What is the glorious chapter of your life which you'll cherish forever?

I am very grateful to God for letting me in this industry where I am working right now. I never wanted to be an actor when I started off. There was no formal training as an actor. I am a graduate in MBA in Marketing and I was working for corporate. I am very grateful to God who got me in this industry where people know about me and they want to know about me. I am really thankful to them.

Being constantly in the limelight as an actor, how do you act in response to the paparazzi?

I am quite a private person and I don't socialize much. I have been like that since my childhood. I have seen that and for me it works. For me, being exclusive and being in the backdrop if I am not working, works, because when something comes in the news about me people really want to know more about it. I just don't like being very open about my private life.

The actors strike gold with the success of the shows but some fail to be a part of any and yet are achievers. Why success is defined differently for the celebrated and the achievers?

To answer this question, I would like to give a very small example. In India Cricket is a religion. There is a brilliant player in the team and the team, God forbid; loses the match but if that individual player has performed well, he comes to the public notice. People do notice that he is a wonderful technically sound player. I feel as an actor as well one need to know the craft irrespective of the result of the show. Television is the fickle word right now. It's based on TRP system which I personally feel is not full proof. I feel that there is always a doubt of what is correct or not. I think as an actor, the most important thing is to know your craft. If one is satisfied after doing a scene, only then the audience or viewers will be satisfied. That's the mantra which I follow. I don't know about others if they are famous or not because of their famous shows. The mantra in my life is to know your craft and try something new every day, so that you grow in that profession every day. Because of my educational background, I think like that, but it helps me, I am happy with it.

As you have been quite open about your relationship status to the world, how much has your relationship grown and when is the wedding bell ringing?

Ever since I've entered into this industry, I have been lucky to work with some very good looking people around me. It's obvious that when one does a romantic show one is being asked questions if he / she is romantically linked in their personal life as well. I wasn't, so I never told anybody. They always thought that I am hiding, but I always told them that if there is somebody in my life, then I'll be open about it, but to a limit. When I found that wonderful person in my life, I opened about my relationship and I've told people that I am with somebody right now. I am a private person and I know how much I can share with the world. Yes, my relationship with Akanksha Chamola is going strong and definitely wedding will be on the charts. I see her as my long term partner in my life too.

I see her as my long term partner in my life too.

How much commitment did you infuse to bring this character into perfection?

I always feel as an actor whichever role one plays it takes something from realism. As you've asked about me playing Dr Akshay (character name), I have doctors in my house, my brother-in-law is a surgeon, so I've seen doctors and wanted to be a doctor when I was in school. I took Biology when I was in 11th and 12th class. It was a very pleasant thing for me to play a doctor because I was very happy to relate. That's the maximum what I've got in this character from my personal life. Dr Akshay (character name) of Tere Bin is stuck between his past and present. There are a lot of guys in today's world who find that dilemma whether to go back or move forward in life. It's a wonderful matured love story which we are showing and I am happy that on the television very few male actors get to do substantial stuff. I've been lucky to do it and I am very thankful.

Has there been any moment wherein you too had stuck between your past and the present?

It's always there. It's not only about relationships; it's about a lot of things in life. I think what Akshay is going through on the show is something I haven't gone through in life and I never want to go through that in life. There was a time when I had entered this industry I had quit my job, which was a fabulous job. I always thought whether I have taken the right decision of leaving my studies or a corporate job. The dilemma is always there, but the fun of life is to take the risk and see how it unfolds. That's what may be the protagonist of the show Akshay (character name) is trying to do and that's what my mantra is - just go with your conviction and see what happens.
