Chapter 11
He came home after office, picked up things Khushi had asked for on the way back and was in perfect time for dinner.
Whilst he refreshed up she'd get dinner on the table. He agreed, he put down the bag of little things he had picked up from the supermarket on the counter in the kitchen, took off his blazer and hooked it onto one of the kitchen chairs and washed his hands under the tap.
Coming across Hp in the kitchen reminded him of a conversation they needed to have.
"Hariprakash .."
"Ji sahab .." (Yes sir)
"Come and see me later we'll take a look at your salary." - Khushi had obviously shared her knowledge of Hp' struggles with him whether he wanted his boss to know or not Arnav was the only person that could help him in all reality.
If it was there that he had stopped it would have been fine but he was a little more abrupt when he mentioned managing money and questioned Hp about not having any bad habits he was throwing his money on.
It was all valid of course but when Khushi was aware that Hp already felt very little before Arnav she wished he would be a little more sensitive. Or she shouldn't have told him at all.
She pulled a bit of a face behind his back for a second not only the fact that she was a little annoyed at him was apparent in the conversation that followed after Hp had left the kitchen.
"So what have you been up to today then?.. Had a nice day? He asked her because he wished to know.
"Bohot achta, hamne aur Laxmiji ne film dekhi'
-"oh yeah" he replied drying his hands waiting to hear what it was but when he did he realized it was just one of Khushi's jibes.
..- "Pathar ke sanam!"
Taking it on the chin he leaves to go and check on Nani.
...
"How is my beautiful?" he said as he walked into nani's room with glowing eyes. His grandmother meant the world to him and he to her of course after Khushi that was. Khushi was nani's favourite.
Khushi se mile? is the first thing she asked when he entered her room.
Yes he had, and everything was fine he wanted to assure her and he did and Nani was the very few to ever be able to read Arnavs eyes. He was trying ..he was trying to recognize his own heart and do right by it and his efforts would not go astray that nani was sure of.
he didn't ever talk of his heart to anyone but when his grandmother already knew what did it matter but there was one thing he had to share with his grandmother and that was an apology.
An apology for bringing Lavanya into the home despite knowing that it upset Nani, at that time he was being selfish. But love wasn't supposed to be selfish he had learnt that from Khushi.
His grandmother understood yes at the time she was hurt but she understood. She put her hand around his and reassured him that she had forgotten about that now. It was in the past.
Sat by one and another if given the chance they would have surely talked about it in depth but dinner was ready Khushi felt like she was interrupting something when she knocked on the surface of the door from the outside.
"Ji, khana tayar hai", (Dinner is ready.) She was very wifely in her tone as she ever was just a little more so around nani out of respect.
...
As they sat down to eat together, for the first time in years just the two of them there was something nice about the moment. They didn't get much time for this in their old marriage but the importance of the little things showed today. He watched her be herself, bring in containers from the kitchen. Put them down, pour water, put food into his plate. She was the perfect wife and it was his turn now to be a good husband. He noticed that there were piles of what looked like cardboard takeaway containers on the coffee table in the lounge. Bits of paper like something important was going on whilst he was away at work but before he could ask her she had mentioned it herself.
"Hamne amma aur babuji ko madat karne ke liyey ghar se kaam karne ka faisla kiya hai." "Hamari nokri bhi nahin rahin toh they will be struggling."
(I've decided to work from home to help amma and babuji its not like I work anymore and they are struggerling.)
"As you wish.." he was proud of her said his eyes because he understood what self respect and the challenge of achieving something on ones two feet was.
"As long as you promise to remember you have a husband who is there to help you in anyway possible should you need it."
He was eating as he replied but his eyes when he did look at her were so dedicated to his words, his support gave her everything she could need.
...
Post his little chat with Hp Arnav had come down into the lounge to see Khushi working hard on making up her takeaway boxes. There was certainly a knack to it, a little like origami it looked and when would she actually get all those done, she'd be there all night.
