Forgive me all those who haven't seen the next six episodes on hotstar, coz behold !! This post has a lot of spoilers.
The relationship that Sartaj and Harleen share is like a very rough wavering graph. It's been seventeen years and Harleen has lived a life, in Sartaj's house as his wife and has waited and longed for his presence in her life for seventeen years. It's been seventeen years and Sartaj has lived a life sans Harleen. He has never considered her a part of his life in these years.
Hence now, he is finding it too hard to adjust to her. Yes, they do share some moments of understanding. He is getting used to her, but his gap of seventeen years from the world brings him back to square one. He wants to be able to handle himself, but the gap isn't allowing him to adjust to these changes in the world. He hasn't yet realized Harleen is his wife. As of now, she is simply his competition. Through her his ego is hurt. He cannot see her provide for his family and he himself not do anything.
He doesnt want to show himself weak. Harleen simply wants him to share his fears and sorrows with her, but he has learnt to deal with them himself. He is used to keeping it within himself. That now when Harleen tries to take care of him, he feels she is trying to show people he is a weak man.
To come to think of it, I am actually confused. Harleen is trying her level best to make Sartaj feel normal and comfortable. She has no intention of hurting him. Yet both are not at peace.
Sartaj is not opening up to her, but from his point of view it IS indeed quite tough. Their actions are not getting communicated to each other in the right way. When you see a ray of hope, the very next minute it vanishes.
Both of them need to give time to this relationship. It will take them time to let the differences sort out by themselves. It is such a delicate thread right now that it is only time that can heal their relationship, and help it bloom. As of now, there are only misunderstandings, and further more misunderstandings.
Let us wait and watch.
