Aaaw! That is a really sweet thing to say... I choose to take it personally as I am Gujju as well 😆

And I WISH we were all rich... imagine a bapu like Surya who could give his children anything they want 😉 Actually TB - Gopu is not rich. And not all serials show rich families - what about MDTA - the Kapoor's are not rich.

Its not the Gujjus r rich thing .....they show rich families , period ! Saloni is from Rajput ....Maayka is Punjabi family ....even Teen bahuraniyan ....they say it is middle class family but see the house !In Kasam se the Walias r northies but deal in millions ! Rich lifestyles hold a fascination i the mind of the middle class and poor viewer ...even people in slums have colured Tv and cable nowdays ....they love to watch a life they can never dream of having . Who wants to see the same old train travels and jhik jhik of a hard life ? So u see ...its not Gujjus ....all and any caste will be shown as rich only . I do hope they make a serail on middle class life oneday .[ the heroines of these serials even sleep with zari saris ....its so unbelievable .]

I agree. The networks haven't really caught on showing diversity and different family classes. There are many middle class to poor families in India but however they don't choose to reflect people in that population. As well there are many other cultures in India and it would be nice if they addressed those cultures to. I think they like showing rich well to do families then it gives hope to people who don't come from that background. However it is sort of shallow showing rich families in the serials making you want to have materialistic items like the people in the serials.

None of us are rich minded, whether it is Gujus or any other cast. I am a "Guju" and what makes me different to you is my language, my culture and my name. Other then that, I am the same as all of the people here: A Indian. That is what counts. How many cultures live under the same roof - India? It just shows that is there is only 1 good example of unity, and it is India.

The shows are based on rich families because the viewers like to see it that way. Most people wish to be well off in their personal lives so to watch TV where rich families are profiled, they find a better connection and its more entertaining. The premises of the show "parivaar" were changed because originally it was a story of a poor girl. Since the TRPs were all that great, the storyline was switched to a rich family to attract more viewers.

maybe because majority of the viewers are Guju? And they want to make the serials appealing to them?

One hundred percent well said...👏 👏 but how often do we really live together as brothers and sisters? Amongst Guju's ourserlves there is so much of segregration with our caste - it maybe a surname, but we all have our mandals that we are a part of. If a girl marries out of a Soni family into a Mochi family, tehre is still a problem, and that too on both sides. 😕

We should all aspire to break down these castes and samaj ideas and move forward to focus on the humanity of the people - regardless of what language they speak.

As proud as I am of my culture, my language and traditions that set me apart, I am embarassed to honestly acknowledge the caste that is still so strong and a part of our lives, which ever part of the world we come from. But in India, regardless of caste or creed we stand next to each other...👏
