I honestly wonder how much KJo was involved with BBD vs Excel. The movie was primarily Excel's...KJo only came on board with Sid. Exvel movies are anyways expensive. Riteish/Farhan were also on BBD sets. I don't think KJo ever went. Still it's his failure as a producer, of course.
Yeah, BBD was definitely a very Excel-ish product... it felt like an Excel movie through-and-through. The only part that felt Dharma-ish about BBD were the songs, namely Nachde ne saare and Kala Chashma (at least in terms of production value).
I'm not sure how involved KJo was (it didn't really seem like he was super involved), and yeah it seems that KJo just came as a package deal with Sid. The whole Quint article talked about Excel and its 'practices' with making Junglee Films take on Bangistan along with DDD, so I wouldn't be surprised if Excel just wanted KJo/Dharma to fund money for BBD, with no creative input by Dharma.
