Arjun is a kinda person who will not realise what he had until he has lost it 😳 He is self absorbed like u rightly pointed out and he has always taken everything around for him for granted. Be it Vandana who selflessly loves him more than her own son. He lets her do his chores like wash his clothes, cook food etc etc but won't acknowledge her role in his life. Vandana forced Ayaan to apologise to Arjun though the latter was at fault. He has no value for the little things Saanjh does for him coz he thinks its his birthright to expect anything from him and Saanjh would prioritize his needs over everything else in life.
Saanjh on the other hand is being stupid to presume Arjun will feel the same way for her as she does. Unfortunately she has only one sane person in her life and that is her dad. He knows there is a fair amount of chance that Arjun may not reciprocate his daughter's feeling and its sad his fear will turn out to be true.
As for Maya I feel bad for the trauma life has put her through that has turned her into this insecure obsessive person Her obsession will only deepen her already existing scars.
