The Original Daddaji, Gaytri, Akshra-Munna and The Original Rishta!

Hello Forum buddies!

Yeh Rishta is all set to make a new and fresh start and am least excited about it. Feeling Nostalgic with the flashbacks from the original Rishta. Glimpse of Akshra running at her terrace, Gaytri coming to see Akshra, Vishambhar and his appealing Marwari demeanor and not to forget the rock solid Daddaji!

Yeh Rishta gave me first shock when the first exit happened, and that too of the most strongest character of the show Daddaji and what replaced him was a mocking zero! No where near the giant personality of Sujoy Gandhi (I think the actor never got a brilliant opportunity before or I have not seen him)

I could never appreciate the always forgetting new Daddaji, Who can forget the episodes of nayi soch wherein Daddaji asked Akshra not to wear Pallu on head!

And what a rocking performance during Nakhra fist separation over Nandini Mohit! 👏👏


Sriji might be a good actor but she cud never take Gaytr's place I wish she sud not have left...She kept me spell bounded as that initial insecure mother in law and as a loving mother Her insecurity her anguish, her affection and her purity is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of anything about Nakhsra.

I so agree with one of the viewers/forum member who suggested to start a season 2 after finishing this one with Karan Mehra and Heena. Both never bonded but hats off to their professionalism and commitment for giving such a unmatched chemistry onscreen. 👏

I won't watch Yeh Rishta after Heena's exit, as I watch it only for her. But this will remain my all time favorite show in the whole telly history! And my favorite characters in order are-

Akshra
Daddaji (Original)
Vishambhar
Gaytri
Natik
Shaurya-Varsha (Of Original Rishta)

I will always keep the show in my memories specially the pre -wedding moments of Nakshra, their marriage preps their misunderstanding, and the whole show till the exit of Gaytri.

Am sure I wont feel it pleasant to watch post Akshra but I can bet it wud still remain best telly show as the other shows are over the top unreal and melodramatic and a big blot for any educated progressive society and encourage people to follow or stay on evil side because good always suffers. (With characters like Shagun, Dadi Rags (Suhani Ladki) Aaliya Tanu (Kumkum) Dadi (Swaragini) and the list is endless.

Every show has its share of tracks that work and that don't. To me what did not work are-

(1) Killing Gaytri rather than replacing her with Sriti, Gaytri's exit created a vaccum in the lives of on screen characters and so it did with viewers.

(2) The character of Muskan and Naman was not well worked upon! Muskan had nothing to do in the show!

() The charcter of Naman had no logic it kept dwindling!

(3) Karishma's chatcter was kinda okay but teh actor playong is annoying with her static stoned expressions

(4) The new Daddaji was a disaster... they should have done anything literary ANYTHING to keep the original dude in the show!

(5) With time Varsha Shaurya were not given enough screen space! And later they just became side charcters and then they ruined Shaurya with mindless sudden track of Sneha and Kuhu

(6) Anshu Jasmeet never appealed me (I so wished Jasmeet was not a Punjabi, cud have been better had she been of some other religion or cast ie- Rajput/Jaat/Bengali...Coz I never liked the girl speaking Punjabi because I am a punjabi and this is not way we talk like they show in tv serials I have not seen a single show in the history of Indian tv wherein they showed correct Punjabi accent and intonations and its a big turn off)

(7) Anshu Jasmeet story was not at all interesting

(8) The kid Nannu and the present Nannu both suck!

(9) The child Kuhu was was cute chirpy but the present Kuhu is boring and lacks spark

(10) Ananya was not given screen space after wedding! And I so wished for a love story for her too but they rushed for her wedding.

(11) Nandini Mohit disappeared! And they were important part before but they were forgotten.

(12) Rashmi's rejection/desertion by Nikhil was a disaster because it led to her second irritating wedding and that Gujrati Tadka was sooo annoying to me with sisters of Sameer and all.

(13) Yash's brother Anmol had no significant role though he could have played one.

(14) When I heard Aloknath is entering the show I expected a new niche for Yeh Rishta but he ruined it as his character was stupid and so was Tara.

(15) Tara Naksh ! No words to express irritation.

(16) Naksh had no role to play post leep. I did not like Naksh when he grew up! Because to be liked he was supposed to do something but the actor was not given anything to do onscreen.

(17) Akshra had nothing left to do so they kept showing her romance not complaining because i liked to see Akshra onscreen! But the fact is there is nothing left for teh caharcter to do, so if you like Heena she can appear again in a new younger avatar as a lookalike or something other if she is not leaving the show. But Yeh Rishta is not a show for look alikes, so its better if we have Heena in a new show by Rajan Saahi only as no one else can make a positive show.

(18) New Natik looked aged (suits his onscreen age) but i wanted the season to end with original Nakshra.

