Hey!

Before you ask, no I didn't think much of this film. Seemed like one of those teeny bopper shows like Dhoom Machao Dhoom on Disney.

The treatment of the done to death plot was subpar.

Don't tell me they were in high school. To this day, I think it was a college, 'cause KJo possibly couldn't be stupid enough to pass of Varun and Sidharth as teenagers, or could he?

I didn't understand why anybody would fall for 'princess complex' Shanaya? 😕 What was so special about her? Isn't there a scene where Abhimanyu AKA Sid says something like, "thodi si dumb hai". I was like, "why do you like her then, bro?" 😆

I liked VD-Sid's camaraderie more than the so-called romantic chemistry of Abhi-Shanaya or Rohan-Shanaya.

I would say this movie too was a tribute to 'posh people problems' (in Anupama Chopra's words)- the problems of the rich or good-looking. The characters mostly had very superficial problems and seemed to have everything else made for them- the richest and most popular couple in school (Rulaya...oops, I mean RoNaya) and then six pack genius Abhi walks in and becomes the shining beacon of hope for the underdogs of the school.

The biggest plus for the movie was the soundtrack. I really like the soundtrack and listen to it till this day. ⭐️ Catchy songs that maybe won't be classics, but have repeat value.

What is your take on it?

Lol.. it was typical Karan Johar fluff... good looking people, glamorous everything (including school, dadi, everything), good music, some dumb competition.. overall it was an entertaining timepass movie. I'd watch it once and pass. My favourite scenes were ones by Rishi Kapoor (the comic ones). 😆

Oh, and agreed about the soundtrack! Such a good OST! Ishq wala love was a lovely song. Sigh.

It's cheesy but I enjoyed it. Sid's super cute ☺️ My fav bit was the boys going all gung-ho at the end on who's better than whom, and Varun says he has slept hundreds of girls or something like that 😆

Glamorous Dadi- lmao.

Rishi Kapoor- I agree. For me, he was the most sparky part about the movie. Of course, his role was overwrought with stereotypes but he portrayed whatever he was given with panache.

After KJo made MNIK, I thought he also likes making films that make people think but then he said in an interview that he wanted to go back to making his kind of cinema- candyfloss/bubblegum romance. I was like 😲. KJo, shouldn't have hoped for anything better.

One of the worst film I watched in theatre😆
Varun & songs were the only saving grace imo. I loved all his confrontation scenes with Ram kapoor alot & his dance moves esp. in velle song ❤️

To be honest, KJo should stick to candyfloss romance genre because serious cinema is just isn't his cup of tea. MNIK is his worst film.
