefully laughed and said, "I really cannot say what would have happened to me if I had not met you before jodha and so I have determined to make you the empress of Hindustan even if that meant to go against my father".
Jodha just placed her palm on his lips and said, "No, you cannot do this as I do not have the ambition to be the empress of Hindustan".
Jalal just gently removed her hand and said, "I know you very well jodha that you are not an ambitious girl and have no such interest of becoming the empress but you can be assured that whatever I will be doing is not for my own sake.
I would rather prefer to spend all my life along with you as my soul mate in this lonesome place. Trust me jodha, the days I have spent with you till now are the most precious moments in my life as I love you very much".
"Then why worry so much about the war and its resultant evils?"
"Jodha, if I have to stay alive then I will have to fight now otherwise I would be taken as captive and would loose my life which I shudder to think cause of your sake and even though I avert the death it's highly possible that I would be sent into exile into some distant place away from you".
"Why, you're Majesty?"
Jalal sniggered at her innocent query and with a smiling face he said, "Jodha, my darling, this is what the life of high profile people are, either I can become the emperor of Hindustan or I shall have to loose my life there can be no third alternative to this".
Jodha hung her face as she heaved a deep sigh and said, "Now, I feel that the poor ordinary people seem to lead a peaceful and happier life better than the rulers and the emperors".
Jalal said, "Indeed jodha, there is no iota of doubt that the commoners do lead a better life than the royal scions".
