Anurradha Prasad
BAG Films, associated with the small screen so far, have now set their sights on the big screen. Among the projects lined up at the production house are three films with actors like Sushmita Sen, Vidya Balan and Jimmy Shergill.

Come November

Discloses managing director, Anurradha Prasad, "We are gearing up for the launch of three feature films. The first project will star Sushmita Sen and Shiney Ahuja, and will be directed by Tanuja Chandra.

This will go on the floors in the middle of November. The second film will be directed by Sharad Narang will star Vidya Balan. The third will be a Punjabi film with Jimmy Shergill in the lead, and Gurbhir Grewal as director."

A story to tell

All three films are aimed at being released in early 2006. Talking about their decision to move into films, Anurradha says, "BAG has always been into expanding and developing content across all kinds of media.

Films are obviously a platform whose potential we want to explore and tap. The scripts of all these films are what drove me to production. They are stories that have an interesting tale to tell about their characters."

Rihhaee ends abruptly

On the television front, other than Kumkum (Star Plus) and Siddhant (Star One), the production house also has a number of crime-based shows like Sansani, Red Alert and the Shekhar Suman show, Poll Khol. Their show on social issues, Rihhaee (on Sony) was pulled off air.

Commenting on the controversy that followed, Anurradha says, "I want to look at the incident in a positive way. The channel gave us a platform for airing the show, and it served the purpose well in a limited span of time."

Dekkho magar pyar se

On the abrupt end of another show, Dekkho Magar Pyar Se, she says, "This was one show that came to us, we never produced it in the first place. I personally wasn't very happy with the way it was being shot in the second season, with lots of problems with the schedules and dates. However, I think we did a decent job with the show."

Shefali to do an Oprah

Speaking about the new talk show, rumoured to be along the lines of the super popular Oprah Winfrey Show, and anchored by Shefali Chayya, Anuradha says, "We are still in the initial stages of working out the modalities for this one. I am thrilled to have Shefali on board because she is famous for the amazing roles she has done. I am sure she will do a fabulous job with us as well."
