Fantastic update. Maaneet's married life is lovely and full of romance. In the present Maan is very apprehensive about Geet's impending surgery. He is determined to bring her back from the darkness she is in. Hope her surgery be successful and she gets to see the light. Loved it. Waiting for next.

Absolutely Awesome...

It's so difficult to understand whose love is more strong... Maan's or Geet's ?

Both are anchoring each other in the times of need...

It was so overwhelming to see Geet being the pillar when Maan was drowning in his guilt...

n Now... when Geet was feeling insured & losing hope... it was Maan who showed the courage... reminded the undying love they have for each other...

Just love them more with each update...

in past maaneet was so happy ...they were ready to shift abroad to fulfill his father's dream but everything changed after coming here :(

Chapter - 22

"I Want To See You"
-Rumi

Eight months in this new part of the world had opened her mind wide like the sky. She worked in the day, took lazy long walk with Maan after dinner, spent her nights talking to him about everything under the sun and at times, much to his annoyance, she would ward him off and bury herself in her latest book. She had been a bit ecstatic and a whole lot happier this particular month. They'd be celebrating their first marriage anniversary in a few days. Time had flown so quickly. She recalled them sitting under the bakula tree and talking of worlds while she put on her earrings. Life with this man had been a dream for her. he always called himself lucky that he found her but she knew they completed each other. She knew she was lucky in this aspect too.

"Ready?" he walked towards her, pulling on his dinner suit.

"Almost." She quickly dabbed the gloss on her lips and rushed out to wear her shoes. It was Maan's College Reunion party and he was so excited for it. She could see that boyish Maan peeking out of his personality today and very well enjoyed the sight. She had put a little bit extra effort to look good today. She'd be meeting his friends for the first time. She had to look her best. She didn't tell this to Maan because he'd say she needn't do all such stuffs to look good and that she was beautiful the way she was.

But of course men enjoyed flaunting their pretty wives but then quite not too. She wondered what was wrong with the male specie altogether! They'd want everyone to feel jealous of their and "only their" beautiful, prized possessions but then they'd hate, in fact, go on a cold blooded murdering spree when someone stared at their "prized possessions" a second longer than required. Maan was no exception either; she had come to learn of this over time.

"What are you smiling at?" he asked, putting on the music of their car. He drove and she sat, looking at nothing in particular and smiling. The winter was very much there. The snow was still piled up on the sides. The heater kept them warm.

"Nothing." She pressed her lips to hold that smile from escaping. She turned to look at him and sighed. She still had that butterfly feeling whenever he dressed so. She knew now that he only dressed up to kill. She just felt like leaning over and pressing a kiss on his cheeks. And that she did. She quickly leaned towards him and pecked him on his cheek, surprising him.

"Geet, we are on the road!" he stated with utmost seriousness.

"so??"

"So, why'd you do that for?" he tried hard to keep his gaze focussed on the road.

"Do I need a reason?" she twisted her lips.

"Unless you want me to pull over and make hot love to you in the car right in the middle of nowhere!" he stated as a matter-of-fact.

Warmth spread on her face and she felt hot.

"you... you have to attend an event, keep that in mind mister!" she fumbled and got back to him but he knew she was flushed.

"you have to attend it with me too, keep that in mind madam!" he teased, in the same tone as hers.

Oh that smirk! that devilish sexy smirk! So typical of the Maan Singh Khurana! And his double meaning words! she gulped down her saliva to wet that dry throat that he had rendered her with.

"Keep some chastity alive Mr. Khurana." She spoke confidently yet blushing furiously. his words initiated some amazing reactions in the pit of her stomach.

"I'm sorry Love, but I am a morally corrupt man right now; all thanks to this hot and sexy woman sitting right beside me and who is only mine!"

She, right at that moment wanted to fling herself on him and make him do all sorts of things that he was hinting at but she held back! For the love of god, they had a party to attend! She looked away and tried to enjoy the music and the night sky through the window.

He held her protectively round her waist and walked in with arrogance! Prized Possession that she was! She giggled in his arms and greeted people who greeted them. the night was full of fun and Geet enjoyed the guys teasing each other and spilling out dirty dorm secrets to the wives! Quite a happening dorm life! The function started and people took the mic to introduce their families. Geet watched, some had girlfriends and some had wives. Some had cute little babies too and it fascinated her how they introduced their family in fun ways more than one. When it was their turn, he held her hand and took her to the spotlight.

