Part-2:TS: Dr Sonakshi Bose because I am yours
Sonakshi was about to leave after been instructed by the nurse but Dev stopped her. He requested nurse if she could accompany him during the shifting. Nurse agreed to his request.
Dev was shifted to the HDU cum VIP ward on 2nd floor. Dev was lying on the bed and Sonakshi was sitting on the stool next to him.
As the effect of anaesthesia was waning off his forehead was hurting. With a wince he turned his head to Sonakshi who was staring in trance. Her eyes were red and hair were messy. But she was looking extraordinarily beautiful in her engagement saree. Her beauty had tranquillising effect on him.
Dev muttered her name to bring her back from trance, giving a jealous expression said " Tum Ritwik se sagaai karne ke liye itna tayyar hui thi". There was no change in Sonakshi's expression and with a plane face she replied " Nahi, apni sagaai ke liye tayyar hui thi".
Dev rested his hand on her's and said " Sonakshi, I know its really cloudy out there, clouds of hopelessness and sadness but trust me i will bring back the sunshine in our lives".
Sonakshi replied " Dev I don know what you intent to do but for me the basic issue still remains. Your mother doesn't like me. She will not accept me as part of ur life. Till this issue is not addressed, I don think there is any use talking anything further".
Dev clutched her hand and said " Sona I m not promising you a garden of roses, I am not saying I can make my maa accept you in one day. But I will take baby steps, gradually I know she will accept you. But yes, I know one thing if maa gave me life, you gave meaning to my life. I learned it hard way but now I know life without its meaning is almost like being lifeless". Sonakshi was listening to Dev quietly.
Dixit family entered the room. Sonakshi got up from the stool and stood on the side of the bed. Everyone was happy to see that Dev was up and alive. Ishwari came and sat on chair on the side of bed opposite to which Sonakshi was standing. She held Dev's hand " Dev! Tune toh apni maa ko daraa hi diya tha. Tujhe kuch ho jaata toh main kya karti. Tu hi toh mera ek sahara hai". Dev replied her with both affection and sarcasm " maa tune bhi toh daraa diya tha na uss din. Itna zyada daraa diya tha ki mujhe sahi aur galat dikhna hi bund ho gaya tha. Tu chinta mat kar, main theek hoon. Aur ab toh Sonakshi wapas aa gayi hai, ab toh sab bilkul theek ho jaayega, Hai na maa?". Dev kept on looking at Ishwari till she nodded her head in a yes.
To change the topic Ishwari looked at mamaji and said " aap log sab ghar jaaeye, main hoon Dev ke paas. Sonakshi beta bahut der ho gayi hai, tum bhi jao, driver tumhe chod dega". Sonakshi took a step to leave but her hand was held by Dev. Dev looked at mamji, as if both of them were having an eye conversation.
Mamaji said " Ishwari teri tabiyat theek nahi hai, tu ghar ja dev ke pass main hoon".
Before Ishwari could retaliate Dev said " Maa sach mein teri tabiyat theek nahi hai, tu ghar jaa aaram kar, subah aa jaana". Then he turned towards Sonakshi and said " Kya tum mere paas ruk sakti ho?" Sonakshi kept mum.
Ishwari got up and caressed Dev's hair and said " theek hai, main subah aa jaaoongi. Tu aaraam kar ab". Ishwari and rest of Dixit family left. Mamaji came to Sonakshi and said " Beta main tumhare liye kuch khaane ke liye le aata hoon". Sonakshi nodded in no and said " Nahi mujhe kuch nahi chahiye". Mamaji left the room saying he will go and get something to eat.
Sonakshi made a call to Saurav informing him that she will be staying in hospital in the night, who reassured her not to worry and he will take care of maa and baba. She sat on the stool with Dev still holding her hand. There was a look of a 5 yr old child on his face, who is scared to leave his mother's hand in a market place. Sonakshi understood his fear, freeing her hand she said " Dev I am not going anywhere, I am sitting right next to you. U should take some rest now". There was a blissful silence with eyes doing all the talks and Sonakshi din realise when she had fallen asleep. Dev kept on looking at her with smile of content on his face. He knew sleep of next few hours will be most peaceful sleep of his life so far.
