Hi everyone, I have been a silent member mostly and enjoy reading all the posts on this forum. All of you writers are amazing and have very balanced and critical thinking! 👏
This week of KRPKAB has been very out of character for 2 of the 3 leads. The concepts of "independent thinking by a mamma's boy" and "independence of decision making inside the bedroom for a newly wedded wife" are both apt. But in my opinion, the makers have failed horribly at the portrayal of these same.

When Dev and Sona decided to bring about changes in that room of theirs, I thought its implicit that
(1) Sona will do changes which are acceptable to both as its both their room
(2) Sona will modify the changes based on feedback (said or unsaid) which are acceptable to both, e.g. keeping the swing in the corner near the door that goes into the garden.
(3) Dev to accept wholeheartedly the changes or communicate if something is bothering him. He owns a communication company, for heaven's sake, he should be the first to know the importance of that word.
(4) Dev could do a change to the addition, e.g. by suggesting to move it out of his way, especially after he bumped into it the second time.

But alas! None of this happened 😭 And the swing will be out of the room. And Dev-Sona and the audience are 3 steps back on the concern Sona had about having independence inside her room.

Now, coming to the second concept of being independent as an adult. In my opinion, what Sona wanted was for Dev to not depend on his mataji for small things such as (brushing his teeth, bathing him,) giving him clothes, feeding him with her hand etc. The execution started with her innocuous request to manage his own closet, however, soon it became a big deal about how he'd have to fold his clothes and no space in closet. Even previously, they were sharing the same closet, and apparently Sona was managing her side, and mataji was managing Dev's (which is an infringement to privacy). Again, a little help from both of them would go a long way!
(1) May be Sona can show Dev once or twice how to arrange the clothes nicely, especially since he knows nothing about that. Now thats for another discussion why he is so demented in this respect! May be because he did not have a closet with 2 shirts and 2 shorts.
(2) She can offer to fold the clothes for him and keep on bed, so he can put them inside.
(3) Both can agree that when ironed clothes come, they will keep theirs inside, and when looking for something, not mess up the entire thing.

Bottomline: set rules. But what happened here, Dev did not want to try hard or seek Sona's help. If he had 3 bags of clothes that were messed up and required folding, did he first check with Sona if she is willing to help? No. he runs straight to his mataji, who was waiting for this event. Now, its even better - she gets to keep her beloved's clothes in her closet, and smell them and hug them like she did whenever she pleases! Who found that creepy the way she hugged and smelled Dev's clothes after he left?

So, unless they are open with each other, these situations will keep on arising even after decades of marriage, if it lasts that long that is!

Very well said ! I think he gets some of his traits from his mahan mata where he agrees for somethings but creates a big tantrum to have his way. Sona did tell him about the Jhula but he was busy on phone and told her to get anything she wanted. Remember, he said that he would be fine if she changed the room color to maroon etc. Sona again asked him later if he was OK with her decorating the room and he again said that he was OK. Also, she is not telling him to arrange his closet because she wants him to do household chores. Any married couple would like some privacy and this is her way of keeping Matajee out of her closet. Remember, mamijee mentioned it as well.

Exactly, Sona's point for him working his way into the closet is not because she expects him to do housework and share 50% work or anything like that. Its just that mataji should stay out. The outcome is certainly the opposite. Mataji stayed out but the clothes went marching to her.
This can only be used for two things:
(1) Sona speaking this explicitly that her intention was for mataji to stay out of the closet
(2) Dev coming across the Prenup papers at some point to realize his mataji's insecurity

I think Matajee gave the prenup papers to the lawyer ! But it would be really great if he comes across the prenup papers in her closet. Also, didn't this guy just have 2/3 shirts and 2 night t shirts? He can't even share his closet space with his wife in his palatial house!
