Oh glad to be of help.😆😆. I myself was trying to summon up all reasons why the wedding wouldn't happen. And frankly this whole concept of getting married to " save the girl's honour " is such a 70's filmy concept that doesn't sit well with Gul's world where its all about celebrating your exe's and 'past,present and future' getting together to have a good time.😆 or is such stuff only for the boys. And what about women's empowerment that Gul is so fond of bringing up in her replies?

Nahi di.. The image tarnished is a big thing bcoz its india. Practically, if it is announced publicly that a guy spent a night with a girl, she is off the arranged marriage market. If such a fact is kepy private and the girl confesses it to her intended then its okay.

This concept was used in Sanjeevani. Here the lead was married to the villain who framed him of murder and the heroine says in court that he spent night with her. The hero heroine get married and the villain is imprisoned. Here they were in love so it was no biggie

In dill Mill gayye, which was a sequel of Snjeevani with Gul on the writing team, Sid spends the night with Riddhima in some jungle and the next thing, sid riddhima marriage.

The reason for the fears is this when the whole reputation tarnished thing is coming up.

There's not a single point of disagreement with you there Aashti on what you wrote on the 'image' of women, marriage and the reality of Indian society. Moreover, to bring up a related issue, we even have had outrageous judgments from various High courts after High courts in India forcing victims to marry their rapists.A perverted logic where the perpetrator of a heinous crime is converted into the saviour of the woman. The man's sentence is diluted or there is outright waiver of punishment. That's the real world.

But if you notice carefully i used the word Gul's world ( IB world to be precise). Can't she come up with something better for her women than recycling the same track that has been used umpteen number of times. Anika deserves better and so do we. For once I hope Gul does something different other than just going on and on about women's empowerment in her replies.