Next morning when Sonakshi woke up she saw Dev was already awake and he was moving his fingers across her undone hair. The moment she opened her eyes, he smiled at her. Sonakshi got up from the stool, little embarrassed for sleeping for that long. She said " I am sorry, I din even realise since how long I have been sleeping". Dev still smiling replied " Its ok, I know u were very tired".
Dr. Chatterjee entered the room along with a junior doctor and nurse. " Gud morning Mr. Dixit! How are feeling? Any headache, dizziness or vomiting". Dev replied " Gud morning Doctor, I am fine, jst little pain at suture site". Dr instructed nurse and junior doctor to give him analgesic round the clock. Start oral feeds, give him sips of water then after half an hour only clear soup. If he tolerates well ,start semisolid diet from after noon and he should be light diet for next few days. Sonakshi being a nutritionist could understand the diet part of instructions well. She assured the doctor she would personally take care of Dev's diet.
Ishwari had spent her entire morning to cook Dev's favourite dish, so that she could take it to hospital. When she entered the room, Dev was sitting propped up and Sonakshi was feeding him the Soup. Ishwari said in eagerness " Dekh Dev main teri pasand ka naashta le kar aayi hoon". Sonakshi was about to inform her the diet plan instructed by the doctor when Dev signalled her not to get into this and he himself said " Maa abhi doctor aaye the unhone kaha hai sirf wahi khana hai jo hospital se aayega jab tak yahan hoon uske baad bhi halka khana khana hai, doctor ne Sonakshi ko samjhaya hai kal discharge ke baad kis tarah ki diet follow karna hai". Ishwari had no option but to keep quiet. Dev has now realised that it was not Sonakshi's duty to pacify his mother, it was rather his duty.
Dev din't want Sonakshi to go but he knew she has to take some rest and also she is answerable to her parents. Dev told Sonakshi that she should go home now and Driver will drop her home. Sonakshi was about to leave when Dev held her hand and said " Shaam ko aa jaana, driver tumhe lene pahuch jaayega". Sonakshi told him, she won't be able to come in the evening but she will come tomorrow before he is discharged from hospital. Dev agreed to her half heartedly.
Sonakshi when reached home, entire Bose family was sitting in the living room. Moment she entered, Bijoy got up from the sofa, he was about to speak something but Asha interrupted him and told Sonakshi to go up freshen up and take rest. Sonakshi knew this was not the right time to discuss what has happened and left for her room. After Sonakshi left Asha said " Bijoy aami jaani aap Shona se bahut naraaz hain, Ritwik ne sab bataya na phone par. Shona bhi bahut pareshan hai, woh raat bhar shayad soyi bhi nahi hai. Usse aaram karne dijiye aur usse thoda waqt dijiye. Woh khud aapse aakar baat karegi. Jitna mushkil ye humaare liye hai, usse zyada mushkil ye Shona ke liye hai". Bijoy nodded in agreement.
Next morning Bose family had just settled on Dining table for breakfast door bell rang. Asha opened the door. It was Dev's driver. He told Asha, Dev had sent him to pick up Sonakshi. Sonakshi told him to wait in the car she will come in 15-20 mins. Sonakshi looked at Bijoy and said " Baba main jaanti hoon aapke mann mein bahut saare sawal hain, main wapas aakar aapke saare sawaalon ka jawab doongi". Bijoy still had a slight unrest on his face but calming himself down he said " Shona I just hope u know what you are doing".
When Sonakshi reached Dev's room in hospital, Ishwari and mamaji were standing next to Dev's bed. Dr Chatterjee was already there. Sonakshi greeted Dr. Chatterjee. He told her Dev was fit for discharge and Nurse will explain them how they should continue the medication and he has to be on complete rest for next 7 days and suture removal will be done after 7 days.
Sonakshi went out with Dr. Chatterjee and Nurse to collect the discharge card. She returned to Dev's room with discharge card and envelope which medicine strips. She went to Ishwari and started explaining her the medication schedule and diet chart. Dev was observing both the women of her life. None had any expression their face. Dev knew there was a long road to go but he was determined that this time he will walk this road and reach his destination.
