Ok everyone,

Here is a little political debate...

As you all may know, the name of Mumbai's International airport is Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport...and there is a statue of Shivaji at the enterance of the intl' airport.

So, in the nation's capital, New Delhi, why not rename the airport Prithviraj Chauhan International Airport instead of Indira Gandhi International Airport....

Wouldn't it be appropriate to name delhi's airport after PRC, the nation's hero and the last soverign Hindu ruler of India?

Yes, or no, should they rename the airport and take away indira's name and put in PRC's name into the new airport title?

Do reply....😊

Ok I can add my views here. Thanks Mansi 😃

No, I disagree, Indira Gandhi International airport should not be renamed to PRC international airport. Mumbai's airport is named so becoz, Shivaji is the greatest hero in Maharashtra and no one is there after him (equal to him). But if u see PRC is not the only hero of India or Delhi. There are many. Then why not Sardar Patel, why not Ashoka? Indira Gandhi was the first Lady Prime Minister of India and I should say very recent heroine in Politics. She should get that respect and she got.

what about jansi ki rani laxmibai? she was much braver than any modern indian leader, including indira gandhi...doesnt she deserve this honor too?

Off course Rani Lakshmi bai was braver than modern leaders. But then again same thing, if you count women of that era then there are others also, right? say Maharani Padmini.

But in modern wolrd there is no one in competition for India. And more of all she ruled whole India, where as others fought for their particular kingdom (thats not a small thing though) and their name is everywhere in their empire. Like Rani Lakshmi bai's statue and road, monument in Jhansi, Satara - near Pune (Her mayaka). But Indira today belongs to whole India, right? and not particular region. So her name we can read in the capital city of India.

Thats right...agree with Ppiyu here. Dont forget PRC made mistakes and finally invaders took over India. Same happened to Bahadur Shah Zafar...he was the last Mughal ruler of Delhi/India. He is revered as a Sufi saint today but then he was a weak king(I know PRC wasnt a weak king). My vote goes for Indira Gandhi.

i have always felt indira gandhi to be the best leader for india after sardar patel.
she joined politics when india was filled with disturbances.. each part of india wanted to be a separate country with one or other reason.
she entered politics actively after th death of her father.. that time she was the information minister under shastry's govt.. that time there was a major problem in south india with hindi being made as the national language. it was indira who solved the problem otherwise..even our country wld have been split like what happed in pakistan in 1971(the national language was one of the problem there too)
next the naga terrorists.. she just launched a surprised attack on them.. n almost wiped them from eastern india. they did not rise again until after her death.
the most important- the kalistan problem. though we indians had to give up our fundamental rights when she declared emergency.. n she had to make the army enter the golden temple... finally india is still one.. we did not loose punjab n many other parts of north india.
she had the guts to even oppose united states and china when she decided to support mukti bahini and help bangladeshis get their freedom.
she has done so much for india.. so i feel it is a perfect tribute for her by giving the international airport at delhi her name