"...and this is my wife, my love, my jasmine...Geet. I had been in love with her since childhood and never in his life, had a man been this blessed to hold his heaven in his arms." He announced proudly.

His friends hooted and whistled and clapped and teased and what not but she remained dazed! Not that he had never professed his love for her before; in fact he did it in the most elaborate ways possible but the pride with which he held her today in front of everyone meant so much to her that she almost wept in happiness.

When they reached home, around 2am, she still remained quiet and dazed and spaced out; so much that he had to hold her hand and drag her inside. She walked to their room and stood right in front of the mirror and looked at herself rather objectively. Maan was still in the hall, doing something. she took off her jewelleries and smudged her lipstick and ruffled her hair.

"You, Geet Khurana," she spoke to her reflection, pointing an index finger towards it, "are one lusty woman!"

Saying so, she unhooked her dark red gown and let it fall on the floor, leaving her only in her boring black undergarments. The door opened with a creak and she heard him gasp at the sight she presented in front of him. he stood rooted and she turned to him with a look that gave away her thoughts. He gulped hard and left the door that shut close in a slow motion.

"My god Geet...do you plan to kill me?" he panted and strode towards his wife in her otherwise "boring" undergarments. Before he could even touch her, she held the collars of his white shirt and pulled him to her with a force that unsteadied him.

"Show me how morally corrupt you are Khurana!" she whispered on his lips.

He left the coat that he held in his hands and carried her to the bed, "Damn! I am
at your mercy the moment you take lead, Love. And here I am, at your service."

Pushing her down, he fell on her and kissed her hard, ready to please her as she desired.

"Maan, must you go?" she whined, pulling down the spread from her face and watched her husband get ready to leave for a trip. He put on his watch and leaned over her and gave her his favourite morning kiss. She hummed in his mouth and kissed him back lazily.

"yes Geet... I have to." He broke apart and sighed.

"But...but its our first anniversary day after tomorrow. I wanted us to be together."

"I am so sorry jasmine... but this deal has got me into a fix. Don't be sad. We will celebrate our first anniversary a few days later." he encouraged her with a smile.

She watched him leave with a sad smile and got back inside. She'd be alone for the next 5 days and she'd miss him. He'd be back three days after their anniversary. Till then, she had to keep her mind busy and who else could do that better than a six month pregnant Priya! Priya talked to her about the baby's movments and Dev and how the entire family has turned into five year olds, irritating her with the gifts and toys.

She could hardly talk to him for 5 minutes on their anniversary because of his travel schedule. But then, she was not disappointed because she had a whole lot of plans for the days to come. And the day came quicker than she thought. She had bought gifts for him and baked a cake and made him a card too. She found it silly but she couldn't help. it was evening by the time she was done and drove to pick him up from the airport.

He watched the weather turn bad as he waited in the lounge. There were announcements of an impending snowstorm. He knew Geet would be picking him up and called her immediately to stop her. but she wouldn't pick up the phone.

"Gosh Geet... don't come now." He prayed.

He had called her a few times, left her a voice mail but there was no answer from her. she had kept her phone in the car and had gone to pick some flowers for him and then completely forgot about her phone. he just hoped that she got the news of the storm.

She turned on the heater of the car, feeling the temperature drop. It had started snowing. She turned on the head lights and hoped to reach him before the weather turned bad. There were a few vehicles on the highway that kept her company. And then her vision went hazy. A thick fog surrounded her and she pressed the accelerator to reach him faster.

He watched the storm subside a few hours later and sighed in relief that she wasn't here. He wondered then why she hadn't called. His phone blared making his smile at the name flashing on it.

"Geet.." he answered happily.

But what awaited him was the news of a car, skidding off the highway due to snow and a wounded wife. All energy left his body and his legs froze; refused to move for a few seconds; his mind gone numb and he felt something heavy pull him down to the floor. He resisted. He resisted hard and rushed to the hospital like a mad man.

He listened carefully to what the doctors told about her post operative care but in his heart, all he wanted to do was just go and see her. He knew about Pneumatic Retinopexy and the things that are done in it. but what worried him was the recovery. It takes 1-3 weeks to heal but for that to happen, she had to follow rules. She was not allowed to lie on her back. She was not allowed to even move at her free will else the gas bubble injected within would not remain in the right position. And that would be painful.

When he came out, he found Rano ma happy for Geet. She went home to perform a small puja. Maan remained there. he knew this was a standard surgery. He knew of the risks and success. He knew that she will be okay. He wasn't worried about any of that. But what he worried about was her state. It was easy to sympathize but very difficult to understand the situation from her point of view. And he didn't want to sympathize. Hell, he didn't even want to empathize with her. he wanted to suffer all that she did! He wanted much more than just feel for her.

