Shikha has Abhi, the guy Sameera loves, she went through a huge heartbreak, and here Shikha was about to leave Abhi's life when Sameera risked her life and went to Shikha. She tried to get Shikha away from the place so she wouldn't kill herself, because her actions would affect a lot of people, one of them being someone she loved dearly and another being someone she respected a lot!

Ya she not only handled herself well but also tried to help Shikha cos she is related to Abhi and Veer. Very few girls would have been able to handle themselves so well let alone offer a helping hand.