After completing the formalities in the hospital Ishwari and mamaji were ready to leave when Dev told Mamaji that he has go to somewhere with Sonakshi and he and maa should carry on. Ishwari said angrily " Dev abhi kahin nahi jaana, seedha ghar chalo aur aaram karo. Suna nahi doctor ne kya kaha? 7 din poora aaram karna hai".
Dev replied calmly " Maa zyada der nahi karoonga, jaana bahut zaroori hai, pehle hi bahut der ho gayi hai". Ishwari had to leave against her wish. Ishwari today had realised in quest to own Dev, she has lost him completely but something inside her was still not ready to give up.
Sonakshi was a surprised but a silent bystander to all this conversation. After Mamaji and Ishwari left, Dev said " Chalo Sonakshi hum tumhare ghar jaa rahe hain".
After half an hour Dev and Sonakshi were at Sona's doorstep. Elena opened the door. Dev and Sonakshi entered together. Entire Bose family was sitting in the living room. Sonakshi went and stood behind Bijoy and Dev kept on standing at the entrance. There was so much anger and unrest on Bijoy's face. Dev took one step ahead and asked Bijoy " kya main aapse baat kar sakta hoon? Aapke mann mein bahut sawaal hain aur main yahan aapke har sawaal ka jawaab dene aaya hoon".
Bijoy got up from where he was sitting and said "U can come and sit Mr. Dev Dixit".
Dev entered and sat on the empty sofa. Dev din know how to start but he knew this was his last chance.
He said " Mr Bose...kya main aapko baba bula sakta hoon?"
Bijoy replied in a stern tone " Mr. Dixit iss baat se koi farak nahi padta aap mujhe kya bulaate hain. Farak iss baat se padta hai ki aap yahan kya kar rahe hain? Aap meri beti ki zindagi mein kyon wapas aaye hain? Aapne hi toh meri beti ko dard mein tadapne aur rone ke liye chod diya tha aur jab who apni zindagi mein aagey badhne jaa rahi thi, aap phir aa gaye beech mein aur uski sagaai tudwa di. Mr. Dixit maine duniya mein bohot saare selfish log dekhein hain par aap jitna koi nahi. Aap apne alawa aur kabhi kisse ke baare mein nahi sochte. Jab maine aapko apne employ ki help karte hue dekha tha toh mujhe lagaa aap ek achche insaan hain, isiliye jab meri beti ne aapko chuna, humne uski choice ko sweekar kar liya. Par jo bhi aapne meri beti ke saath kiya aapko lagta hai uske baad aapko phir se uski zindagi barbaad karne ki ijazat nahi doonga". Bijoy's face was fuming with anger and his voice was shaking.
Dev got up from the Sofa and came and sat on the floor next Bijoy and said " Baba main jaanta hoon jitna dukh maine Sona ko diya hai usse kahin zyada dukh aap logon ko diya hai. Aap logon ke liye mujhe maaf karna shayad possible nahi hai. Phir bhi main sirf ek mauka chahta hoon, khud ko aapke parivaar aur aapki beti ke laayak saabit karne ka".
Baba jab main 8 saal ka tha mere papa ki death ho gayi, meri zindagi mein sirf ek hi rishta tha meri maa ka, jo mere liye sab kuch thi. Kitni baar zindagi mein ek pitaah ke point of view ki zaroorat thi mujhe, mere paas koi nahi tha. Main hamesha sochta tha meri maa mere liye maa aur pitaah dono hai. Par ab main samjha maa aur pitaah dono ka role ek bachche ki life mein alag hota hai.
Maa life mein pyaar aur dulaar deti hai, aapko ek situation ka emotional angle samjhati hai par ek pitaah uska practical aur rational aspect samjhata hai. Maine apni poori zindagi apne impulses par jiya hai, mujhe sahi ya galat bataane walaa koi nahi tha. Meri success ne mere impulses ko justify bhi kar diya. Maine Sonakshi aur aap kogon ke saath jo bhi woh uss impulse ka result hai. Galat maa nahi hai, galat main hoon. Maa ki insecurities ko samjhna mera kaam tha, I failed, baba I failed miserably at all the fronts of my life". Dev had tears in his eyes and din realise when he had kept both hands on Bijoy's knees.