She didn't know when days passed and nights came. She didn't know when the moon left the horizon and gave way to a brighter star. But she could hear voices. Voices of unknown. Voices of the familiar and the unfamiliar. Voice of her mother, talking to her. And voice of her husband, telling her that she was all okay now. she felt something move within her eyes and then it hurt. She groaned in pain and the doctors told the anesthesia was wearing off and that she would have to stop moving.

Nurses came and went giving her the required medicines at the required times and in the required doses and she felt like an eternity pass before her. lying down, eyes closed, doing nothing! Her skin burned on her side because she wasn't allowed to move or change sides unless there was a doctor around. She wasn't allowed to cry too because that would strain her eyes muscles.

"...and when we get home, we are going to celebrate our first anniversary." He sat beside her and talked, one such evening.

Their anniversary! Ohh how much she had wanted to celebrate with him! what she had expected and what she had come to?

"Geet... say something." he called out to her, feeling her quiet.

"Maan, how long has it been?" she asked softly, "I want to go home." Her voice cracked.

"Five days, Love. we are allowed to go by the end of the week."

So, she had been in the hospital for five eternities! She tried to move but he held her, preventing her from doing so.

"It..It hurts."

"No Geet. Don't think about it. think of all the good things in our life. Think of all the beautiful memories you have..."

A sense of deja vu filled her. those words... she remembered clearly. And she let that feeling engulf her into a recent memory... a memory where she had been like this... tied to hospital bed; her eyes shut tight with the bandages and her desperation. He had been there, then too, sitting beside her like he did now and had told her to think of all the good memories that she had. That day, she had thought of the good memories and she had thought of Maan. Today, she did the same too. That day, the only thing she had wanted to see was Maan and today, she wished to see him too...once...just once! That day, from the deep recess of her memory words had formed a song... the same song that she heard inside her head today as well. Past merged with the present like the rain merged with the ocean...the amalgamation so overpowering that she felt she was floating in an alternate universe.

I want to see you.

She tried to imagine his face. How did he look now? two months later? She'd be seeing him. she'd be seeing her mother. She'd be seeing Priya and her baby. She'd be seeing her family. She tried to picture everyone's face from her last memory of them...the last time she had seen them. the last time she had seen "him", before he had gone for that trip. Would he have grown a stubble? Would he have developed dark circles around his red eyes? Did men even get dark circles due to stress and sleeplessness?

Familiar scent of "home" filled her senses and she heard his footsteps around her. she was home, she knew it. and his footsteps lingered.

Sense your scent when I come

Her mother helped her with her routine and fed her with her own hands. She listened to her about Maan and how he had started to resume work slowly. She was happy that he was doing so. She heard about her father and Naina and her childhood stories too. It was as if she had gone back to become a baby and she reveled in her mother's love. her mother tucked her in the blanket and left her to sleep. But she waited for Maan. He had been out the whole day or so her mother told. She wanted to speak to him about his day and work...how they used to do it some time back. She heard the door open and the sweep of his footsteps and smiled.

"Maan... I missed you."

He pulled her in his embrace, "I missed you too Love. how are you doing today?"

She opened her mouth to answer him but he just leaned forward and pressed his lips on hers in a soft kiss.

Become familiar with the way

just the slightest bit,

They broke apart and she let her fingers feel his face. his eyes...the bridge of his nose...the contours of his cheeks that tapered into a pointed chin and his stubble.

"I want to see You." She whispered, still in his arms.

I want to know the joy
of how you whisper
"more"

"I want you to see me too."

She knew he was desperate too, just like her. but she feared, not of his emotions but of hers when she'd finally open her eyes and see him. she had learned him through her touch and now she'd see him again...like the first time she had seen him when he had come back form from his University. How would she hold herself then, she feared her own anxiety.

Amazing. After marriage maneet's life was going smoothly. They were.enjoying and living every moment. Maan took Geet to the party where maan's all friends came with their respective families. Geet was in awe the way maan introduced her. Their life was heaven until that unfortunate date when Geet met with an accident and lost her eye sight.

Finally in present geet's operation successfully completed. But there is lot of instructions for Geet which is very painful. Maan was feeling bad as.he knew it's gonna be very difficult for Geet . rano is taking care of Geet very well. Geet expressed main lthqt she wants to see him. N I am also waiting for the moment. Waiting for next dear.
