Sonu Nigam was the one who got this tag of being versatile in 90's only because of singing in many different genre like satrange re , what is mobile number , sandesi ate, yeh dil dewala , mujey raat din bas mujey chati ho , akhiyoon se goli mare , kaha raja bhooj kahan gangu teli , abhi saans lene ki fursat nahi hai, mere neend jane lagi hai , dewana tera , bijuriya etc etc he was famous to sing qawali, ghazal , sad, happy, emotional,pop,rock , classical, fast dance numbers like bijuriya to hi pitch songs , naats , bhajan , etc etc :) he had this quality to change his voice from songs to songs ...

can u explain how arijit is more versatile , he sings every song in same depressed mood

Not only can he sing ghazal type songs like "fir le aaya dil" but also party/fun songs like "suraj dooba hai yaaron". Romantic songs like "soch na sake" to songs like Kabira or dilliwali girlfriend.

few people even complain that he has no identity of his own because he copies atif, kunal etc. but I think it also proves that he can sing in so many styles...

Anyways, I don't think he sings every song in the same depressed mood... it's okay if you disagree.

Sonu is not only more versatile, but he's been extremely lucky as well. Shan and him were singing in an era where music was golden. Even if 5 years later, you still remember every single beat of a 'Kal Ho Na Ho' or a 'Suno Na'. I can't name one song of Arijit that I can recall in the same way, say 10 years from now. It'll take a lot more effort.
