Im new to this forum, but certainly not new to IF 😛
I am a Bengali too and have been watching this show from the very 1st episode.
There are lots of discussions going on now abt the sari vs Lehenga issue. So let me clarify some things here.
Sona wore the Bengali style sari and not the 15 lakh wala Lehenga sent by Ishwari though she had lectured Neha abt wearing the one her sasural had sent instead of the designer one she wanted to wear.
Now first of all, Devakshi wedding is taking place according to Bengali rituals, right?
In Bengali tradition, bride wears the sari and jewelry given by her parents for the wedding.
Whatever sari or dress the sasural sends on wedding day morning as part of the "Totto" (shagun) is worn at the Reception given by sasural.
That is the custom
So the dress or sari sent by sasuma for reception is packed and sent back with the bride and she wears it on the day of bou-bhaat or Phoohojja (suhag raat) or reception, whichever is the most important function of the sasural.
So probably the explanation in the show will the same, that according to Bengali tradition she wore the sari given by her parents and she will wear the lehenga at her sasural's reception.
PS: Would like to add that they missed out some interesting rituals at the Boron ceremony (welcoming groom) ...bride's mother and aunts do some leg pulling of groom, etc. But the actual Boron (aarti utarna) was shown correctly.
Bride is carried out seated on a pidey(flat stool), carried by her brothers for the shubh drishti (exchanging glances), bride's face is covered by paan so groom cannot see her till the actual shubh drishti ceremony.
Maybe they will show all this in tomorrow's episode.