Before Khushi realizes it Arnav is sat beside her helping her. He didn't have to he was Arnav Singh Raizada he had bigger more important things to worry about.
"Aap rehne dijyey." ("I can manage") she said as she watched him put a box together with a bit of work but he managed it.
"I'd like to help, Its not like I can do any more office work can't use my Bluetooth can I ." Rightly so her tone sticking by her condition of no work phone calls at home.
"Nahin kyun ke Aman ko bhi aaram ki saraurat hai aur aap ko bhi." - ("Yes because Aman needs rest from time to time as well as yourself. ")
She said taking away the box from his hands and finishing it herself.
He watched for a moment so dedicated, so determined so strong. He admired all her qualities.
When he wouldn't leave it was time to make a deal.
"Let me help you with this and whenever the time comes you can pay me back with your help hows that?" He suggested a businessman through and through. She agreed.
They almost had a very productive production line going for some time that was until Khushi who was trying to bite apart of some tape with her mouth caught her lip, there was a hiss of pain from Khushi that caught Arnavs attention. At once turning to Khushi he demanded to see if she had hurt herself severely even if she insisted it was nothing. The way in which he made a point of wanting to see her closely, putting his fingertips to her jaw line and caressing her lips a little to make sure she was actually as fine as she said she was all for Khushi who hadn't been this close to him in years created the most nervous feeling within.
His eyes of concern, his proximity his, attention and affection in that single moment Khushi found it ever so overpowering. Maybe it was because the closeness reminded her of their very first kiss.
Up by the poolside she was when the party continued in Raizada house. It was a late reception party, not just late it was months on because it was the celebration that both Khushi and Arnav finally actually wanted. When they had first married it was just marriage they were yet to know one and other and there was so much distance so many on lookers. Now 3 months on they were closer, they understood each other and love well love began to fill the air for both of them. Despite knowing that Arnav had married primarily for his grandmother there was a sense of understanding, friendship and even attraction between them now and this what the party was in aid of them.
It was what both of them wanted but Arnav who had come up to their room for a change of shirt after a spill caught Khushi up by the poolside he knew there was something the matter because he did that too just when people around were annoying him.
Just Khushi hadn't realized when it was that Arnav had come out into the poolside and stood before her.
His eyes asking her what the matter was, but he looked down at the guests from where they stood and he could see what it was. The women were still pestering Khushi about the details of their relationship. Her eyes spoke to him, loud and clear.
They shared such a lovely relationship then why did others and what they have to say or make judgment about matter? But he was going to put a full stop to this.
Taking her a little by surprise but conducting himself in a very velvety and seductive manner he stepped that little bit closer placed his hand around her waist which drew her attention at once. She felt him step closer look over her with the most affectionate and reassuring eyes before drawing towards her quivering lips.
Their first kiss Is what Khushi recalled in this moment and maybe that is why there was such a fluster in her eyes, awkwardness in the air that she alone had created so much so that she needed to excuse herself for a moment. Briskly walking of too the kitchen for a moment Khushi breathed a sigh of relief for a moment whilst out in the lounge Arnav sat in thought about what had just occurred.

Next Chapter...(subject to change ..)
She had tried on everyone of the outfits, and she wasn't just modeling them for him to decide on she was giving her opinion too. About the colour, the style, the cut, how incredibly skimpy some of them were but she failed to notice that whilst she went on talking all Arnav could do was admire her.
As she turned around to him to show him this last new outfit a Saari Khushi waited for a response but instead she watched him approach her without lifting his eyes from her in due course from the walk from his seat towards her. He didn't have a comment on the outfit, nor the colour or how well he thought it would do on the high street he was more interested in complimenting her. He took away her hair grip for her hair to fall onto her shoulders whilst she realized that this wasn't Arnav Singh Raizada evaluating the fashion his artists had come up with it was Arnav Singh Raizada looking upon his wife.
