People Who Live In Glass Houses | Omkara, Ishaana and Foreshadowing

Hi all,

I was asked about my opinion regarding the foreshadowing in yesterday's episode and even though I have posted this same thing in another thread, I wanted to post it the main forum as well, to get everyone's input.

I think the point that Ishaana made yesterday was that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

I felt that what Ishaana said was legitimate. The entire fiasco at the Maha-Aarti was hushed because of the power and influence that the Oberoi family wields, and not only was Tej directly involved in the cover-up, Shivaay supported it. Therefore, Ishaana rightfully pointed out that Shivaay isn't the honest, noble businessman with integrity, that Om would like to believe. But that is the corporate way and I don't hold it against Shivaay, but again Ishaana didn't say anything wrong. Her points about Rudra, were not invalid either. He does cheat on women. He does two-time girls, and even though, we as an audience find him adorable and love him - it is also true that how he habitually behaves is unacceptable.

Coming to her argument about Tej, and the foreshadowing - I believe these issues are inter-connected.

That is, in my opinion - Ishaana's prediction that one day Om will become his father, will come true.

I know it sounds outrageous, because Om loathes his father and would never intentionally cheat anyone. However, I feel that Om's hatred for his father stems from a feeling far more pervading than pure anger at his father's betrayal and dishonesty. Underlying his hatred for his father, is an intense fear of abandonment.

By choosing Svetlana over Jhanvi, Tej pushed his family away and to an extent abandoned them. Abandonment does not necessarily mean creating physical distance between people, it is often much more agonising when it is an emotional abandonment. I believe that this is the true root of Om's hatred.

Friedrich Nietzche had written: 'Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.'

I believe this will ring true for Om, as Ishaana predicts. Unintentionally, inadvertently, it will be Omkara who will become his father, by pushing away or abandoning his family.

This is where the foreshadowing comes into play; due to his rigid ideologies, Omkara will turn against Shivaay, possibly because Om is misled. Omkara is too trusting and therefore easy to influence. I believe that he will fall victim to someone's plotting and will be misled to believe that Shivaay has lied to him, kept a big secret or betrayed him in a way - when it will not be true. This has happened before on the Raksha Bandhan episode, when Shivaay is protecting Om, but Om misunderstands.

Due to a severe misunderstanding, Om will either leave or compel Shivaay to leave, thus fulfilling Ishaana's prediction, and paving the road for the CVs promised Vanvaas track.

And now that I've put in my two cents, please feel free to agree or disagree, but I will not be responding to any bashing.

Let's have a peaceful, healthy discussion 😊

Hey,
Absolutely loved your take on how and why the vanvaas track might take place. Your reading into Om's character was brilliant.
Coming to Ishaana, the facts she pointed out were absolutely correct, Om has had clashes on these points with Shivaay on at least three occasions previously and everyone knows all the flaws she pointed are true. What I abhorred was she was wrong in conning him and CVs still tried to make her right and justified. This did not sit well for me. I don't want to argue over this point as loads of discussions already done on the same and no point dragging all this up again.
But damn!! I loved loved your Om analysis. You really looked deep into this character and thought out something so intense here. The foreshadowing of ideologies and him being the easiest target to manipulate just makes sense and clicks into place with all the other stories. Brilliantly penned woman! Kudos!

I think all Ishana did yesterday was, showed him his own inadvertent hypocrisy. That he was surrounded by people who lie/have lied all the time. However nice Shivay is, he is capable of lying and look at that business empire. How is one supposed to take care of it all by being like Omkara? Is it even possible? Big businessmen cheat, lie and deceive and this is not to say Shivay is bad but in a world like that, that's how one survives and I'm sure even Shivay knows this very well. Shivay even seemed upset at the fact that Om couldn't lie even for a moment.

Another thing Ishana said yesterday that the only difference between big and small 'chors' is that big ones are never caught like how they managed to cover up the Maha Aarti incident. It was only because of their clout that they could brush it under the carpet. Tej, Shivay all were involved so why the silence Om?
Yesterday's dialogue did hint at the possibility of Om's inflexible Ideology being the reason for his and Shivay's rift in the future because he does have a habit of jumping to conclusions when he feels things aren't going according to his set of principles.
I love Omkara so much so its makes me sad that he will be deeply hurt later and it will all be because of his own rigid principles 😒

Now now this is quite intriguing! You have sketched out Om's character brilliantly and your take on the possible track made me gasp; 'Oh man, this can be so so true', I gushed to myself, nodded my head and gave you a virtual thumbs up lol (imagine I am Rudra and I do dumb things).
And Ishana fiasco- don't want to talk about it. The discussion been going around for so long that now I am bored to even type anything.

Loved this post yaara!

😳 Thank you lovely!

I have genuine affection for every lead character on this show. Each has so many layers and I really hope that writers will build on each of them individually, as well as their dynamic with each central character.

🤗

👏 Interesting... And perhaps that's where they may show Ishana take the lead and help omkara distinguish between the actual right and Wrong... 😊

Yes! I thought that Ishaana's point was very true!

I think, that they will all be put through the ringer - the brothers, more than anyone else.

I feel for all of them equally.

The thought of their broken brotherhood is unbearable, but inevitable.

Haha I know. Someone posted 'Why are people supporting Ishana/ What kind of people are they?'
I just commented 'Well, I support Ishana cos I am morally screwed up '. 😃 Too fun!

😳 Thank you!

Let's not touch the Ishaana topic then 😆

I felt awful for all of the brothers, when Om misunderstood Shivaay, and the thought of it happening again, is agonising.

But, I guess it wouldn't be much of a drama, if it didn't make us feel that way.

In any case, we all know that the ending will be happy! Let's just hold onto that thought and enjoy the ride 😊