Please share your views/disagreements if its your favorite show too! I love it for its commitment to positivity!
I appreciate Rajan Sahi for giving us an example that its possible to have a positive show with good characters on the cursed planet called Indian Tv (That too on Star plus which is ill famous for Ekta's glorification of evil and crying pathetic women)

I had watched the show on and off since beginning..

Its true...they shed have ended the show with hiran itself
If production team had plan of ending akshara character, what was fun in bringing new naitik..
They shed gave killed nk character too..
Now also its not late...let them end the show with this Naksh.. With kaira n gayu- Vivian wedding...

I agree... For me the charm lost post the last leap... Until then it was believable to me somehow because it was the story of the entire family... But now it is only reduced to Kaira love story... they need to show development of other characters too... Hina did a good thing by quitting... there is hardly anything for her these days!!

In the midst of all the gayu-eww / kaira r awful, Hina should quit, new naksh & naitak r unbearable ... ur post came as a breadth of fresh air. U also r ranting ;) but in a very justifiable way. I luv it.
Can u suggest any episode from old times that would make me understand the old aura of the show. I started seeing the show with Kartick's entry. I like Mohsin khan so just followed him to his new show. I came on these forums looking for some sweet interaction but sadly ppl r so lost in sarcasm and hate posts that I just couldn't introduce myself or get to know another being here.

So true on the punjabi thing you said. The punjabi spoken in these indian serials is nothing like punjabi at all and makes me want to throw something at the tv. The actress playing toshi bhalla in yhm is the only time i have ever heard correct punjabi being spoken on tv, but then again she is a pakistani punjabi (I think so because I know she is a british-resident pakistani like my mum who is also from punjab in pakistan), so it makes sense that in all probability she improvises the punjabi lines because the writers are too stupid to create accurate punjabi dialogue. They need to portray punjabis more accurately.

I just read in a reply that someone has started watching the show with Kartik's entry, well buddy if you share the same taste as that of mine I wud say you have really missed the quintessence of Rishta! Because to me this show is the show of the decade I don't think I liked any other show this much after Ithihaas (DD national, surprisingly by Balaji Telefilms which is a sheer disgust to me now but Ithihaas was really absorbing)

That was the 'Rishta' which enthralled the viewers with Innocent Akshra (who every girl wud relate too, icing on the cake if you like that Rajput/Marwari backdrop which was beautifully interwoven with modern and traditional touch not exaggerated like other fake Marwari backdrops in serials.

It was spell bounding to see a dad's pride in his daughter, his anguish coupled with hurt when 'someone' (Rituraj) rejected his daughter...Akshra's fear /indecisiveness/instinct for chosing a partner it was so damn real no blowing of hairs and bla bla ...her decision to study or not to study etc...

The episodes are there on Hotstar I wud recommend to watch it till Naksh turned eight year old and if you can till Gaytri's death. Hope it helps!

About the specific episodes asked by a forum buddy, well it was in Nandini's wedding Bablu (Rituraj) was showcasing his wife Bindiya as the ideal bahu actually they were acting to respect all and love all more tahn Natik Akshra , Natik was jealous of him taht his family appreciates him ...a jealous Natik asks Akshra to wear a green lehenga in Teej to look more beautiful than Rituraj's wife...Gaytrui appreciates Bindita which affects Akshra sligtly ...During Nandini's wedding Daddaji ovrhears Bindiya saying to Rituraj she is tired of acting to smile to everyone, and tired of pallu over head..Daddaji realizes that respect lies in heart.
He calls Akshra to talk in private all the guests get shocked including Rajshri Vishambhar Gaytri and all that what he wanna talk? Has Akshra made some mistake?

Then we see Aksha coming downstaris without Pallu they all get shell shocked Gaytri asks Akshra why she is not having Pallu Rajshri scold her for forgetting Pallu all guests look on then comes Daddaji saying he asked her to! ''If our daughters dont do pallu why should our daughter in laws'' Natik/Munna; I know you also dont like Pallu and he smiles. Basically it wasRishta waahi soch nayi logo working in spirit. He appreciated Vishambar and Rajshri for Akshra's upbringing! and taht he is lucky to have Akshra as his bahu.

After that Gayatri got jealous tHat Akshra is given so much importance though she was happy too.😊

You mention it right Sammy17, but the reason of Toshiji being comparatively right in her accent has nothing to do with the writers its just the fact that she us Pakitstani and they are always right in accents be it urdu or Punjabi and you can watch any Zindagi show for that matter which is by Pakistani director.😊

in our Punjabi backdrops..
Jasmeet Twinkle and all those old bebes were irritating Its like Khanaji, RotiJI , tussiji Kha lo ji ...oops a heap of ji 😆 We don't put this much ji in our routine dialogues,Do we? Plus educated girls speak correct Hindi and it does not sound flow y or flowery and accent is intentional and that too is not fake or exaggerated like the one in serials.
