A lot has been discussed about Dev's irrational behaviour
I guess this is bcoz he doesn't have a coping mechanism like sona . So far in all major problems he has faced in life he had his mother as his support system but now she is his problem.
Once he vents out his feelings he may behave differently and be more sane. This may happen after the fight where both confess they still love each other. He will then see reality and maybe do such good things that Sona will fall in love with him all over again. He will probably help her in moving on too.
May be this is how the makers will redeem Dev's character. Similarly ishwari's too.
Or maybe wishful thinking from my side for the characters
