CHAPTER 35 :- FACING THE REALITY!
SANYUKTA'S POV :-
"Take this off my eyes Devil! I can't see anything!" I wriggled in the back seat of Devil's SUV.
"Ssshhh! You're going to damage my eardrums forever if you keep shouting like this!" Arnav said, holding me firm with one hand around my shoulder. "Driver, take the car slow!" He ordered the driver.
"Unless you're telling me what's going on, I am not being quiet!" I hissed at Devil, turning towards the direction his sound came from.
"Fine! I am going to feast on you! Happy now??"
I heard him laugh, his other hand coming in contact right with the vein of her throat.
Oh cut the crap Devil! I huffed inwardly!
"You wish!" I let out a sarcastic scoff. "You are not going to do it with your driver here at least!"
I knew Devil would starve himself to death before feeding on me or even sinking his canines into my flesh.
"Oh you don't know! The pulsing of that vein... and the smell of that coppery liquid can make me do anything!" He whispered in my ear, his tone mocking serious.
Oh yeah? He was going to play this again? How many times have I told him I ain't afraid of his stupid threats?
"Shut up you freak!" I hit him on his chest hard with the hands that were tied in front of me.
"Ouch! I could've roped you well! My bad for bringing this blow on myself!" Devil said dramatically making me fall into fits of laughter, him following my guffaw.
I felt the car pull up. I didn't know why Devil has to tie me up like this. God this man can be unpredictable sometimes, I huffed!
"We're here! Come on!" He said, controlling his laughter and opening the door and moving out, helping me as well.
As we moved on, I felt the surroundings beginning to become quiet. Only the sound of our breathing could be heard. With each passing second, I was getting restless. What was this about?
"Untie me now if we're where we were supposed to be?" I whispered, cautious of the quiet around me.
"Now we announce the beautiful Angel free!" Arnav declared, untying my hands and removing the blindfold. His voice echoed.
As my eyes opened, I couldn't fathom whether they were still tied or not because it was so dark! So bloody dark! I knew Devil could see in the dark but I couldn't. Where did he being me and why?
"What the hell? It's so dark in here!" I whispered turning to the direction from where Devil's voice came from, while untying me.
"You're in a vampire's house darling! We live in the dark!" He whispered from the other side, so slow that I gasped and jumped in terror.
He chuckled, making me furious. How could he scare me like that?
"Devil, shut the fu-"
"SURPRISE!" A loud squeal interrupted me mid-curse as the lights went on.
Raizada mansion! I gasped! God we were in the huge Raizada mansion! I looked around, comprehending my surroundings as rose petals started falling on me. The entire house was decorated in subtle peacock blue, pink and white colours just how I liked! The couches were moved to the side and in the center of the hall stood my best people - the people I can't believe I can love so much in just a short span of two months - Raizada family and my never failing friends along! Oh so this is where they had been for shopping - the rogue friends of mine! I felt so special! My lips curved from ear to ear, in the biggest and brightest smile ever!
"Happy birthday Angel!" Arnav turned me to engulf me in a bone crushing hug. "Y'know! I am the luckiest guy of the universe to have you as my best friend!" He mumbled against my shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around him gratefully. No one can replace his place in my life! He was my bestest friend for a literal forever.
"I am the luckiest girl to have you, too!" I smiled, crushing him further.

I ran to him! He was just in time to catch hold of me in a hug, boasting me up the ground and rotating me. A squeal left my mouth in joy.
"Happy birthday choti!" He pulled my cheek after we broke the hug.
"Thank you so much bhai!" I smiled at him.
Now everyone wished me one by one.
"Happy birthday Sanyu di!" Aliena jumped on me, hugging me tight.
"Thank you!"
I smiled after we broke the hug. She was garbed in this stunning black royal gown with her brown hair left open in waves. I bet she might have looked the same 2000 years earlier - so breath takingly beautiful!
"You look so beautiful and so ridiculously young!"
She giggled hearing my sweet yet sarcastic compliment.
"Happy birthday Sanyu!" Khushi hugged me next. Jaan, Kaustuki and Lavanya followed.
"I see! So this is your shopping mall, huh?" I smirked, arching a brow at them and everyone laughed.
"Happy birthday!" Parth and Yoyo
hugged me next and I thanked them.
"Happy birthday beta!" Arjun dad n Ananya mom hugged me.
"Thank you mom, dad!" I smiled at them. They were like the parents I never had and I call them mom dad.
"Happy 19th birthday Love!" Aryan opened his arms out to me, smiling. "Now you can claim a marriage certificate rightfully!"
"Yeah whatever!" I rolled my eyes and giggled, falling into his outstretched arms, hugging him with a smile.
As the greetings ended, I looked for the one I was anxious to be wished by... or I could say, hugged by! Everyone were talking to each other, smiling and laughing while I looked around for him. Where was he?
I inhaled in a gasp as I looked at him at the entrance now. A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as I espied him. Wearing a gray tuxedo that complimented his perfect body and with a sweet smile, he looked no less than Adonis! Even though his lips were curved in a smile, his eyes depicted the immense pain I had given him which made my throat choke.
Randhir was moving towards me slowly. My breath hitched as I anticipated his touch. Every feeling I was trying to suppress since morning, since I found myself alone in my bed, since I saw his tear filled eyes when he came to know I was engaged, since I saw that look of disappointment and pain when he excused himself from the canteen, tended to swallow me dead. I was trembling and the entire house pressed in on me.
Every step he took towards me made the air feel heavier around me. I held my breath as he stood right in front. My knees were buckling, trying to give in to gravity but I needed to keep myself together.
"Happy birthday Farzi!" He smiled.
"Thnx!" I managed to say.
I stared at his smile which was so painfully sarcastic that it broke my heart in a thousand pieces. I deserved this, I knew! I deserved each bit of sarcasm he held in his smile, every bit of disappointment he held in his eyes and this immense pain which made my breathing ragged.
But maybe...one touch? Didn't I deserve at least a tiny touch? A handshake? I knew that this one touch can keep me going for the rest of the day, now that I had been craving for it for almost 12 hours. But I also knew that he wouldn't want to touch me even once as he came to know who I was and considering the fact that I almost betrayed him by being already engaged and yet letting him hope.
My eyes were getting blurry with the forbidden liquid. No! I couldn't cry now, definitely not before him. I knew I would be an emotional wreck if I let out the tears now. I kept my gaze steady on him, blinking the tears away, biting my bottom lip hard to stop another round of tears peek in my eyes again. We stared at each other and the more we looked, the more confused I was about that slowly creeping softness in his eyes for me. Touch me Randhir, just once, please! I begged him with my eyes.

