Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reveals why she did NOT KISS Ranbir Kapoor in A

Now although we know for a fact that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shares some really hot chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil but that doesn't mean she has shed all her inhibitions. If you notice, not a single promo shows Aishwarya and Ranbir smooching or for that matter even kissing for a sec. While Karan Johar already asserted that he hasn't gone overboard in portraying romance and has made sure every scene is shot aesthetically. Aishwarya now reveals why she did NOT kiss Ranbir in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and the reason is not because of the Bachchans. Yes! In interaction with Filmfare, Aishwarya finally broke her silence on what's her idea of showing intimacy onscreen with reference to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. She said, "Ummm... I don't flippantly say yes to a film. I process it, discuss it with my director. On the set I'm a vocal and intelligent actor. I was never treated as a newcomer. Rituda, Aashu (Gowarikar), AJ (Ajay Devgn) in HDDCS, Shah Rukh Khan in Josh and Mohobattein... if I want to express myself on set, no actor or director ever had me feel like you can't share your thoughts. I've been like that from day one. When it comes to the comfort space, I've had rules. I was liberated in playing the reigning superstar's (SRK) sister in Josh. I loved Mansoor Ali Khan's cinema. He was ahead of his time. In Mohobbatein I had one scene and one song with Shah Rukh. It became the biggest romance. Post Chalte Chalte there was a sudden erasure of work and simultaneously a huge welcome from the West. I promised myself then that no one would decide my future. So Bride And Prejudice happened. It had a kiss in the script. But I said, Gurinder (Chadha, director) we can avoid it, because it isn't crucial to your story.' And you don't miss it between Martin Henderson and me at all.

"During that phase, I also did Shabd. There wasn't a kiss but there was intimacy shown by a female director (Leena Yadav). (Laughs) We filmed it in a way and joked that it could be my show reel to the West. I was okay with projecting intimacy without contact. Because I knew how much a kiss with me would be discussed. We came to Dhoom 10 years into my career, by which point a kiss had become a familiar sight. So with the changing times you consider what could be shocking or not with a sense of responsibility. A social and visual comfort comes with the changing times. You gauge that keeping your comfort space in mind. When I did the kiss in Dhoom, we decided to treat it in a scene. There's a dialogue in the kiss. It's not like there's a crescendo music and just a kiss. Hrithik and I don't run into each other's arms."