Dev continued " I know Sonakshi ne mere kaaran bahut suffer kiya hai, main kuch bhi undo nahi kar sakta par usse ek achcha future dene ka promise kar sakta hoon, Sabse bada sach mere aur Sonakshi ke liye yehi hai ke hum dono ek doosre se bahut zyada pyaar karte hain aur hum sirf ek saath hi khush reh sakte hain. Main ye nahi kehta aap mujhe maaf kar dijiye. I know it's impossible, I just want you to give me chance to prove myself worthy of your daughter and her love. I have learnt it hard way but I have learnt it now how to balance relations life. Maa ko waqt zaroor lagega par woh Sona ko ek din zaroor samajh jaayegi. Tab tak main rahooga Sona ke saath har pal".
Something had moved inside Bijoy. He understood that Dev was a victim of his situations and not a culprit. He said " uthiye Deb babu, upar baithiye". He held Dev from his shoulders and made him sit next to him and said " Deb babu hamaari beti ke saath jo hua uske baad aap par vishwas karna bahut mushkil hai par main aapko ek mauka dena chahta hoon. Hum logon ko bahut gehri chot lagi hai aur usko bharna itna aasaan nahi hoga, bahut waqt lagega".
Dev said " Mujhe vishwaas hai ke ekdin aap mujh par pehle ki tarah vishwaas karenge".
Bijoy got up from Sofa and said " Deb babu aap abhi abhi hospital se discharge hue hain, aapko rest karna chahiye".
Dev also got up and touched Maa, baba and Dadi's feet. He looked at Sonakshi and asked " Mujhe neeche tak chodne ke liye aa sakti ho Sonakshi".
Sonakshi looked at Bijoy seeking for his consent, to which Bijoy nodded in a yes. Sonakshi quietly followed Dev out of her house.
Dev stopped reaching the street outside Sonakshi's house (there eternal romantic spot). Sonakshi also stopped. Dev turned back and looked at Sonakshi. He took her hands in his and said " Sonakshi I know your wounds are too deep and too fresh but love is the best antibiotic known for these wounds and assure you I will heal all your wounds with my love and won't let any scar to be left behind". Dev kissed on both her eyelids and said " Bohot rulaaya hai tumhe par ab bus, ab sab theek hoga". He turned and sat in the car and left. A small but genuine smile appeared on Sonakshi's face.
After one week
Bose family was enjoying there evening tea, Sonakshi had just returned from hospital and joined them. Sonakshi had not met Dev for last one week but she used to enquire about his health with Nikki every evening. Door bell rang. Sonakshi opened the door. Dev was standing on the door with his mesmerising smile and said " Good evening Ms. Bose, kya main andar aa sakta hoon". Sonakshi was so surprised that she could not say nething but move aside to let him in. He reached the dining table and touched elder's feet and said " Maa mujhe chai nahi pilayengi". Asha smiled and got up from her chair and asked Dev to sit and went in the kitchen.
Dev looked at Sonakshi who was sitting right across him and through his eyes said " this is my first step to be yours Dr Sonakshi Bose".

Aapne hi toh meri beti ko dard mein tadapne aur rone ke liye chod diya tha aur jab who apni zindagi mein aagey badhne jaa rahi thi, aap phir aa gaye beech mein aur uski sagaai tudwa di. Mr. Dixit maine duniya mein bohot saare selfish log dekhein hain par aap jitna koi nahi. Aap apne alawa aur kabhi kisse ke baare mein nahi sochte. Jab maine aapko apne employ ki help karte hue dekha tha toh mujhe lagaa aap ek achche insaan hain, isiliye jab meri beti ne aapko chuna, humne uski choice ko sweekar kar liya. Par jo bhi aapne meri beti ke saath kiya aapko lagta hai uske baad aapko phir se uski zindagi barbaad karne ki ijazat nahi doonga". Bijoy's face was fuming with anger and his voice was shaking.
Dev got up from the Sofa and came and sat on the floor next Bijoy and said " Baba main jaanta hoon jitna dukh maine Sona ko diya hai usse kahin zyada dukh aap logon ko diya hai. Aap logon ke liye mujhe maaf karna shayad possible nahi hai. Phir bhi main sirf ek mauka chahta hoon, khud ko aapke parivaar aur aapki beti ke laayak saabit karne ka".
