Well that's not very reassuring at all.
So yeah Dev's character has been consistent through out , let's say I agree. So then ..what ??? His character wasn't that great to begin with , what with him going extreme to secure Sonakshi for his mommy , against her wishes and making all her doors closed and from today's episode and Sona's cutting words to him and also during her own sel-reflection, it's clear that she's neither forgotten , nor forgiven him for that action in the past , no matter how much affection n friendship they shared in the mean time, that one scar never healed, after all Sona was reduced to a hands on maid cum governess and GKB's occasional punching bag from a doctor.
So , yeah I wish Dev's character was NOT consistent. 😵

I am hoping for consistency (which we have) and then proper character development. Which I am hoping will happen with this separation track. (I mean no erratic changes, characters are established with consistency and then eventual character growth)

No this is not to defend him - he is delusional and instead of dealing with his own issues, he is focusing on Sona and breaking her engagement - which is wrong. But I like that the CVs have kept up with his character and now hope with this separation, they will show some growth.

So far it has been about his denial about Sona's new relationship, now I would hope to see some character growth of acceptance and taking responsibility and fixing their relationship by focusing on the right person - his mother. Because she is the one who needs to be dealt with first.

This is a show, he is a character with flaws and now that they have established his character properly (traits apart from his love for his mother), growth should come in step by step. That would make this a great show!

So yeah, in way I agree with you, I would hope to see some proper character development. But so far, I am not annoyed because his character makes sense (once again not defending). We can hope to see his growth portrayed beautifully.

Yes dev is like this from beginning... At start, when sona was not there in his life, then he was doing all possibility to get sonakshi for his mother as nutritionist because he love her mom very much and now he is all doing those things again but this time for sona to bring her back...for me old and rude Mr.obodro has returned

@OP. While kind of agree with you and kind of don't.
Let me try to make sense:

The Consistency you are taking about is kind of in isolation.

For instance if we feel like having coffee, we grab a cup. And if at the same time need to go to the washroom, we don't really take the coffee cup with us to the washroom do we? We put it aside for the time being and go to the washroom. Consistency here might say you do both together.

That's where we as human beings differ from say inanimate things. We prioritize things.

Dev is currently drinking his cup of coffee while going to the loo. (He is obeying his mother as well as pursue his girl)

This is the same cinsistency that we see in other plot devices (different from characters, chars have growth, plot devices don't) such as GKB, The Security, Vicki.

They are consistent but also static. So is Dev.

Completely agree with you.
Dev has always been the same, adding complexities in the character with the story isn't the same as butchering the character. Cvs have very well built the layers of Dev, he is still the same. .the Intensity of his emotions is obviously on a larger scale now, because his heart in involved😊

I am not sure I follow, though I would love to because @bold is a funny analogy. 😆

I was referring to Dev's character, his personality traits which has been uniform or consistent basically.

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring too.

I have seen shows where the characters have erratic changes. Good to bad to good again with no explanations. Random reactions to situations. In this case Dev's reactions make complete sense with his character. Growth will hopefully follow, but for now, I like that his character makes sense.

Coffee and washroom example was to indicate that Dev is acting as if obeying his mother and pursuing his girl are 2 unrelated things. Isn't acting like there is a conflict and that he needs to resolve it by prioritizing things.

It shows lack of thought process. I don't care if GKB doesn't become a better person. She can be consistent and none would care. But for Dev Consistency is what you really want then all you will see is him being the same consistent self and Sona going and getting married to Ritwik.

And if that's not the end result you want then Dev needs to deviate from his current path.

All the Rona dhona here is because he is consistant. Consistently stupid and immature.

@Bold Oh yeah, character development is definitely necessary.

What I like and hope the CVs will follow is:

1) Establish is character traits (apart from him loving his mother) (check with the current track)
By these traits as in him going to lengths to get what he wants for the people he loves and in this case, he thinks he is helping Sona in a way by breaking her relationship.

2) Show him growing up and deattaching from him mother a little - a clear character growth and development (pending)
This should be done properly and can only happen if character traits have been established properly.