"Hey! There you are!" Mom's loud shriek pulled us out of our eyelock. I turned to look at her jumping on a man in the entrance, engulfing him in a hug.

"I'm so glad to see you Ananya!" I heard his voice before I saw him after he broke the hug and smiled at all of us. I gasped in shock.
"Vardhan sir?" Parth wondered aloud, in shock, too.
"Oh sorry!" Mom smiled, biting her tongue. "I guess you all know him! Vardhan is my brother. There was a party at home and I couldn't help inviting him."
Brother? I looked at Arnav who was smiling at Vardhan! When was he going to tell me he already knew Vardhan sir?
"Hello everyone!" Vardhan sir smiled at all of us, coming inside holding mom's hand.
"Vardhaaannn!" Aliena squealed and hugged him.
"Lovely to see u Vardhan!" Shyam bhai hugged him next and Vardhan sir smiled at him saying the same.
"Am glad you got time out of your busy schedule to show up at home!" Arnav folded his hand against his chest.
"Yeah! I am so busy grooming engineers like you!" Vardhan sir smiled.
Arnav smiled back and hugged him.
I was confused. How can mom have a brother? Arnav didn't tell me she did when they got up as vampires. Maybe just a friend of mom who she considers her brother.
The party went on with everyone talking to each other. Everyone here knew Arnav's family already as they had come to the college to meet Arnav and I had introduced them, except Jaan and Aryan. But I had seen them mingling which meant they were already bonded, maybe while doing the arrangements for this party.
I turned back to focus on Randhir again, hoping we could just touch the tip of our pinky fingers at least. Just a tiny touch that my whole body ached for. But my heart sank as I realized I was alone, Randhir was long gone. I scanned the room for him and spotted him tickling Aliena as she giggled. They hugged each other, smiling. They were very bonded to each other since they first met.
My stomach twisted in knots and my heart sank further, all my hopes vanished. Tears formed in my eyes and I bit my lip to stop myself. He didn't want to touch me at all. Why would he? Two tiny tears fell on my cheeks and brushed them off immediately.
"Excuse me ladies and gentlemen!" Devil's voice grabbed my attention. All of us looked at him. He was standing beside the music system in a corner with a microphone in one hand and a huge box in other.
"I request the birthday girl to go to her room and give this beautiful dress a chance to wrap around her! Until then, we will be arranging your birthday cake!" He smiled, forwarding his hand to me.
Everyone cheered as I walked up to him faking a smile as bright as I could.
"You will look beautiful!" Devil whispered in my ear as he handed me the box and pecked my cheek, smiling.
The moment I looked in his eyes I knew he understood every emotion of mine and was trying to reassure me with his eyes but it didn't matter. I needed to let my emotions out before I burst out in front of everybody.
I smiled at him saying I'd be okay though my tears threatened to spill. I turned on my heels and ran upstairs in my room.
I had my own room here in Raizada mansion, beside mom and dad's room. Last time I had come here, they had insisted me to stay over and they told me I was their daughter and that room was exclusively mine from then.
Getting inside, I banged the door shut, leaning against it. I dropped the box down, my knees giving up as I sank to the ground sobbing bitterly. This was it! I had tried to keep myself busy with everything I could the entire day, running from the reality that I can't stay away from Randhir. I thought I could do this! But one moment of reality had me slapped right across my face and I was broken!
