personally i wasn't as invested by sid's character than i was curious about kat's character and her POV...

In Ki and Ka, Arjun's POV dominated several parts of the movie because it was about house-husbands. Arjun's role was much more than that of a mere love interest.

Katrina was there all through the film and had an equal role.
I don't think that Katrina overshadowed him (imo, it was the other way around, as did my friends who watched it) but you are entitled to your opinion. The critics were split over this as well.

I can understand that fans are upset about Katrina getting this much blame, but then this forum has always been a harsh place. In reality, it wasn't a great movie but hardly the worst movie of the year. I think Katrina and Sidharth's characters lacked a bit of depth because of the way they were written, but irrespective of that, the story and concept was such that it would not have worked with the masses.

never said kat overshadowed... i found her character more interesting than his character... i am not a katrina fan to be upset... i went into the movie really wanting to like it, but found it was let down because of the script and the characterization... i watched hasee toh phasee and there i found that sid's character could hold interest, but in this one at least i found it hard to care about his character... he cared about vedic mathematics, but i wish there was more to him beyond that... what the writers failed at was ensuring the audience was emotionally invested in their main character...

^^ I do agree that for a film of this sort, they needed to develop the characters more. We needed to know more about them than we got to know. The bits about Vedic maths/Cambridge/Harvard and all did not help the character development at all. Both the characters required more depth.
By the way, in Ki and Ka, Arjun's POV dominated several parts of the movie because it was about house-husbands. Arjun's role was much more than that of a love interest. It is a good one-time watch, although the cliches were overbearing at times.

sid is good at showing struggle...they should have shown his childhood struggle and his passion for mathematics and how hard he had to work to get to where he was... as a result of that he felt conflicted with his career and his love interest...they should have showed him conflicted... feeling something about what he had to do... feeling he was letting diya down and breaking her heart but he had to do it for a strong reason (maybe financial reasons, dream come true, etc etc).. instead what they did was they showed him annoyed when he breaks up with her... had they given us a strong reason to root for him in the beginning this movie could have worked..

Maybe it's just me who didn't get it but I found the logic itself flawed. Sid doesn't want to get married The time travel mainly shows everything that could go wrong goes wrong, post marriage. Then he comes back to the present and still goes along with the wedding. I found it pointless😆
They could have gone the It's a wonderful life route and showed all the bad things that would have happened had he not married Kat. (Loneliness, the other guy etc). I feel they messed this up a bit.

Actually yes, the whole reason for the big argument did not work. There needed to be a solid reason for Jai not wanting to marry at that stage. It was not convincing enough.
