This is my first official written, topic based post in this forum, which should indicate how bloody pissed off I am--but I have to post or go out and kick a puppy or do something equally evil, so here goes...
The first time I ever saw this actress Vrushika was on this show. I had no clue who she was. I actually tuned in because it is Gul's show, not because I was a fan of any one of the actors--I didn't like Nakul all that much from that Pyaar Ke Sath Dosti Bhi Muft show or whatever, because I think he's garden variety cute, and I'm completely old fashioned in the leading men I like--tall dark and Barun, thank you very much.
Having said that--Shivika zindabaad, okay?
However, back to this post. The first time I saw Om, I was absolutely not blown away. Too soft, I thought. Too introspective, too calm and sweet. I don't like men who we call "Makhon Da" in Bengali--butter brothers, for lack of a better translation--it means soft, or innocent brotherly men, which again, is not for me. And then, scene after scene, that damn Makhon Da stole the damn show. He was a raging fire underneath the soft words, he was the true simmering emotional payoff and the one you watched on screen because his subtle acting and nuanced reactions were so .. insanely ... hot.
And then, the only girl to match my new found obsession arrived. And it was a sign of relief, from me. She was hot, funny, bold, adorable, and sly and cunning and free and everything else. I don't know why so many people lost their heads over Bela-Mala, because I actually liked seeing her act through a bad script. She did her job, and I understood the power of this actress in her half baked written scenes where she was still so good.Imagine a lesser actress being asked to do Bela-Mala. Go ahead, and see how fast you'd change the channel with a less powerhouse of an actress.
When they (Gul) finally admitted this was a dumb case of bad writing and were returning to the drawing board, I admit --I was relieved.
But then we have had weeks of Gul placing one of her most powerful new discoveries on ice--and following that, for weeks we saw Kunal doing nothing more than what he has said himself--"macchar maar raha hu.." Once again, don't get me wrong. I like Anika. I think the actress playing her is doing a good job of a strong character study-- but come on, no matter how much of a Shivika shipper you are, you cannot deny that she has the better script, and the attention of the producer in terms of character growth, to fall back on for her performance. This Vrushika, and the character she played did not --and still she shone. And now we have their best actress in terms of screen presence and sheer charm being removed from the show through no possible realistic reason.
I agree with the TM. The actress in question is too good for this crap (not the show--the situation). But I do want to ask--what the hell is the creative choice being made here? Bhai, where did Gul and her gang of thin skinned writers do a creative decision in the first place? Did we see anything creative when they penned the role for this woman, that all of a sudden its stifling their creative choices to keep an excellent actress available for their suddenly awakened creative ideas?
I am a writer. Not as good as the genius who came up with Bela-Mala (is anyone?) but hey, I want to help these harried creatives who are so traumatized by some poor actress's fans saying some tough things online, they have had to reject the fictional character the actress played to deal with the trauma. Still, I have an open request to make of Gul. I will provide a list of exactly ten plausible scenarios, complete with dialogue and plot points through which they can creatively bring Vrushika back, use her talent and give Kunal something to do besides dengue duty.
Or is this attacking the creatives' creative creativity too much ?
