As much as she wanted to sleep, she wasn't getting sleep. It was nature's cruel way of getting back at her. She had been shifting sides on her cozy bed since forever in a desperate attempt to fall asleep.
"That damn party! Those damn drinks! And Rudy Boy!" She cursed herself mentally.
"Tumhe kabhi bhi dar lage, toh mere saath aaake soh jaana."
She giggled incessantly thinking about it, he was really stupid but undeniably the sweetest person she had met. The innocence in his eyes and sincerity in his voice was clearly evident. Behind the so called Cool Dude was a really nice guy who cared about other's feelings and wanted to keep people around him in a cheery mood.
"Tum bohut cute ho!"
"Tum bohut drunk ho."
It made her turn beetroot red even now and she knew it even if the room was completely dark. It made her stomach flip up then and now as well. This boy was going to be the death of her one day. She had brushed him off blaming him to be inebriated, cleverly hiding her emotions. If this wasn't enough, he had even rubbed her little nose again calling her cute. Once was bad enough, twice was hell. Her ideas of organic relationships weren't helping much either.
She tossed to her right side cuddling her pillow tightly .Their dance on party tracks. The mere finger touches had sent her heart on fire. The alcohol hadn't helped either. Scientifically and statistically speaking, alcohol is supposed to knock you off senses but it had made her feel more conscious of herself. Statistics proved wrong for the first time in her life. With Rudy Boy in her life, nothing was ever going to be right.
To top this all, she had fallen asleep holding him with both her arms securing his waist, resting her head on his chest. He had his arm around her in a protective embrace as if she would off his chest anytime. He rested his chin on her head while she snuggled her face close to his neck. The scent of the cologne made her feel so much at home and she had fallen asleep calmly.
It had been years since she had slept calmly since she lost her father and brother. The nightmares had always haunted her and ripped apart the cocoon of happiness she built around herself. That night had been different; she never tried to shield herself. That night, the nightmares never visited, the cocoon was never broken, protected in a thicker shell of happiness- nothing could hurt her.
Feeling serene and calm, Soumya drifted off to sleep.
