Chapter 20

Jodha and Suraj both went to their rooms...when they entered the room they were shocked to see flowers all over the place...Suraj went to one of the flower bouquet and took out a note "get well soon" he read out loud..."who could this be? this is really weird isn't it Jodha..." Jodha smiled as she looked at everything around her...forgetting Suraj...she went to one of the bouquet..and touched it...they were all roses...her favorite flower...she knew who this belonged too...she didnt' need to see the note to know..."if you want to play hide and seek Jalal..then so be it..but I will find you..that's my promise..." she came out of her thoughts when Suraj called her name again...

Suraj: Jodha I am talking to you...

Jodha: huh what?

Suraj: I said this is weird...who could send these flowers...

Jodha: I know who sent it...

Suraj: who?

Jodha: Jalal..

Suraj (shakes his head): Jodha...not again...the whole day you have been chanting Jalal Jalal Jalal...I told you if Jalal was here he would've showed his face...and he didn't do any of that...now try to understand he is not here...

Jodha (has tears falling out of her eyes hearing Suraj speak like that..she backs up a little in disbelief) NO you are wrong..why don't you believe me? I thought we were friends?

Suraj: Jodha i am your friend..but this is all a coincidence...

Jodha (holds his hands and drags him to the flower bouquet): these are my favorite flowers...Jalal knew that..(she takes out a card) he knew that I am not well...he is the one that sent the doctor and took care of the bills..I know its him

Suraj: you know what..let's go..we are going to see the doctor right now (he holds her hand and drags her out of the hotel...while Jodha followed him with tears in her eyes...Jalal blood boiled seeing tears in her eyes..."how dare he!!" Jalal decided to follow them...Suraj brings her to the doctor clinic..."what are they doing here? Jalal wondered..Jalal stood outside the door making sure that he is not seen...) Doctor who hired you to see Jodha? (doctor looked both of them confused)

Doc: Excuse me?

Suraj: the other day when she was sick...why didn't you charge us any money?

Doc: because I was already paid...

Suraj: by whom? (Jodha waited anxiously for his reply)

Doc: by the hotel..(she was disheartened by his response)

Suraj: I meant to ask was there any particular person that paid you?

Doc: A guy..I don't know his name...all I know is that he works at the hotel..(Jodha got happy..."maybe that is how he knew I was sick...so he is here...Jalal why are you away from me? Please come to me..." she cries and turns toward the door...as she got closer to the door...she smelled something familiar..she walked out the door and found no one...when she was about to go inside she saw a retreating figure...she knew who it was.."Jalal!!!" she yells...and runs toward the person...yelling Jalal...she manages to catch up to him and turns him around but was shocked to find someone else in his place...she walks away with tears...Suraj catches up to her...

Suraj: Jodha what happened? why were you running

Jodha: Jalal...I know i saw him...

Suraj (sighs): Jodha...listen..I think it is better if we leave...Detective Sameer will call us if he finds anything...it will be better

Jodha (pushes him): If you are not going to believe me or help me then fine...you can go by yourself...I will stay here and find him all on my own...I don't need your help

Suraj (tries to come closer to her): Listen Jodha...we haven't found any evidence, as you stated, of him being here...

Jodha; I don't need any proof to know either...I always listened to my heart and I will continue to do so...either you help me or you don't its your choice..but I won't leave from here without him

Suraj: Fine..I will help you..if you say that he is here then I will trust you...

Jodha: Thanks (she smiles) we should ask the hotel manager since the doctor said that it was one of the staff that hired him...and I bet that it was Jalal...

Suraj: ok let's go back and ask...

Both went back to the hotel...Jodha's heart was beating really fast..."what do I say or do when I see him...I am so happy..Kanha thank you..I found my Jalal because of you...I can't wait anymore...please let me meet him as soon as possible...thank you Kanha..." they went to the reception area...

Suraj: Excuse me miss...I wanted to know if a guy named Jalal worked here?

Receptionist: Am sorry sir but we cannot reveal any information about our employees

Suraj: please it is really important we need to know

Receptionist: I am sorry I cannot do that..if you want you can speak with our manager when he returns from his vacation

Suraj: when will that be?

Receptionist: He will be here next week...

Jodha: Please I beg you...it is really important for us to meet him...

Recpetionist: I understand but I really can't help you..it is against our policy

Jodha: ok if you can't disclose that information at least you can tell me if you seen this person around (she shows him a photo of their wedding)

Receptionist: yes ma'am he was here earlier this morning...I don't know anything else about him...

Jodha: Are you sure? Please he is my husband whom I have been trying to find since two years...you are my only hope now...please help me...please (she cries..receptionist feel bad...)

Receptionist: alright...he used to work here for two years but not anymore..as far as I heard about him, he seemed to be very distant from everyone...he never talked or smiled...when I worked with him..it seemed like he is a dead body...he had no life in his eyes...I tried many times talking to him to see if he would open up but it was like talking to a wall...nothing went through him...he would just be working like a robot all day long...(Jodha cried hearing all this..."this can't be my Jalal...no it can't be..my Jalal used to fight for everything and stand up..." Suraj puts a hand on her shoulder to reassure her...)

Suraj: Do you know where he lives?

