India has no issue giving visas to Pakistan artistes: Home Ministry

New Delhi: India has has no problem in issuing visas to Pakistani artistes, a Union Home Ministry official said on Friday.

"Government of India has no problem in giving visa to any Pakistani artiste," a Home Ministry official told IANS.

"We have no problem in granting visas. If a person applies for visa and he fulfills the conditions, he gets it. It's not that we don't have to issue visa to Pakistani nationals," he added.

The statement comes after the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India on Friday announced it will not allow release of films with Pakistani artistes in single screens in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat.

In wake of the September 18 terror attack at an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, that left 19 Indian soldiers dead, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena told Pakistani artistes to quit India, and threatened action against films like "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" and "Raees", which have Pakistani artistes in them.

Subsequently, the Indian Motion Picture Producer Association said it has passed a resolution urging Indian filmmakers to avoid working with Pakistani artistes until bilateral tensions between the two countries subside.

Govt is welcoming Pak actors...but let us make sure that ADHM aur Raees nahi release hone paayein👍🏼 👏

india needs to stop giving visa n stop being so big hearted.. but it is theatres association which banned d movie n pak artists were banned by association... their rules their theatres their choice...

So the fight and protests should be against GOI...why are people and organizations targeting the poor movie makers?

If you indeed want the movie to be banned, go through the proper channels!

So is salman Khan still an anti national for asking ...ki Pak artists aate hain because they are being issued visas by the Govt? itna sab ho gaya...Govt fir bhi kehti hai...ki aa jao...kaam karo India mein...we are ready to give visas to you..so I am waiting now for MNS and SS to raise their jhandas and their dandas against the govt now...or will they continue their tirade against the softer targets like actors and BW??

I don't think they are welcoming Paki artists and trying to give them visa... it says it won't deny them but they don't "have" to give visa to them...

haan baat toh ek he hai...they are publicly saying that they won't deny visa to any Pak national if they fulfil the conditions...
