This show had everything to be EPIC! They did a GREATJOB in casting..All the actors fitted the characters they were portraying.Excellent cinematography, and the OST is PERFECT !
The story was promising in the start but they dragged the throne game until Ep.17 and left a little room for side stories to develop, I can't seem to understand the central focal point of the show, was it about romance or the "Throne game"?
Actually loved HS's transformation from chirpy little girl to caring mother , she left the palace and the man she loves for the sake of well being of her daughter..*sobs*
All bow to LJG , serioulsy if anything in this show which was consistent from ep.1, it was LJG's acting, he gave life to Wang So and GJ , he did COMPLETE JUSTICE to his characterization i can never imagine anyone else portraying WS except him, He was born to portray this complex character..
I was actually surprised to see such an amazing chemistry he had with IU, never thought that these two would pair up and create such an amazing pair!!!
SoSoo love story was intriguing and lovable but 10 episodes of slow development and then sudden rush of confession and separation was choke worthy!
The bigger blow came when WS became the king, she started to feel that she is being trapped in the palace politics and she is losing her sanity as well as the man she loves..
I can completely understand her reason for leaving the palace but I don't understand why the writer was so adamant to stick to the original BBJX to insert that "Letter play", I wanted the writer to change the scene and wanted WS to read the letter before her death and see her one last time .. *again sobs*
I feel the WookSoo romance was given more importance , seriously F***ing 10 episodes?! From 11th episode started WS and HS's epic love which was continuously disturbed by separation and misunderstandings..
I felt Eun's one side love on HS completely unnecessary, I felt it didn't serve any purpose at all.
They could have focused on Jung/HS ..because Ji Soo/Jung as caring and selfless husband was a surprise package in ep.20.
HS's death scene was heart breaking, when the singer said that "This song made the king to fall in love with a court lady" with flashback into WS listening to HS's song reminded all those happy moments between them!! 😭
At last came the ending? I was like W*F??!!! was it not enough to torture the viewers with their uneven and rushed story now serve them with an open ending or should I call W*F ending?
I knew that we were not going to get a HEA in Goryeo, but I really wished GHJ to meet modern WS instead of Ji Mong, whose role made no sense after ep.16..
The piggy back scene with Beakhyun's OST made me cry buckets 🥺..especially HS's dialogue
WS never came to know about the truth that HS was from future, she "Knew" how history was going to unfold , she knew how WS will be painted in history, She did every possible thing to make him a Wise and noble king..WS never came to know all this...
I am directing all my HATE AND FRUSTRATION to SBS for cutting THE MOST IMPORTANT SCENE which I was waiting for since the beginning , Yes! GHJ and modern WS meeting!!!! 😭
I would have been satisfied with just a meeting, because i know they will fall in love again in modern era..but it would have been logical and satisfying to end..ARGHH!!!
But still I don't regret watching Moon Lovers...Because this show evoked a strong and addictive side in me which was missing for a long time..
This show is giving all the BOF and YRB feels *sobs*
