Compared to life in a Haryana village, life in cities is s**t: Haryana-based TV show actors
Pratyush Patra
He's a Chandigarh lad who's won reality shows and she is a the atre actress who returned to Mumbai after completing her graduation from Singapore. And now, they're both playing Haryanvis in their debut TV show, which is based in a Haryana village, very different from their real lives. Prince Narula and Rytasha Rathore tell us how they are getting to know Haryana better.

'OBSERVED KANGANA SPEAKING HARYANVI IN TANU WEDS MANU 2'

"The character of a Haryanvi bahu is very different from me in real life, and at first, getting into character was hard. Our diction and accent master, Sunita Sharma, helped me become Badho. I don't like taking inspiration from other characters since all the clues are in the script itself, but then I saw Tanu Weds Manu Returns, where Kangana speaks in Haryanvi," says Rytasha, who plays the female lead in Badho Bahu.

She adds, "We shot for few days in a Haryana village and it was a beautiful experience we would observe the daily routine of the Haryanvi people. I saw them milking a cow with great cu riosity as t h a t 's something I have never done in my life.

It was amazing to see them eat what they grow, un like the kind of diet city people have. Our quality of life in the cities is s**t compared to theirs.Even the quality of air there is much better. Also, I did n't find the Haryanvi people belligerent at all. I mostly interacted with women there, and they were extremely welcoming."

'HARYANVIS ARE VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD'

Being a Punjabi, Prince wasn't unfamiliar with Haryanvi culture."In my college in Chandigarh, I had many Haryanvi friends from Rohtak and Panipat. I picked up the language and mannerisms from them. The accent and pronunciation of words in Punjabi and Haryanvi might be different, but the languages have a sim ilar tone. Whenever they call me, they speak in Haryanvi, and now I also talk to them in the same language, kyunki ab main Haryanvi har roz bolta hoon," says the former Bigg Boss winner. He adds, "Punjabis and Haryanvis have a great sense of humour. Jo jokes inn states mein chalte hain woh aur kahin nahin chalte. Haryanvis are very straight forward. They don't care if you get hurt, but they can't be diplomatic."

He plays a wrestler in the show, and for the role, he had to learn kushti. "I am very close to Sushil (Kumar) sir, and so I have discussed wrestling with him and observed his lifestyle, which I had done during Roadies as well. I also watched Sultan several times," he adds.