Receptionist: Unfortunately, no one does...after his work he just disappears...(Jodha puts her head down crying silently...) but (both look at her) once I did see him go toward the woods which is right behind the hotel...I don't know anything more...I told you guys everything...(Jodha nodes..but as she was about to walk away) look I don't know what happened but all I know is that he has a lot of grief and pain inside him...I hope you are able to find him...

Suraj: Thank you...(both left the reception area...Jodha hugged Suraj and cried...)

Jodha: I want Jalal...I have to find him right now...

Suraj (strokes her back to calm her down) don't worry we will...

Jodha: I want to search the woods right now...we can find something...

Suraj: we will later...

Jodha (looks at Suraj): NO! I will go by myself..if I have to but I will find him today

She starts to walk out of the hotel toward the woods...Suraj runs behind her...Jodha walks toward the woods...and started looking around frantically. She didn't knew what she was looking for but she knew that she can't go back empty handed, at least not without Jalal...Suraj lost Jodha in the woods...he was searching for her everywhere...while Jodha searched for unknown things..it was getting dark and she was getting weak with tears and running around with no food in the body...eventually Jodha's legs started to give away...her eyes became blurry...but she fought with herself..."No I have to keep going...I will find him..." She kept walking...then she saw a small cottage in front of her...she ran as fast as she could...she looked at the door in front of her...her hands were shaking but she knew that Jalal was here...she could feel his presence...she opened the door...she was sad when she didn't found anyone in...she looked around...it was very old cottage with nothing inside except for a chair at the corner...it seemed like there was no soul present...she touched each thing very delicately...everything seemed so precious to her because she knew Jalal touched these things...Jodha got scared when she heard some noises from outside of the cottage...she quickly left the cottage but hid behind some trees..she smiled in happiness when she saw Jalal but was saddened to see his state...he seemed like a dead body..."the girl was right...Jalal what have you done to yourself..." She cries...she saw him going inside...carefully she came out from behind the tree and peeked inside the cottage...she saw Jalal sitting on the chair lost looking out the window...she couldn't help herself...she went to the door and opened it...but Jalal didn't turn around...he was still looking out the window...Jodha slowly walked near him...each footsteps seemed so heavy...and her heart seemed so free and relaxed after seeing him..she came in front of him...she looked into his eyes which failed to make any contacts with her...it was as if she was not in front of him at all...he kept staring ahead...she dropped to her knees before him...and puts her head on his lap crying...Jalal didn't move his hands nor his body...she looks at him..and slowly touches his face...the minute her hands touches his face he closes his eyes..feeling the warmth...a lone tear drops from his face...

Jodha: Jalal...please look at me...(she pleaded with him but he didn't open his eyes) Jalal I am here...I missed you so much..I have come here to take you with me...please look at me...I am dying for your touch and for your one look..please...I will die without you...I don't have much energy left in me anymore...please...(Jalal opens his eyes)

Jalal: You shouldn't be here...(he said with his eyes closed..unwilling to look at her...)

Jodha (looked at him in disbelief...): I have come here only for you...

Jalal: I dont' deserve you...go back to Suraj...

Jodha (gets up): In that case I don't deserve to live either...I am going...(she runs out of the cottage...she bumps into Suraj inside the jungle..he looks at her..)

Suraj: Jodha what happened?

Jodha (points in the direction of the cabin) Jalal...(she cries...Suraj takes her to the cabin where Jodha had instructed him to go to...but was shocked to find no one there...Jodha looks around the cabin..she runs out to see if she spots Jalal...and comes back in) he was here..he sat right here in this chair...and put my head on his lap and touched his face...I was talking to him..i told him to come back with me..but he told me that he doesn't deserve me and I should go back to you...(she looks around) where is he? Jalal!!!! (she yells..she runs outside yelling and screaming his name in vain...Suraj comes out and slaps her...he shakes her roughly)

Suraj: what is wrong with you...there is no one here...

Jodha: I saw him Suraj...I touched him..I cried on his lap...he talked to me...why don't you believe me!!!!!!!

Suraj: BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHO ARE YOU ANYMORE...IT IS LIKE YOU HAVE GONE CRAZY THINKING ABOUT JALAL EVERY SINGLE FREAKING MINUTE...AND NOW YOU ARE SEEING HIM TOO...YOU HAVE GONE CRAZY!!! (he shakes her...) do you hear me...

Jodha (removes his hands from her shoulders): If you think I am crazy then fine..maybe I am..but I know what I felt and I know what I saw and there is NOTHING you can say or do to change that fact

Suraj: if what you are saying is right..then where is he? where has he gone?

Jodha: I don't know but I will DEFIANTLY find him..no matter what...and no one will stop me anymore...(she walks away from Suraj but as she was walking away she faints on the ground...Suraj runs up to her and carries her back to the hotel...)

Jalal comes out from his hiding..crying listening to Jodha..."you are looking for me Jodha...you don't know how happy you made me but you don't deserve me Jodha...I will not be able to give you any happiness...I have nothing...it is better if I stay away from you...you will forget me sooner or later even though I can't say the same thing for myself...I will never forget you Jodha...but it would be better for the both of us if you forget me..."
