Few years ago I went to a barbershop to get a haircut. There was an grand father sitting beside me and we were both waiting for our turns. He mentioned how he had married his wife and who are together since 70 years. He used to be doing some work or was a guest at the wedding. Something happened and the marriage was off. Her father was crying and there was some drama so eventually he got up and asked for her hand. They got married right there and then. He wasnt even dressed up or anything and he came back with the bride sitting on some rickshaw. He said he was married before the Indo Pak partition, thats quite a long way. He told me things under the british rule, the coal/steam engines, how the dentists and doctors used to operate, and how you can buy things in some annas. His life hasn't all been about good moments, he had to see his children die before them, and he now has like great great grandchildren. That guy was a walking history book. His eyes glistened up when he began talking as it seemed he hasnt talked to someone for long time so he kept rambling and i ended up spending few hours with him. One of the best moments of my life. Some old people are really amazing and have a wealth of knowledge. You can learn so much with them.