Baba jab main 8 saal ka tha mere papa ki death ho gayi, meri zindagi mein sirf ek hi rishta tha meri maa ka, jo mere liye sab kuch thi. Kitni baar zindagi mein ek pitaah ke point of view ki zaroorat thi mujhe, mere paas koi nahi tha. Main hamesha sochta tha meri maa mere liye maa aur pitaah dono hai. Par ab main samjha maa aur pitaah dono ka role ek bachche ki life mein alag hota hai.
Maa life mein pyaar aur dulaar deti hai, aapko ek situation ka emotional angle samjhati hai par ek pitaah uska practical aur rational aspect samjhata hai. Maine apni poori zindagi apne impulses par jiya hai, mujhe sahi ya galat bataane walaa koi nahi tha. Meri success ne mere impulses ko justify bhi kar diya. Maine Sonakshi aur aap kogon ke saath jo bhi woh uss impulse ka result hai. Galat maa nahi hai, galat main hoon. Maa ki insecurities ko samjhna mera kaam tha, I failed, baba I failed miserably at all the fronts of my life". Dev had tears in his eyes and din realise when he had kept both hands on Bijoy's knees.
Dev continued " I know Sonakshi ne mere kaaran bahut suffer kiya hai, main kuch bhi undo nahi kar sakta par usse ek achcha future dene ka promise kar sakta hoon, Sabse bada sach mere aur Sonakshi ke liye yehi hai ke hum dono ek doosre se bahut zyada pyaar karte hain aur hum sirf ek saath hi khush reh sakte hain. Main ye nahi kehta aap mujhe maaf kar dijiye. I know it's impossible, I just want you to give me chance to prove myself worthy of your daughter and her love. I have learnt it hard way but I have learnt it now how to balance relations life. Maa ko waqt zaroor lagega par woh Sona ko ek din zaroor samajh jaayegi. Tab tak main rahooga Sona ke saath har pal".
Something had moved inside Bijoy. He understood that Dev was a victim of his situations and not a culprit. He said " uthiye Deb babu, upar baithiye". He held Dev from his shoulders and made him sit next to him and said " Deb babu hamaari beti ke saath jo hua uske baad aap par vishwas karna bahut mushkil hai par main aapko ek mauka dena chahta hoon. Hum logon ko bahut gehri chot lagi hai aur usko bharna itna aasaan nahi hoga, bahut waqt lagega".
Dev said " Mujhe vishwaas hai ke ekdin aap mujh par pehle ki tarah vishwaas karenge".
Bijoy got up from Sofa and said " Deb babu aap abhi abhi hospital se discharge hue hain, aapko rest karna chahiye".
Dev also got up and touched Maa, baba and Dadi's feet. He looked at Sonakshi and asked " Mujhe neeche tak chodne ke liye aa sakti ho Sonakshi".
Sonakshi looked at Bijoy seeking for his consent, to which Bijoy nodded in a yes. Sonakshi quietly followed Dev out of her house.
Dev stopped reaching the street outside Sonakshi's house (there eternal romantic spot). Sonakshi also stopped. Dev turned back and looked at Sonakshi. He took her hands in his and said " Sonakshi I know your wounds are too deep and too fresh but love is the best antibiotic known for these wounds and assure you I will heal all your wounds with my love and won't let any scar to be left behind". Dev kissed on both her eyelids and said " Bohot rulaaya hai tumhe par ab bus, ab sab theek hoga". He turned and sat in the car and left. A small but genuine smile appeared on Sonakshi's face.
After one week
Bose family was enjoying there evening tea, Sonakshi had just returned from hospital and joined them. Sonakshi had not met Dev for last one week but she used to enquire about his health with Nikki every evening. Door bell rang. Sonakshi opened the door. Dev was standing on the door with his mesmerising smile and said " Good evening Ms. Bose, kya main andar aa sakta hoon". Sonakshi was so surprised that she could not say nething but move aside to let him in. He reached the dining table and touched elder's feet and said " Maa mujhe chai nahi pilayengi". Asha smiled and got up from her chair and asked Dev to sit and went in the kitchen.
Dev looked at Sonakshi who was sitting right across him and through his eyes said " this is my first step to be yours Dr Sonakshi Bose".
